@stoneyridgefarmer JOSH! DON'T DO IT. dont get the Kubota, GET A YAMAHA. go with the wolverine line
@Game Bred Duramax looked at the Roxor...no bed is the issue...I need a large bed.. seating for 4-5 and strength....kubota makes an RTV1140 that may be the next thing we look at
@Game Bred Duramax young man, they all break.
@@StoneyRidgeFarmer I can't afford Kubota's 😔
Stoney Ridge Farmer I like the RTV1140. I like the option of seating for 4-5 with a short bed or being able to flip the rear seat up and expand the bed and the protection cage slides forward to keep you protected from items in the bed.
@Game Bred Duramax yamaha does have a belt but we have 2 rhinos and 1 grizzly all 700s, NEVER a problem with yamaha's ultramatic, it is leaps and bounds beyond all the other makers.
Hey Josh!....We use mostly Kubota equipment so we're a bit partial to them. We have a Kubota RTV x1100c and we love it. A true work horse on the farm.... I haven't seen these yet but they do look interesting and well-made
Thank you! I've been looking at all side x sides and will take a closer look at this one. So far, i'm leaning toward the BRP Defender. It's seems to have a very solid frame, great engine and tons of options for customization. Honda was my runner up. But again, I'm gonna look closer at this particular Kubota. I already have a Kubota tractor and I love the machine and the dealership. Fortunately, my same dealership also sell the BRP products.
We bought a can am defender about a year ago as a farm and pleasure unit. Absolutely great machine.
My grandparents have the Kubota rtv 1100 diesel with snow plow and cab. That thing is amazing unbelievable what it can haul and tow highly recommend
Great review! Hope you take us along on your other test drives also! Thanks
We bought the RTV900 last year and we love it. It's a beast!!!
An upgrade for you would be the 1140 not the x1140 1140 is the exact same as RTV900 goes the same speed same kinda steps to work start up and stuff
Josh we bought a RTV X900 November 2017 and it is a great machine its a diesel. goes 25MPH and we have over 300 miles on it already!
You Had me at cup holder! Just don't spill the coffee😀
Thanks for review. I’ve been shopping for a utility side by side for my ranch
Awesome video of the Kubota Side Kick. Have a great weekend, tc. HoppyBob
I am getting this, nothing can beat it
You sold me Josh! Picking up mine next week!
Look at the can am defender great quality and a lot of really cool features
Nice review. Happy to see that big guys fit.
That was a really good review. Informative and entertaining. Thank you. I purchased a 2014 RTV Diesel for my dad on his 74th birthday. I deliberately purchased that machine for him for the following reasons: Low center of gravity. (Hard to roll over.) Easy to drive, and not too fast. Excellent power steering. Hydraulic dump bed. Today, I can't get him out of it. He drives it everywhere on our ranch. In fact, he blames weight gain on the fact that he walks a lot less because he drives his "buggy" everywhere. One problem with the hydrostatic drive system: It can be very hard to shift sometimes. The system builds up pressure and can do something similar to a "vapor lock". You can release the pressure by pressing very hard on the brake pedal. For a guy who is gaining on 80 years old, that can be difficult to overcome. Other than that, I have been extremely impressed with that machine. The one showed in this video seems like a more "hot-rod" version, but very, very well put together. Kubota is a tractor company. So even their hot rod versions are still going to be better than your average ATV. I have two Honda side by side machines. They're awesome for my custom farming operations. (They follow mechanical grape harvesters around mostly.) But I would strongly suggest the Kubota line for overall, general ranch duties. Gas or diesel mostly depends on where you live, how cold it is, and how fast you really think you need to go. But there is no way you can go wrong with a Kubota like this. I sold all of my standard ATV's. In 25 years of farming, and a serious focus on safety, I have had one major injury myself, and one life-threatening injury to an employee. Extremely unsafe. Side by sides, with seat belts and proper training, virtually assure a non-injurious and very safe vehicle. Thanks for a great review. I am going to go look at one of these hot rod Kubotas tomorrow.......but dad stays in the slower diesel model.
Matt tell your dad to lightly press the accelerator while lightly placing into gear , bringing the rpms up a little will roll the gears to help engage whatever range he's wanting, hope that's makes sense and helps !!
That is a long story
@@TheRealSkitch11 That's a fair statement. I was just trying to be helpful. Those buggies are expensive. I thought it would be helpful to share what I know about them.
@@mattphillips1910 it’s ok I feel lazy to read long story’s
I have had a Honda Pioneer 700-4 for 4 years without the first problem. Use it almost every day. The few complaints I have were solved with the new Honda Pioneer 1000-5 models. The reason I went with Honda was mainly due to the transmission and the bed that converts easily to seating. I don't like CVT transmissions and the Honda Pioneer 700 has a 3 speed automatic transmission. The bed that converts to seating is by far my favorite feature.
Funny you uploaded this video looked at this one last week
Very good review, I could even watch that a couple of times where most reviews you watch once and your done LOL
I like the orange and the camo looks awesome, enjoy the shopping!
So what I see with most reviews is a dude trying to sell you a machine...I'm basically taking you on your first test drive...first thoughts and a good general walk around....we'll do this with other models for sure!
I know this is an older video but I was just at the Kubota dealer yesterday looking at the 2020, cool machine, but way outta my price range. Maybe in a few years I’ll get a steal on a used one
Not too old lol....the problem with buying a side by side right now is that both tractor sales, atvs and side by sides are wide open! The dealers know it and they aren't moving on the prices. I was looking into purchasing a second ATV last week....MSRP $8199!!! Expensive...I made them an offer at $7500 and they just laughed....they have folks on a waiting list for these machines....they came back at $8995!! WAY OVER MSRP!! Crazy huh
Nice vid Josh. I’m a fan of the Argos myself. More traction and less damage to the ground because of that weight setup with 8 tires. Not as fast but nearly unstoppable in foul conditions and they pull like a tank.
As "tight as a tick", classic! Subbed for that.
Before you buy check out the Polaris side by sides we are very satisfied with the ones we have. Very dependable, smooth riding and power to pull just about anything.
Looks great!!
Nice info Josh, thanks. I tested a couple of deers new utvs at Husker Harvest Days this year. You might really like them. Alittle more $$ but in closed cab with heat/Ac and powered bed. Just a thought. Thanks again!
Josh- your a brave man! I need to him an haw by my lonesome when making an expensive purchase like this......Don't listen to me, do it man!
When I compared, including price, went with the Tracker 800sx made by Textron.
Josh, I am thinking about getting a JD 835E this coming spring, a walk around of one of those would be awesome.
Great video I love the bloopers
Love your vids keep it up!!!!
very very nice.......very very simple....sounds like he is very very well compensated by kubota
Josh let me give you my opinion on it I have one as well and I absolutely love it I've had the Kabota diesel one before and did not really care for it was kind of hard to start an extremely cold weather and pretty gutless for being a diesel utility Farm rig
Good video Josh that's a nice machine
Bring us a video on the Honda pioneer when you get a chance to...
Do it josh
I agree, those hondas are a beast
Love my Honda 1000 I've had 2 kubota diesel 1100 and a Polaris ranger 1000 northstar by far the Honda is my favorite
We've used the heck out of one at work. We take it up trails that are too small to get an off road truck/suv on and it works great.
I'm 6'4'' 265 and one of the other guys is 6'7'' and a bit heavier. It'll go with both of us in there. Haha. pretty good test for it.
Love my Kubota tractors - but Polaris Ranger all the way. Good Luck and thanks, I enjoy the videos.
Hi josh, got must of the features you like on my 8yr old kioti utv, good demo
Can't say I like that twin latches on the dump bed or the two handed tailgate unlocking.
It would be rough on a man with one arm for sure
Love the Seiko Dive Master watch!
Wouldn't mind seeing something about the new Cat UTV. Supposed to be supper user friendly. Haven't seen one in person, but would really like to. Keep up the great work! Love the videos!
Hi...... Thank you 🎥👍👍👍
Check out a can am defender. Had mine almost 2 years use daily and has been great. At the time I bought mine it seemed to have the most room. Might be something to check out.
Nice review Josh! A whole lot more bells and whistles than my old Yamaha Rhino 660.
That cooling system for the power steering looks a lot like a regulator rectifier
It is
We use the intimidator truck series and love that thing
Hey Josh, would love for you to do a review comparing the Kubota to the Yanmar Bull/Yamaha Viking!? Thanks!
That is a nice farm vehicle.
Hollis farms seems to have great luck with Polaris. Jason just bought a brand new Polaris UTV. Honda would probably be what brand utv I would look at just because we have had good luck with that brand four wheeler, motorcycle, three wheelers and our wood splitter has a Honda motor on it.
Great review vid👍very informal I do like Kubota the big question is costing of UTV, servicing and insurance compare to JD?
i got a Polaris ranger 900 and love it.
yea my top thing is the locking glove box.
@stoneyridefarmer you should do a review on the new Arctic Prowler Pro, looks like a good utv
Uncle has a RTV1100 with Cab ac/heat. Great machine and plenty of power. Main dislike is his dealer which is probably different for you, hopefully! Main flaw in his is it doesnt have a bench seat across so two people is really all thats comfortable. It is slow though and low to the ground unlike the new cab gators.
Do not first year of any thing. Takes while to get bugs out
That's what I hear...I'm sure kubota will stand by their product
You should definitely consider the Honda Pioneer, it has an automotive style transmission. No belt to slip or break. They are very nice.
Friend of mine burned up 3 transmissions in his pioneer before finally selling it
Check out the Mahindra Roxor, it’s kinda like a really “farmer/off-road” focused jeep. It comes with a Diesel engine that goes 45mph.
We still love our old Rhino. It is a happy with it and just had the clutch and brakes fixed and new tires. It is a 2008 with a jeep like soft top on it. Sweet.
I havnt been around this model but the old model rtvs I was around and hated em. The issue with this one I see right off is the bed making it difficult to get to alot of the engine components. Our old models it was difficult to pour oil in for that reason. We had the hydraulic open bed so the cylinder was always in the way too. Hated em had tons and tons of issues all the time needed constant repair and then they rusted out quickly.
Hey Josh I was shopping around for an side by side for around my dairy farm and I found one that I like it was an cub cadet 750. But the only thing I hate about it is all the hard to reach geese nipples
It amazes me how ver similar it is to my old 1999 Mule. Which was bulletproof.
Does this come in a diesel? Not crazy about belt driven anything!
If you have other equipment that runs on diesel then get the diesel Kubota so you don’t have the hassle of two different fuels. A diesel always out works, out lasts a gas engine if took care of, naturally. If you want speed fun get a gasser and build some jumps. Air it out!
We ended up buying a diesel model X1140
great toy!!!!!!!!!
What year is your gator and can your gator and the kubota have a closed in cab with heat and a wiper blade
Owner for 2 years now. Took the doors off first. I’m very happy with it no problems, use it in the country almost everyday.
Love the video
Nice! didn't see a 4 seater, I know you were also looking for more room than the 2 seater.
yep...need a 4 seater for sure
@@StoneyRidgeFarmer and diesel also you said before
It's sill a belt
(Honda)
are you gonna look at other side by sides like the polaris and stuff?
Have you considered the cat utv?
Out of all the people I've talked too... farmers, family, recreational guys, and friends honda is the best go to brand for cheap, high quality, tough machines. Just don't buy a Polaris unless it's a sled
We had 3 Kubota UTV's with the EBS, that we used at our plant... Everytime You took Your foot off the gas, the brake would apply itself and just about throw the operator through the windshield... Hope they got rid of that feature... We had ours for a month and got rid of them
I bought a Kubota UTV in the spring of 2021. It was a diesel, it ran fine down here in Texas, but, would not run at about 8000 ft in southern Colorado. I added a turbo charger to it, still would not run. So, thats something to think about.
sounds like you have a tuning issue for sure
You might also consider a Mihindra Roxor diesel engine 4x4 check them out.
We're gonna look at them ..but I have a willys in my shop right now ....need to get that up and going!
What are thoughts on the Roxor?
Please do a review like this with a Polaris ranger, we have a ranger and we think you would love it
Nice toy but do not fogget about the jeep . Will be nice running around the farm .old school 👍puerto rican hillbilly 🙏
We recently bought a kubota sidekick 850 back in June 2022..to learn there is a massive recall on them because of a massive recall on them something about the steering can go out, & you could be killed or seriously injured, I'm so upset with Kubota because I bought this for my hubby who had a Stroke...Kubota has not reached out to me...
get it back to the dealer asap my friend....they'll take care of you. It's admirable that kubota is fixing all of these units for folks...recalls could be caused by just one failure in order to preserve your safety. Take it in my friend
Have you checked out the all New textron prowler pro
I hope yours is better than my rtv500! Transmission/hydrostat has been terrible!
You might want to also consider the price of kubota replacement parts. Take for example that power steering cooler (voltage regulator} we were discussing. That replacement Kubota voltage regulator part # k7811-62050 would cost you $295. A replacement voltage regulator for a Honda pioneer 1000 part #31600-hl4-a01 will cost you $62.
10:55 You have a Tornado Wire cap on - where did you get it ? It's stopped me in my tracks !
Sounds quiet. My Dad's tractor supply Massimo is really loud and has a 10 mile turning radius.
You need to look at the new Polaris ranger 1000 I had a lot of Weigh in it and had little to no squat
I hear they are nice in 2019...I'll take a look for sure
I'll take any one. I do like the one that you drove in black, and the green one I like, but any one would be great.
Where is the battery located. How big is it.?
Do they have a Four Seater so you can be able to haul visitors around???
you did not talk about bed pay load or tow capacity ?
I want some farm equipment and I don't even live on one. This Kubota looks great, Japanese to boot, give me one of these and a Honda generator and I am set.
LOL....good stuff
Funny bloopers
Glad ya enjoyed them...sometimes I stumble through things hahhaha
austin kilchriss 9
Two words Honda pioneer my parents have one it’s the deluxe edition Honda is the best with durability and it’ll get you anywhere you want to go they got theirs for 12k for a 700 came with a roof and a winch which are usually sold separately but it was already put together that way their model has manual shift paddles or automatic mode
what about the oil filter and easy maintenance ? where is the battery ?
Wolverine Best Buy for the buck I’ve had a kabota and sold it.
Anyone have a problem with the belt drive? I've only had mine 2 months and Kubota is replacing it today, just wondering if this is a problem with the sidekick
14 shoe! Where do you find shoes. My Uncle had size 20 he had to have them made for him.
Did you go try the new Deere XUV825? Deere has come a long way in the last few years in terms of performance and overall fit & finish. We opted for the smaller yet sportier XUV590M with the protection package. The one major downside is the bed design. If you need 4 doors check out the Ranger Crew. What’s nice about Deere and Kubota is the free money aka 0% financing.
Just bought a Polaris ranger Xp 900. Have been pretty impressed with it. It doesn’t have power steering, but it is still easy to steer. That kuboda looks nice though
Speaking from experience be careful with your thumbs inside the steering wheel on rough terrain...the wheel can really hurt or break your thumbs...
@@StoneyRidgeFarmer thanks for the advise
Have you considered the Mahindra ROXOR? I'm not recommending it as I've never seen one in person, but the ROXOR sure looks nice and heavy duty!
I bought a 79 Ford 1/2 ton 4x4 with a flatbed for $1000. 300 inline 6 and a 4 spd will probably outlast 3 of those things
yeah that's what I'm talking about that ill haul a few bails across a pasture or some seed or what ever
Absolutely. Any old ford or old chevy will do
Joe Melvin , those 300's are bullet proof . I rebuilt my carb one time. I was short one gasket in the kit, I resorted to using a Beer coaster, It worked perfect. !
Right, if you need something with all these options you may as well but a truck.
Cf Moto is a good brand. Mine is 800cc and it goes 70+, and it is stock
