- I started this channel back in 2014 to cover the construction of a new hospital in San Francisco -- 12 stories high and an entire city block. For almost 5 years, I posted regular videos of that construction, both regular weekly, sometimes multi-weekly, episodes as well as various other videos covering miscellaneous construction happenings along the way.
When I first started, I was just going to do simple, straight-forward time-lapses. But then I started throwing in some closeups, "sub time-lapses" as I call them, and things kind of snowballed from there, and eventually over time the videos got more complex. Each episode contained a mixture of time-lapses, closeups and sometimes even various happenings near the construction site that weren't really anything to do with the construction itself.
It ended up being 280 videos over 244 weeks lasting from June 2014 to March 2019.
Since that original series was covering the construction of a hospital, that's why the channel has the name it does. I called it "The Hospital Construction Channel" because that was originally going to be the only thing on this channel. When the construction of the hospital finished in early 2019, this channel went dormant, and I figured that was going to be it, the channel was done.
However, about a year later a new project started, about a block away from the hospital -- the construction of a 13-story senior living facility. So, not a hospital, a senior living facility. That series went on for just over another 2 years with the same basic format of mostly weekly videos containing a mixture of time-lapses and closeups.
It ended up being 93 videos stretching from February 2020 to April 2022.
To distinguish the second series of videos from the original hospital series, I called the new series covering the senior living facility the "S series" (as in S for senior) and started calling the prior hospital series the "H" series (H for hospital). Pretty clever, eh?
Since the "H Series" already existed before I came up with this naming scheme, you won't see the "H Series" name mentioned anywhere inside those older videos. The "S Series", however, was after I came up with the naming scheme, so you will see the "S Series" name mentioned in the newer videos. The older videos, it's just mentioned in places like the description, where I could change it.
If you go back and watch all the videos of either of the series in chronological order, which I highly recommend by the way, just not all at once -- it is not healthy to sit for that long, so take some breaks -- you can kind of see how they get more and more complex over time. And also my technical capabilities - editing, camera equipment, stuff like that, gradually improved over time as well... at least I hope they did.
Most of the videos have music, rather than narration. A few do have narration or original sound. A lot of the videos in the original "H Series" all use the same music in every episode, at least the weekly episodes, because that's what I could afford at the time in terms of music licensing costs -- that's what was available to me. If you watch the whole "H Series", understandably you may get a little tired of the same music all the time, so please... feel free to turn down the volume and listen to your own playlist while watching.
In the "S Series" I upped my game a little and I started licensing a wider variety of music. There was more music reasonably available to me, and I also spent more time syncing and choosing music that I thought matched. So you may find the music to be better in the "S Series". But as commenters are sure to remind me every now and then, not everyone appreciates my music choices, so please... feel free to turn down the volume and listen to your own playlist. There's a volume control there.
I'm not associated with the buildings or the construction companies in any way. I don't work for them, and they didn't hire me. I did this just as a hobby, just on my own, for entertainment, because it was interesting to watch the buildings going up. I hope the videos are interesting to you, too.
I'm not a construction expert by any means, so please forgive me if I got things wrong every now and then, called something by the wrong name, whatever. Any experts watching out there, feel free to chime in on the comments and educate us, correct me, whatever.
Now that both the H and the S Series have completed, this channel has once again gone dormant, as of the end of 2022. At this time, there are no plans for any new series, no plans for any new videos. But I guess you never know, anything could happen, I was surprised before. But right now, for now, this channel is once again dormant.

I found this channel around March of 2020 and used the time between the weekly S Series updates to catch up and enjoy the entire H Series. Definite improvements not only in your editing skills but also with your choice of music as time went on. (Anytime I see concrete being troweled, Hi Ho Cowboy plays in my mind! ) Here's to hoping the Tesla Dealership building on the opposite corner gets replaced with another high rise multi-year construction project! A hardy Thank You again for all the time you invested in producing content for such a niche group of followers. Well done, sir.
Not the Tesla dealer, but over a year ago I heard the building next to that (Land Rover and British Motors dealers) was going to be replaced. But nothing has happened.

I know the music in the S series was well synced, for example 'the hat'. My favorite part that was synced really well. I also like the syncing of traffic to some music. The reflections especially were fun to watch.

Kind of inspired by you. I found someone willing to let me put a simple time lapse camera on their property to get the construction of some condominiums. Won't be near as long or elaborate as yours. Camera is battery powered so I only runs from 6 am to 7pm mon - Saturday. I download the daily video's once a week, change batteries every 3. Simple music with it.

I found the channel probably in March or April of 2020 and have anticipated each episode until the S Series wrapped up. I enjoy watching construction like this and appreciate your efforts to keep us entertained. I just have one question... What is the space where the camera was setup? Is it your home or rented space? It had been the perfect location for both series.

What Year Was The TV Studio Construction Began And When Was It Completed?
I do not know when construction started, but I do know that construction completed in 1967, which is when they first moved into the building.
I am curious what type of camera were you using?
There were up to 5 different cameras recording simultaneously at any given time.

We’re you the PM for this build? I applied for a mid-level PM, position and it turns out it’s a 4 year huge build. I have no clue where to start but I’m getting this pesky feeling to take the offer. Any guidance would be great, I am also willing to pay for weekly mentoring.
