I am part of that 95%. I just enjoy the music, but I can't tell if a violinist is good or amazing. And tbh I think I prefer blissful ignorance on this one.
I for example like André Rieu very much. It is his vision that music is magical and he wants to bring joy to everyone with music. And that is exactly what he is doing, skillful or not.

But if you listen to it a few times and listen to different people performing it you will hear that one has more nuances, more depth, better intonation etc.

Calvin Nest to me it just seems like bullshit, in that you could be extremely passionate and just be still as a rock with a blank facial expression, but everyone does it to look cool, and it does so I have no problem with it, but imo there is no "making it", you just keep on faking, and btw I'm not a musician just basically pulling this out of my ass

Triggly Puff I play the clarinet and I was the 2nd best when I tried out for Honor Band. When I told my mom, I said that I was 2nd chair. I literally meant the 2nd chair, but she thought I meant that I was playing the 2nd clarinet part. (She played the clarinet in highschool, so she was very confused with me lol) We eventually decided to say that I was the 2nd chair that played the 1st clarinet part.

My mom is more chill and doesnt force us to do anything. Since I am only in 8th grade playing at a higher level than she was in highschool, she was impressed that I got into it. Last year when I tried out in 7th grade, I wasn't prepared enough and had a panic attack in front of the judge and started crying in the audition room. Ironically enough, I beat myself up more about how well I do on the clarinet than my mom. (Sorry. That was way too long of a reply)

this is brilliant. the dialog and the performance. and it's old! you guys have been great for a long time. I am absolutely positive it doesn't have millions and millions of views (it's 2020) because most of the people who watch this play violin. and they are embarrassed by you poking fun at what they actually do when that are in the groove making music. just my conjecture. well done við, guys
