    Why did you put it back together without replacing the 3/32 allen screw missing from the defuser?

    • @ApartmentMaintenance
      @ApartmentMaintenance  Рік тому

      I didn't know it was missing until I tore it apart & I didn't want the pool closed until the part arrived so I put it back together & ordered the screw & once it arrived I installed it. Great question though. Thanks for watching & subscribe to the channel Tony 👍

    Good video. Thanks for taking the time!
    If I buy the same unit that I have now, can I switch it out and simply leave the old pump housing in place and reuse it, so I don't have to refit all the plumbing? I replaced this pump 10 years ago, and there isn't enough space now to simply install a new one with the existing PVC pipe & valves.
    I don't see a problem if the housing is still in good shape, which it is. Any thoughts?

    Great job as always Rich. I replaced one of these pentair motors with a century direct replacement motor. It was a little cheaper and its still going to this day

    • @ApartmentMaintenance
      @ApartmentMaintenance  4 роки тому +1

      Nice!! The price difference from the century motor & the OEM motor was a $35 difference, so I just went with the OEM motor, and it was going to take an extra 2-3 days shipping from California. So it was worth it to go back with the original motor and have it 2-3 days sooner for the extra $35 out of my swimming pool Maintenance budget. Thanks for watching Sean 🤜🤛👍👍

    Should I add silicone adhesive when placing the new seal on the seal plate? Is it adhesive or lubricant? If adhesive what kind do you use? Please advice, Thanks

    • @ApartmentMaintenance
      @ApartmentMaintenance  2 роки тому

      It's a pool lube not adhesive. Adding the pool lube to any rubber seals or o-rings is the best thing to do to add life to each one. Thanks for watching Frank & Subscribe to the channel 👍

    • @dthorne4602
      @dthorne4602 2 роки тому +2

      The metal cup of the seal is tapped into place, no sealant necessary, it's a pressure fit. The us seal instructions have warnings against using any silicone based products near the rubber on their seals. You could use some synthetic lube around the metal cup portion to make the pressing go smoothly.

      @@2Timothy3END I don't know if that motor is available anymore since they switched to the variable speed motor. I looked for it but can only find the 1HP & 1.5HP motors. You could take that motor & have it rebuilt at a shop that does starters, alternators, & motors. That might be your best bet. Sorry I couldn't help. Helpful video, however he repeated refers to the "volute" as the "impeller". The impeller is held on by the left-hand threaded bolt. The volute is the part held on by the alan screw. The impeller spins inside the volute

    how much would you say you saved by doing this yourself? this is inspiring me to take on my pool water heater that went out with a bad lighting storm.

    • @ApartmentMaintenance
      @ApartmentMaintenance  4 роки тому +2

      For a pool company to come out and repair the motor on-site I would of spent a couple hundred dollars, roughly $350-$450. That would be just the seal kit & labor as I would of ordered the motor myself, which the motor I believe was $535 if I can remember correctly. That was August of 2019 I did that job, & posted the video around the start of pool season this year. The seal kit is $40-$45 alone, which they would of marked up the price on that, then add labor, which they would of quoted it 2 hours, basically to make it worth their trip, maybe 3 hours who knows ? Took me a half hour to do it, but I've also done them before, and I was filming which takes longer, cuz sometimes I may have to record something twice if I got interrupted or whatever. Definitely try it on your own if you feel comfortable & have the tools to do the job. Thanks for watching Hous3mode & Subscribe to the channel 👍

    What if it keeps leaking after you do all that

    • @ApartmentMaintenance
      @ApartmentMaintenance  2 роки тому

      Make sure you have the correct repair kit. If the kit is correct, I would say it sounds like the seals or shaft seal isn't seated properly. I would take it back apart & double check everything & reinstall if it is the correct kit. Thanks for watching 9-5 👍

      Most likely area for mistakes is the main fitted gasket, the odd shaped one that fits in the channel. You really need to take some time to make sure it is perfectly in the groove and flat. Also need silicone lube in the groove before sticking the gasket in, plus silicone lube on it before mounting back to the pump body
