Congratulations on the video and I'm glad you're back, I hope you can make a video about sim racing on the bigscreen, I'm passionate about simracing and I currently use the hp reverb G2, but I dream every day of being able to have the bigscreen, who knows when to do the draw I can also participate
So, I did try sim racing previously, but I got really motion sick. I played Assetto Corsa Competizione and I did like it, but I was not a good driver and kept crashing (HAHA) and the motion was making me nauseous. I will say, for those who will play sim racing games... the Bigscreen Beyond might be the best headset. Here is why... With the Bigscreen Beyond there is a motion blur that occurs and depending on what brightness you set the headset at depends on how much blur you'll get. The higher the brightness the more the motion blur is. With sim racing you're not moving your head nearly as much as you would in a FPS game so the motion blur is minimized. Then you have excellent visuals, pretty decent FOV and an extremely light headset. Add the AMVR (or any manufacturer) head strap plastic piece and you'll be the most comfortable you've ever been in a VR headset.
My buddy doesn't sell them. However, I did find the Printables link so you could 3D print it yourself. I personally don't own a 3D printer so that is why my friend sent them to me. Here is the link: www.printables.com/model/585216-bigscreen-beyond-strap-hook
Well I actually have a question that I can't seem to find an answer to anywhere - I've been seeiously considering this headset, but what's worrying me is the lens size, doesn't them being this small force you to always look into one spot and to not actually use your eyes to look at things, but to rotate your head instead, just like with first vive, psvr, oculus etc? Moving to index and being actually able to use my eyes to look at things clearly has been the biggest comfort jump that I've experienced with VR headsets in general, and it would really suck to go back to this unnatural-rotate-your-head-to-see-thing
So, you can use your eyes and look around and you can also use your head. Moving your head is easier in this headset and feels more natural because the headset is so small and lightweight. You can also look around very easily as well. The Index does have a larger FOV so it would be easier to just move your eyes in that headset. However, the size of the lens doesn't always dictate FOV. If you check out my other video where I compare the Bigscreen Beyond, Meta Quest 3 and the Apple Vision Pro you can see the difference in the lens size, but all of those headset have similar FOV's (within maybe 10 degrees). Meta's lenses are the largest and they also have the largest screen so there isn't as much amplification. This leads to the largest sweet spot. The Bigscreen Beyond's screen are the size of a postage stamp and the lenses are small so they have to amplify more. That is why the Beyond has a smaller sweet spot and degrades as you start to look towards the edges of the lens. I personally didn't like the Index because I really liked my Vive Pro and the OLED screen. Index has LCD and the colors weren't as great and the blacks were not black on the Index. So I stayed with my Vive Pro for a very long time. I personally LOVE the OLED blacks and the better colors and thats one of the many reasons why I choose to stick with my Beyond.
I may have a reason that you are getting better E2E clairity than other users. My Edge 2 Edge clarity was BAD, bad enough that I was contemplating selling my BSB. So BSB sent me another face gasket thats thinner and therefore puts my eyes closer to the lenses, this improved the E2E clarity some, but theres still room for my eyes to get just a little closer, that is key, at least for me. The key for me is to get my eyes as close to the lenses as possible without my eyelashes touching too much. This significantly improves E2E clarity for me. So rather than paying for another face gasket from BSB (they have already sent me 2 extras for free), Im having a friend 3D print a couple to experiment with. You guys with really bad E2E clarity, put on your headset, concentrate on an area outside of the sweetspot, then mash the headset as close to your face/eyes as you can, you should see an improvement. Anyhow I hope you BSB users can do this mod to improve your E2E clarity. Cheers!
There is a top strap that goes from side to side that comes with the box. There are also mods available to 3D print where you could add a top strap that goes from front to back... nothing that is for sale.
Hi, what are your thoughts about 90HZ refresh rate? I have Valve Index now, and thinking about upgrade. Tried switching to 90Hz on index from 120Hz, and in fast moving games like beat saber or synthriders, I can see the difference. Are there any ways to overclock it to 120Hz?
There is no way to overclock the headset. So, I do think you'll notice too much of a difference between the Beyond 90hz and Index 120hz. BUT the Beyond does have motion blur when you are at 100% brightness or higher. That is one issue that some people cannot stand about the Beyond. For me personally I don't mind it because of the higher clarity, small form factor and less weight. I LOVE playing Beat Saber on the Beyond just for the colors and the deep blacks. It makes that game look really nice.
@@gamer.z3ro Thanks for reply! Actually, on index there is also motion blur when brightness is over 120-130%, I myself prefer about 80%, so potentially I can get rid of motion blur in beyond as well.
Although I really like my beyond, I really really disagree about great e2e clarity. I find it extremely lack luster. Seeming the outer 50% or so of the optics seem borderline unusable and are a blur.. you have to look with your gear vs moving your eyeballs. HUD elements that are placed near the edge are a mess. I do feel like my gasket was quite thick and I’m hoping the thinner gasket I’m set to receive in 2-3 weeks will give me more usable screen and a bigger sweet spot.
Lets hope you have a better face gasket and a better experience. It does get blurry the further out you look, but I feel it is similar to current fresnel lenses in that aspect.
About E2E clarity.I have a quest 2 with frensel lenses and until i searched for it and learned what E2E is,i didnt even notice it. I noticed the god rays and blooming, but because i wear glasses, all of my life i am used to looking at the centre. When i wore contact lenses for the first time i was blown away by how much FOV and freedom you have by not wearing glasses. OFC then it gets normal again and its not that impressive anymore. Thing is your brain compensates a lot more that you think and get used to most things.
Yes, your brain does get used to things, BUT going from a Quest 2 to a Quest 3 or Apple Vision Pro or Quest Pro is a pretty major upgrade and difference in overall clarity.
So, having experience with the Vive Pro, Quest 2, Quest Pro and Quest 3... the Bigscreen Beyond has the best distance resolution. When I am playing Onward I can see things more clearly with the Bigscreen Beyond than any of the other headsets.
The FOV is fine for me. Do I want more? Sure. We all would, but the FOV is slightly better than a Quest 2. As far as 75hz vs 90... I prefer to use the 75hz to play competitively because the image is slightly sharper.

Very sorry to hear about your experience. That is not the case with the majority of users. I would 100% get into the Bigscreen Beyond discord and reach out for help on there. They are VERY responsive and will most likely have you redo your face scan and send you a new cushion. If that doesn't fix it they may resend an entire unit out. There have been a few people who had face gasket issues and were taken care of quickly and others who had issues with their device and they were taken care of quickly as well.
No, it was regular people that are apart of their discord. They have a ticket option on their and things usually get handled pretty quickly and the community helps with other issues when software was not loading automatically and stuff like that. I 100% think he should go on their discord and sort this out. He (and everyone) should be having a much better experience than what he is having.
I've been wondering, what is the setup on the bigscreen like. Is there like a third party app that comes into play when trying to play, kinda like the Viveport?
No additional apps are needed. Just connect you bigscreen Beyond to your computer, start up SteamVR and play your games. However, if you want to change the color of the LED on your headset, adjust the screen brightness or change between 75hz and 90hz you will need the Bigscreen Utility Tool. That tool is not needed to use the headset, but just make changes to the headset. I hope I answered your question properly.
Hey, thank you for all the info on the beyond! Can you please compare FoV with the Vive Pro? Also, is black blacker than the Vive? I've heard microOLED doesn't have mura so theoretically much cleaner blacks?
So, I would say the FOV is slightly smaller with the Bigscreen Beyond, but everything is WAY more clear. The blacks are similar, but better on the Beyond. No mura at all. I did do a mod on my Vive Pro and switch the lenses and put in lenses from the Samsung Gear VR so I wasn't using fresnel lenses for almost a year or 2. That actually made a HUGE difference in glare and clarity. I could see the screen door effect much more, but was worth the money I spent on Etsy buying the lenses and the 3d printed lens holder for the Vive Pro.
@@gamer.z3ro thank you for answering! I also did the mod back in the day, but sadly pupil swim was a real thing for me and I had to go back to fresnel. I'm looking forward to no SDE in any case
Unfortunately not. You'll need lighthouse base stations from Valve or HTC and then you'll need Steam VR controllers such as Valve Knuckles controllers or Vive Wands.
No sir. You'll need at least 1 lighthouse for tracking. If you're going to do any sort of roomscale you'll want a minimum of 2 lighthouses for tracking.
So im really interested in the headset, I dont know anyone with iphone. Im really hesitant to go into apple store and get my 3D face scan done there. Any thoughts on getting that done.
That is an issue for some people. There were quite a few people who went to an Apple Store and did their Face Scan. It only takes maybe 5 minutes. You could also try an Version store or AT&T store as well. There will be less people all up in your space. I do wish there was a better option.
I have not. I bought the Sword controllers and quickly returned them for being terrible. I know a few people who have the Crystal and love the clarity, but hate ghe size and weight of the headset.
I am not a fan of Pimax headsets because of the size and weight of them... then the software not being great doesn't help either. So I have stayed away from it.
Personally, I use my computer strictly for VR gaming. Once I am done gaming I unplug the cable from the link box and shut off the computer. I use a Mac for every day life an work.
OLED screens don't burn in in VR, your head's always moving. As for burning out, there's not much you can really do to avoid it but turn the beyond's brightness down. At 100% it'll last around 2500 - 3000h before it starts to get dimmer.
Great review! Can you comment some more about the difference between the Aero and the Bigscreen? How are the sweetspot different, and how much diff is there in the actual FOV?
So, I had the Varjo Aero for about a week before I returned it. The vertical FOV is TERRIBLE. I think somewhere around 70. I also didn't like some of the color issues I had. The color red seemed to pop out at you and the color blue seemed to be sucked in. It was jarring for me. The clarity was amazing and the entire lens was the sweet spot. However, I would 100% buy a Bigscreen Beyond over a Varjo Aero.
It does have a small sweet spot and yes the image does degrade as you look around the lenses, BUT the image degrades to the point where your worst spot is the worst spot on a Quest Pro. I believe the lenses go from a 32 PPD to a 20 PPD.
@@andersdanielrasmussen8303 apparently it's so light, you just naturally turn your head, with no inertia so its more/less not a factor...but i am sitting and simracing so my fov is about my helmet's...long stints for endurance racing, here i come !
I am a complete noob when it comes to that. I will get with a few VR buddies that know how to install this and get the controls working and everything and try a few games.

I ordered mine the day the Bigscreen Beyond was announced. So I waiting quite a few months to receive mine. Now that they have production getting up to speed people should be receiving their headsets quickly. Maybe a month or so from order date.
While production certainly has increased, demand has as well. The website currently says 2-3 months after purchase. I purchased mine late August when they said August-September orders would get them Q4 2023, but I barely got the face scan email early December, where the email said it would be manufactured in the next few months. There has been no indication that I will get mine in January. Maybe February...
Not sure if this pertains to you or not, but I believe that there is also an issue with the prescription lens inserts. They have had issues with those and have caused delays shipping certain people's order. I do agree that orders have probably gone up since Valve hasn't announce their headset and people want an upgrade to their Vive's and Index's.
@@gamer.z3ro It probably does, and I did read about that in the update emails and posts. My prescription isn't very strong though. And Bigscreen has never contacted me specifically, on if or why my order would be delayed in comparison to others'. I think that Linus video definitely boosted demand
What Bigscreen Beyond has failed to announce is that the Beyond doesn’t work well with the AMD GPU’s. They told me it would be better to buy a different GPU!!!!…… and now want to charge me a 15% restocking fee!!! I’m so pissed off after the wait and a terrible experience. Now they want a 15% restocking FEE!!!!!!
Here is a link to the Bigscreen Beyond clarity and FOV update from June 2023 (store.bigscreenvr.com/blogs/beyond/development-update-5) . The outer ring of clarity is a 21 PPD. The Quest Pro had a PPD of 22. Just Google "What is the PPD of a Quest Pro?". I know it sounds crazy, but I am just going off from the useage I have and the info I can read online. One thing that Quest Pro & Quest 3 has better (in my opinion) is better brightness. The reason I say that is because with the normal brightness of the Bigscreen Beyond it is too dark for me. I turn the brightness up, but when you do that the motion blur occurs more. That doesn't happen with the Quest Pro nor the Quest 3.
Hahaha The edge to edge being quite great. The only way you're looking around with this device is to turn your head, the sweet spot is pretty small, and heck yeah you notice the blurry edges, your brain doesn't make them disappear you simply tolerate it. Geeze stop sugar coating this stuff, people are buying based on your opinions. I've had the beyond for a min now and as far as comfort I'm still waiting for my beyond to be corrected. Don't get me wrong it's an amazing hmd as long as you temper your expectations, a lot of sacrifices were taken. The glare is def an issue, not a game changer but your brain doesn't mask it out or anything unrealistic as that, you simply tolerate it. Hopefully, the next batch of hmds feature micro oleds but with a better set of optics.
Around the edge of VR lens has blur or some sort of distortion and will most likely always be that way because of how the lenses are magnifying the image. But as your eye moves away from the sweet spot in the Bigscreen Beyond the PPD is still better than many headsets sweet spot (Index, Vive Pro, any Quest headset). That is just a fact. As far as the glare, when I am wearing the headset correctly I hardly notice the glare and has become a non issue. I feel your opinion might be changed once you have the your corrected headset.
Agreed. I’ve had my BSB for about 6 weeks or so and I completely agree about rather poor e2e clarity and a very small sweet spot. It’s a good product but definitely has a TON of room for improvement. Given the choice, I’d prefer a product that’s 2x the weight, but one with a larger FOV, bigger sweet spot etc but still OLED. I think the “deckard” will hopefully be the true Index 2.0 I want and I’ll be stuck with a personalized paperweight baga

@gamer.z3ro yes, that does answer my question. I'm waiting for my headset to come in. Looking forward to playing on it.
Enjoy!
I do think you'll love the Beyond if you decide to buy one.
@@gamer.z3ro already ordered and looking forward to it :)
I hope you enjoy!
Will my Rift CV1 controllers work with this? I'm still using a CV1 lol because I cannot play without OLED and the light weight
Unfortunately not. You'll need lighthouse base stations from Valve or HTC and then you'll need Steam VR controllers such as Valve Knuckles controllers or Vive Wands.
Dang that sucks! Can I just play with an Xbox controller until I get the scratch for all that? Thanks! @@gamer.z3ro
Have you tried the Pimax Crystal?
I have not. I bought the Sword controllers and quickly returned them for being terrible. I know a few people who have the Crystal and love the clarity, but hate ghe size and weight of the headset.
yeah its an absolute unit, literally the size of a toaster
@@gamer.z3ro
I am not a fan of Pimax headsets because of the size and weight of them... then the software not being great doesn't help either. So I have stayed away from it.
Thank you) Have you done anything to avoid OLED screens burning out?
Personally, I use my computer strictly for VR gaming. Once I am done gaming I unplug the cable from the link box and shut off the computer. I use a Mac for every day life an work.
OLED screens don't burn in in VR, your head's always moving. As for burning out, there's not much you can really do to avoid it but turn the beyond's brightness down. At 100% it'll last around 2500 - 3000h before it starts to get dimmer.
@@RidgeXR_2 Thank you)
I misread your comment. Glad Ridge was able to clear it up.
Thank you for clarifying. I misread the comment.
@@gamer.z3ro I see your point. But doesn't the Bigscreen have a very small sweet point which limits how much you can turn your eyes in the headset?
It does have a small sweet spot and yes the image does degrade as you look around the lenses, BUT the image degrades to the point where your worst spot is the worst spot on a Quest Pro. I believe the lenses go from a 32 PPD to a 20 PPD.
@@andersdanielrasmussen8303 apparently it's so light, you just naturally turn your head, with no inertia so its more/less not a factor...but i am sitting and simracing so my fov is about my helmet's...long stints for endurance racing, here i come !
Varjo just announced they are not selling the aero directly from them anymore, and are stopping support for it in 2 years and 5 months@@gamer.z3ro
what games u going for for 2024?
I really want to sink my teeth into Arizona Sunshine 2. I loved the first one and I haven't been able to play the newest one yet. How about you?
should also dive into UEVR opens up a ton of games that work flawless with a little tinkering. @@gamer.z3ro
I am a complete noob when it comes to that. I will get with a few VR buddies that know how to install this and get the controls working and everything and try a few games.
@@gamer.z3ro will jump on AS2 when its on sale later in the year. at the moment im just following geronimo... but i am interested in looking at trying out the UEVR mod and run it on the nonVR game, SQUAD...
Should be fun!
how long was it till you got your headset?
Yeah, the LTT video for sure helped boost demand. You'll get your headset soon enough and you'll be happy with your purchase.
Sorry to hear. I didn't know of the AMD issues at all.
I know the setup requires an extra step with AMD GPUs (changing display settings for '2nd monitor'), but to what other issues might you be referring?
What amd do you have?
lmfao, sorry but the big ass headstrap on such a small light weight headset just cracked me up a bit.. thanks for the laught though! xD
HAHA. It didn't feel right doing it, but it really does make the device more comfortable. I really just miss having a rigid strap.
@@gamer.z3ro would be nice to know how this would compare to the original audio strap they now provide on their website
I have changed from the M2 strap to the BoboVR M1 strap and use the top strap that came with the Beyond. It is really comfortable.
The worst spot on BSB is as good a the best on quest pro. No way?! For real?
