As a diehard Pitt guy and alum, I was really excited when I found out he was transferring here. Kid obviously had elite talent and a great head for the game. I felt soo bad when he got hurt because I loved watching him. Glad to know he's doing well and he's pretty good as an analyst. Keep your head up Max, you accomplished some great things. #HailtoPitt
Played against him in high school and was one of the best QBs you could ever see or play. It’s a blessing he’s turned out to be an incredible human being. He’s relatable a lot of athletes end up on his same path like myself. Hearing the line finding peace with life without football is a relief. That’s how I’d word it too, life is bigger than football but any former football player will choke up admitting that. Keep killin life max, blessings to you
Series of bad coaching decisions. Couple of bad AD decisions as well. Obviously players have to execute but, in general, coaching is at the heart of the game.
@Gardner Barnes I'm not even a fan of LSU or anything close. And where does covid come into this? I'm just saying if you look at it historically you wouldn't be a guaranteed "yes" to his firing. Why you so fucking mad?
His 1st start came against an absolutely loaded Alabama defense in 2016 season, the speed and physicality of that group really effected his mental clock as a QB and by the time he got over that the injury bug showed its ugly face, the guy just caught all the wrong breaks.
Good story. It is unfortunate that he had to endure the coaching changes that he did. Glad that he has kept a positive attitude. Anyone else notice that Joe Burrow looks a good bit like him?
Remember watching him on the USC practice field. He never looked confident or comfortable Waited 3 yrs for his chance, then his first start was against Alabama. Lost position to Sam Darnold then transferred. Seemed to be doing ok at Pitt then injured. Deserved a better fate..
I think it was more about where he choose to go to school then talent. If he would have went to one of the schools that had stability of coaches and won games he would have been in the NFL.
Max Browne had a ton of talent however when he got to USC Cody Kessler had won that job and for three years Kessler never let the job go. Kessler was not a great OB but a very good and productive OB. When Max Browne finally got the start his first start was against a great Alabama team. My opinion was T Martin called the worst game for a first time stating OB in history. Instead of calling a conservative game T Martin through him to a great team and Browne never recovered.
It wouldn't have mattered how he called that game, because 'Bama was the reigning national champion, so they could have had Charlie Weis in his prime, and USC would have been beaten by 28. I hate it for Max though, but he was just in a bad situation. Sometimes it's great to go to schools because of hype and location, but sometimes it's about what you can do in a place that needs you to blaze a trail. I honestly think he would have been better suited going to a Pac-12 team that could have really used an elite QB. This is a lesson though, about life. He's somebody who isn't defined by football, but by how he's content, without the glitz and the glamour.
Have you done a video for Tate Martell, bro? Went to OSU then transferred out to Miami. Never found success as he got switched from QB to WR while being a Cane. Always wondered what happened other than possible attitude issues.
I always wanted to know what happened to Max. He was the only QB I've ever heard compared to Peyton Manning. That was his supposed ceiling. I am glad he's doing well.
All these videos of the #1 player at the position who turned out to be a bust, can be summed up like this. They became a top player, because they were bigger, stronger, faster and/or threw better than kids their own age. When they got to college, where everybody they played against, was among the best of the best in their area, they just couldn't keep up. Some had it so easy growing up, that when the competition was just as big and strong, they couldn't keep up. It happens every year.
Wtf happened to USC? It has to hold the record of most NFL QB busts. Matt Leinhart, Mark Sanchez, Matt Barkley, Sam Darnold (at the moment), that ESPN 30 for 30 red head quarterback,
1:40 mark Oh, there he is beating...my high school. Yeah, we had front row seats to the Max Browne and Jake Heaps show for six straight years. In that time period (2007-2012), Skyline won the State Title 5 out of 6 years. (2010 was Max Browne's sophomore year and they lost to senior Connor Halladay of Ferris HS, who would later become the starting QB at Wazzu). Both Heaps and Browne had disappointing college careers.
Crazy to think he was the #1 player in the state of Washington over Myles Jack.. who also had 3 state titles and whose team finished ranked #1 nationally for the 2012 season.
Nice video I was surprised you went easy on coach Sark, "he was let go due to health concerns" or maybe that wasn't your fault since you might have been reading from someone's else's script. Overall I would say, good job, good effort.
Anyone else notice how the QB position more than any other suffers from good or bad vibes and seems dependent on favorable timing of several factors (coaching, Oline, schedule, other QBs). Seems like a QB who endures more than 1 strike at his first team should consider bailing out to a school that could use a 4 or 5 star recruit.
Clemson was a top school in 2012. They went 11-2 and would have been a title contender if florida state wasn't so damn good and beat number 8 lsu that year.
Its pretty simple as to why Max didn't live up to the hype. Two words. Clay Helton. Helton isnt a good coach at all. He was the QB coach at the time. Has anyone every heard of Helton developing quarterbacks while at USC? Has anyone every heard of Helton being the QB whisperer? No. Not one bit. Lack of coaching from Helton is an indictment as to why USC has been miserable under his watch and why he should have been fired already
Interesting......not only a number of coaching changes but new systems to learn and trying to mechanically do things the way the QB COACH thinks it should be done.I wonder if he would have been allowed to to use his talents without all the mechanically changes h would have been much better. I wonder if that’s Slovis’s problem at USC
@@ScottFisherCFB He was the top HS RB in the Class of 2010. He was from San Diego. Went to USC and was expected to be the next Reggie Bush. Showed promise in scrimmages and as a Freshman. Then had a myriad of personal issues and transferred. Would be a good video.
Lmao i went to high school with him. He was never a real 5 star talent. Average stats, and played bad against other good teams. His WRs made him look better than he was. Two D2 and one D1 WRs. Oh yeah he was also a hold back who graduated at 19.5 years old
a victim of circumstance more than anything... usc was a shit show and he took the brunt of it. i remember thinking kessler was so mediocre but played justtt well enough not to lose his starting job. had browne not been sidelined for 3 years as a redshirt and backup he would’ve probably broken out
Appreciate everyone watching. College Football chapter didn’t work out for me but I enjoy sharing my story ✊🏻✊🏻
Appreciate you taking the time to watch Max!
Agreed Scott
Much love for you max wherever life takes you!
The greatest of all times is something we may never know.
Thanks Scott for telling it.
Max is a true winner.
What a testament to championship heart

I met Max during my sophomore year on campus. One of the nicest guys you'll ever meet and extremely selfless. Fight On Max!
Random side note: USC moving on from Ed Orgeron must rank up there in the bad HC decisions of recent memory
Series of bad coaching decisions. Couple of bad AD decisions as well. Obviously players have to execute but, in general, coaching is at the heart of the game.
I lost faith back then
@Gardner Barnes ah yes that sample size of exactly ONE firing after a national championship
@Gardner Barnes I'm not even a fan of LSU or anything close. And where does covid come into this? I'm just saying if you look at it historically you wouldn't be a guaranteed "yes" to his firing. Why you so fucking mad?
Agree one hundred 💯%!
I love this channel played football since I was 7 yrs old after college took me awhile to find happiness off the field. 👌💯

Got to see him kill it in high school back when I was a little kid, was an absolute blast
Very interesting,I guess being a Gator fan and being on the opposite coast,I just dont remember him out of high school. Enlightening video!!
Thank you! I am glad you enjoyed it
Well, God bless him. At least he’s not living in the past

He is a very good post-game analyst. Very technical but easy to understand.
Just about all USC QBS turn out to be busts and they never live up to their potential.
Of the top of my head Sanchez would be the best nfl qb and that’s fucked
Matt Cassel had somewhat of a decent career atleast he started for awhile, and...*cough* Rodney Peete, Carson Palmer...do u guys KNOW football?

Max Browne won every award a high school quarterback could win. I thought he would be great for usc but no such luck.

Sooner fan here. Sooners picked up Cody Thomas instead but he left for the OU baseball team. Sooners ended up with a walk-on starting at QB.
