I'm in love. Loved him when I saw him with Elvin Bishop at a small venue called Ebbetts Field (long time gone) in Denver. He was standing right in front of me booming that beautiful voice. I still remember that night- must have been early 70's. Wow, what memories.
My second favorite singer from that area and that era. I loved seeing him sing he's got a beautiful voice and he's a beautiful man. Second only in voice and character to Steve Perry
I saw them in Little Rock in the early 80's...i was standing at the stage touching it. Mickey had a tee shirt on and in very small letters it said, " bake ms piggy". Grace was in front of me. It was truly amazing.
This interview must be from the early 80s. Maybe 1982 or 1983 perhaps. Anyway, I love this interview. I love how they were all playing pool ball together and Mickey drumming during his interview. Especially when he was drumming his foot at 2:51. Not to be sexist or anything, but I love Mickey Thomas’s singing and speaking voice. His speaking voice is very calming and soothing. Also his voice and accent is cute. His singing voice is especially phenomenal. Even today it is.
One of the greatest and in my opinion one of the most underrated singers in the business. I rate him right up there with Randy Meisner, Timothy B Schmitt, Bradley Delp or Tommy Shaw. He is just amazing!!!
I’ve been singing for 47 years, and this man is simply one of the best ever. He’s actually a genetic vocal Freakazoid. Even at the age of 71 now, the guy is still absolutely flawless. One thing I’ve never been able to understand about some of these guys, is the fact that they smoke. You probably can’t get a worse situation for a singer, aside from drinking excessive alcohol. It doesn’t make sense. And yet this guys voice and technique or pristine and absolutely unbelievable.
some singers with really clean voices will smoke to get more of an edge. (not saying that is why he did it) but I have heard that before (for other singers). I'd never smoke to get that edge. I'd just push my voice a bit more.
Well, I think that the problem is in the amount of cigarrettes are smoked, but I'm not completely sure, I know a lot a singers that are smokers but they have a certain limit in a day
It is but back in my heyday it helped me maintain a very high, tinny falsetto. Now after the throat surgery 20yrs later…yeah ya lose everything when they remove those growths and callouses. I know it sounds gross, but you push that air past those tight spaces and the pitch is into the stratosphere

HE,S A PHENOMENAL VOCALIST, HIS VOICE AND RANGE, ARE UNREAL
Their songs will be played on radio for generations to come, over and over... Nobody will ever play or remember biebers or rappers
Makes me sick. I wish I could sing like that.
He was just Adorable!
Awesome interview Mickey Thomas is down to earth

i hope he's stopped smoking : (( His voice is awesome!!!
@@lisalarson9860 I have a feeling the cigs are long gone from his life.

I really appreciate him saying he didn't get into the John Lennon jokes - good guy!
Interesting that they were shooting pool since Mickey’s dad owned the pool hall in Cairo.
his speaking voice sounds just like steve perrys speaking voice. and whats with the smoking? thought that was bad for the voice...

It absolutely is. Nothing about them is safe for the voice or for the body in general for that matter.

Sounds like Cheech and Chong talking.
He's a great singer. ....better than Steve Perry
Audio sucks
Grace didn't drop out of rock and roll she had two solo albums in between EARTH and MODERN TIMES ! He is SO WEIRD !
Witouth Mickey Thomas joining Starship, Grace and the rest of the band were not going to release a next album, it was musically repetitive!
Keeps rubbing and touching his nose...cocaine?
So handsome and southerner ❤
