Hi Russell i lived 2 years in Moscow in the 90,s. I recognized the appertments on the other side of that shopping center. There used to be a old industrial complex in wich a client from me had his Flowershop/import there. It was a Italian guy from the Genova region and he was married with a friendly russian lady who used to work for the KGB. But at the warshavskoe shosse about 2 km before the old inner ring road7garden ring there was then a huge market where 90% of the stands and vendors were Vietnamese people. I used to deliver there also flowers. That company was called : Flower House or Sbetovski Dom. Great memory,s and like your video,s. Living now in spain,but when my Father in Law is no more with us, we are thinking very serious to move over to Russia. But in am thinking more of the Niznhy Novgorod or Kazan area. or maybe even closer to the Ural mountains.Let the comming those video,s.

My wife misses her mangos and pineapples from Bali and Lombok.
Indonesia has a variety of mangos with different taste. Honey pineapple is juicy and sweet.

we go to the hanoi-moskva shopping mall all the time!!! love the food court and shops! there's actually a free minibus that goes from VDNKh metro station straight to the mall and back 😁
I caught the regular public blue bus there and back. I didn't see where the free one left from. For sure I am going to go back though. I am craving more food now.
Thanks for a quite interesting video! What I would recommend to film is an Oriental Market at hotel "Sevastopol". Establishing in 1990th, this immense market is still situated in high-rise bilding and, probably, the last one of this type of markets in Moscow.
I know this place. There not too friendly with people filming in there though. My wife likes to go to this place to buy salon supplies. A very interesting place for sure. They even had a shop in there only selling door handles and doorknobs.
Pho is one of my favorite foods! I was not even aware that there was a Vietnamese population in Russia. Thank you for sharing this with us!

Hello! From vietnamese cuisine I prefer not the famouse "Pho Bo" soup but a dish called "Bo Luk Lak". It's chopped beef with rice and some vegetables like pepper and onions in a very !very! special sauce. You can literally lick your fingers after eating it. Try it! Alex from Govorovo.

@@TravellingwithRussell it has an awesome forest park next to "hanoi" called "moose island" because the mooses appear in there sometimes, though i havent seen them since 2015. Its a nice place to walk around and rest. If there'd be an occasion for you to be around once again i recommend visit the place.

A lot of these older shopping centers were built during soviet times. So, they have very classic looking architecture.
Russia is booming, while the West is dying. Makes Russia more attractive to live in by the day. You're very lucky to be there Russell.
It's certainly eye opening when you spend a little more time here exploring places like this.

I live not far from there. I've been to this place a few times to buy authentic Asian (not only Vietnamese, but also Chinese and Indian) food and summer clothes. I also tasted Tom Yum for the first time there, and learnt to cook it at home.
Sometimes the smaller places are more interesting. Great video.

I would love to visit there someday. If not even lived there after what I have seen. How well would an American be accepted by the Russian people? Sorry, yes. You need to get the Metro to VDNKh station. And then bus no. 544, which stops right outside the mall.

Very interesting to see stores in Russia
We do not have those types of clean and well-set stores in Canada and down south.
Our business is run down by a corrupt City with very high taxes plus rent for the store
In many cases, people can't afford to pay business tax
These micro businesses are all over Russia. There even encouraged by the local government and administration.
We're I live in the US, we have these Asian stores mainly run by Koreans.

I'm Vietnamese myself but I don't live in Russia but it looks like people in that mall looks so unhappy and depressed when they saw you recording their establishments/restaurants?
It really wasn't like that. I had lunch there, i chatted to many people in the mall. Even channel subscribers who recognized me.
Good Evening Professor Russell! I didn’t know either! In Annapolis MD … Kent Island… this one Vietnamese Falmily travels to only one Vietnamese Store to buy their household food products! The drive one way takes over forty minutes. Vietnamese people who were there in South Vietnam when our American bombs fell, these are the folks I know, they are nearly 100% in their food shopping! I live in Moscow between two international airports (VKO and DME). The 'spray1ng' used to be heavy before, but completely stopped in March 2020 (if you know.. you know). Basically it never resumed because in 2022 Russia was sanct10ned (European and US airlines do not use Russian airspace anymore) and air traffic is not as heavy as it was just 4-5 yrs ago. Only local or Asian airlines are allowed. So yeah, the sky here is clear and look very natural 😅like on old paintings.
We still have blue skies in America.

I always laugh when people think only one nationality can cook a type of food well. Over 90% of the time a place is known for a certain type of food, somewhere else does it way better.

I forgot all about it. Sorry. The meal was 835 rubles for the soup, spring rolls and coca cola. So right about $8.98 usd for the meal as I showed in the video.

Я знаю, что для большинства американцев очень тяжело воспринимать культурный контент. Но всё же стоит попробовать.
West is narrow minded when comes culture of other counteries. That is all these video by western you tuber are cut and dry with contant. It is all about shopping, technology, going to mall, metro station and sky scrapers etc etc.

@efimkrivov Я работал в розничной торговле с четырнадцати лет. Именно так я начал свой канал. Я пытаюсь смешивать свой контент с разными видео. Я даже посетил несколько парков Москвы. Я поехал на знаменитый завод «Москвич» в Москве.
@@TravellingwithRussell парки это масс-культура. Наверное стоит снять про них по одному видео и достаточно. Завод ЗИЛ - не очень понимаю, что можно про него рассказать. Если только историю. Я честно говоря, не могу понять, что именно интересует западного зрителя в рассказах про однотипные торговые площади. Неужели их кругозор настолько узок, что действительно стоящие внимание places of interest для них тоскливая невыносимая ерунда? Как-то посмотрел несколько видео пары из Канады, которые побывали несколько лет назад в Москве. Они снимали себя исключительно в ресторанах, а посещение Успенского собора в Кремле признали бессмысленной тратой денег. Я много думал.
