Another lovely fish for local angler, James.
Early September and you can see that the river was high, it was standing at 13" on our gauge, which equates to 1’9" on the SEPA gauge at Ness Side.
Water temperature was 15 degrees and the air temperature was 15 degrees.
James' steelhead fly was fished off a floating head and a 15' fast tip.
Once again, covering the pool was key to success and as you can see in the video, as per usual, James was covering the pool with ease.
Happy days 😊

Fantastic fish. Is the fly an intruder pattern?
I couldn’t agree more Bruino, it was a stonker!
According to James (the angler) the fly was intended for steelhead fishing in Canada, you can clearly see the single ‘stinger’ hook, trailing behind the main body of the fly, attached by a loop of braid.
To my limited knowledge, ‘intruder’ patterns tend to have front and rear hackles that this pattern does not have.
I hope that helps.
