  • Please don't ask me to forward plans. Myfordboy has worked hard to produce these plans and credit to him it is only fair to pay the very reasonable cost for the plans if you want to build one.
This is the compact power hacksaw made from plans supplied by MyfordBoy.

Have you put this to Myfordboy? I merely built from his plans. I agree the blade is not standard since it has to have a hole drilled/spark eroded to fit the bow. The tensioner design works a treat and works similar to hand hacksaw tensioners. Despite the shortish stroke and high reciprocation rate it does all I ask of it. Have you watched Myfordboys videos of this saw? I recommend you do.

you should go to myfoldboy video on the hacksaw it is titled "compact" and the blade is tight enough by design because there is not "human error" involved in the sawing.

The motor is 1450 rpm, single phase. Belt drive is approx 7:1 giving around 210 rpm at the saw crank

It's a copy of an alternative patented kennedy saw. But the copy is not very good because the dimensions of the bow are not adapted for the length of a standard blade. The blade is new but is it tightened well for a normal life ?

It doesn't matter which way the pulley rotates as it still gives the same reciprocating action.

I didn't track how much it cost when building. A lot depends on what you have available to build it and also how good a scrounger you are! :-)
The motor would be quite a cost but I was given mine.

Its difficult to say the cost. Most materials were scrounged but I bought bearings and some metal stock. The motor was kindly donated to me. For the plans search on here for Myfordboy Hacksaw.

My motor says 1/6 HP and seems to cope ok. 1/4HP are more widely available
