    Hi all! Today we have a slightly different video. I was asked to make a build that took advantage of the War Magic feature that Eldritch Knight gets, so I decided to do something completely different that achieves a similar goal. I'm really happy with how this turned out, and I think it's one of my favourite builds to date!
    Also, I forgot to make it clear in the video. The hair, face, and clothes of Tav are modded. Check the description for the links.
    Left Handed Spellsword:
    Be sure to always start with Fighter (Two-Weapon Fighting), then go with a 1 level dip in your spellcaster of choice for the cantrips, then go to Thief Rogue 4 to get your extra attacks and first feat.
    Each build uses Ethel's Boon and the Potion of Everlasting Vigour to get +3 STR. This will give you the highest possible damage on your weapon attacks in the offhand.
    Main Build:
    Fighter 2/Thief Rogue 4/Wizard 6 or Light Cleric
    Any subclass will work for Wizard, but Evocation is recommended.
    Weapons:
    Any light weapon in the main hand

    bg3.wiki/wiki/Ring_of_Arcane_...
    bg3.wiki/wiki/Ring_of_Element...
    Eldritch Blast Variant:
    Champion Fighter 6/Warlock 2/Thief Rogue 4
    Grab the Dual Wielder feat since you get an extra feat from Fighter.
    Equipment Changes:
    bg3.wiki/wiki/Duke_Ravengard%...
    Any crit threshold reduction headpieces bg3.wiki/wiki/List_of_sources...
    bg3.wiki/wiki/Risky_Ring which gives advantage so more chances to crit
    bg3.wiki/wiki/Surgeon%27s_Sub... to allow you to paralyze an enemy for a big round of damage. This is totally optional.

    Fun facts for the Druid version of this build: if you equip a shield and then cast Flame Blade, it replaces the shield and goes in your off-hand. It uses your casting stat to hit, so feel free to max that Wisdom. It doesn't get ability mod to damage, but any gear that adds to weapon damage will also add to the Flame Blade. Most hilariously, hitting with Flame Blade triggers the Pyroquickness Hat, so you get 3 swings with it. Be a spores druid with caustic band, strange conduit, and helldusk and that's 4d6+2d4+2 damage (+1d6 if you can upcast it at spell level 4) potentially three times, plus whatever regular actions you get! Hit 'em with a cantrip first for that sweet Arcane Synergy, if you replace one of those rings. Hell, find a way to cast Telekinesis to trigger Strange Conduit and do your best Jedi impression.

    Yo man, fun builds! I love spellblade characters, and this is a great way to turn some classes who typically can't get there into it! As for EK with no int - you don't need int. Just pick Shield (op), Magic Missile, and other utility stuff like Longstrider & Feather Fall. The crit might still be better, but having Shield on top of the rest is so legit.

      Why not just use the band of the mystic scoundrel then? When ever you land an attack you can use an illussion or enchantment spell as a bonus action. So you can hit cast hold person then critt hit because they are held.
      If you pair it with the helm of arcane acuity you can stack up to +7 spell att/dc meaning your hold person will have 100% chance to hit. Seriously busted when you drop it on 4 people at once!

    If you wanted to dump the 2 levels of fighter, you could use Belm. It's a Scimitar that has a bonus action attack that uses your main hand modifier (So pact weapon or infernal rapier will make it CHA, Sylvian Scimitar will make it use your primary spellcasting modifier, and even Shillelagh makes it use Wisdom). What's great about this is that is bypasses needing Two-Weapon Fighting. This makes Nature Cleric really strong for Shillelagh while getting Divine Strike: Elemental Fury to deal extra Fire, Ice, or Lightning damage on a hit (it's usually once per turn, but if you manually cast it with your action, then use bonus action with the auto reaction to proc it, it can make Divine Strike able to be triggered twice per turn)
    Other easy combo is Club of Hill Giant's Strength + Belm. The Belm special bonus action attack will use your STR mod to hit from club, allowing you to totally dumb STR and Two Weapon fighting (Useful on characters who didn't get Ethel's boon, STR potion, or mirror for STR increase)

  • @AmorphisBob
    @AmorphisBob 4 місяці тому +2

    I had the same idea but built it completely differently. I started off with Half-orc Warlock (great old one), 8/14/16/8/10/17, got 4 levels to pact of the blade and the dual wielder feat, 1 lvl in fighter for 2 weapon fighting, then 3 levels in rogue (theif) for the 2nd bonus action, and 2nd level in fighter for action surge. Everything past this is gravy but I went with a 4th level in rogue for the 2nd feat (spell sniper), then 3rd level in fighter (champ), and 5th level in rogue for 50% damage reduction. I use Duke Ravenguard's longsword in the mainhand and charge-bound hammer in the offhand (I do not attack with the mainhand sword, it is simply a stat stick). I also use the Birthright hat so with Ethel's boon and zero feat investment I can have 22 charisma. I start combat with Darkness then action surge, eltritch blast and 2 offhand attacks. This build is niche but it isn't just viable it's overpowered especially in honour mode where normal hexblade builds take a severe nerf.
    *I just realized that after level 5 it makes more sense to start with fighter then get to lvl 4 warlock for the con save proficiency. Also an argument could be made for mainhanding the blade of the undermountain king for the crits on 17 but I prefer having 22 charisma and 50% damage reduction.

  • @Herbagamers
    @Herbagamers 6 місяців тому +2

    Second comment on this.
    Going dex and having hand crossbows is a good backup to when you can't make it in melee. Downside is you have only a few good melee off hands as a tradeoff. A lot of evocation spells don't really put something on the enemies so sometimes getting the stacks to add your int to the dmg can be tricky at the beginning until you get the item from sorcerous sundries if you don't use a cantrip. Eldritch knight 4 and wizard 4 works very good as well and gets you full feat progression.
    Did 17 dex 16 int and 15 con. ASI to do 18,16,16. Second one to get int up. And tbh I don't think you need to use the 3rd one to bring something to 20. You can go with something more on the utility side and get away with it, I'm thinking dual wielder could be a strong contender. I'm curious to see how this works with duelist prerogative when time comes in this run but if that doesn't work I will most likely do dual wielder and re evaluate on the best off hand finesse. This build got me super excited to finish the few achieves I'm missing

  • @Unknowngnostic

    I was literally trying to build something like this last night. I'm only level 8. But I've got those rings and some other things that work well as a spell sword type. But I was having a problem trying to capitalize on it.
    What I did was made astarian a level 3 thief and level 5 Eldridge knight. I have a helm of arcane acuity, and one of arcane synergy. And a ring of synergy. The synergy ones you have to use a spell then get your spell bonus on your melee. The acuity gives you melee bonus to spells.
    I am using the 1d4 fire gloves and the thorn blade that gives 1d4 poison when concentrating. I ended up swapping the synergy ring for the ring that gives 1d4 psychic when concentrating.
    I cast protection from good and evil on myself (astarian) which is a concentration spell that lasts till long rest.
    The problem I have is only 2 spell slots left. So I can only use cantrips.
    I was thinking about using a warlock instead, using hex to concentrate on. But the problem is always like you said in the beginning, I'm losing the extra attack by not attacking first.
    Thanks for the build, funny I was literally trying to figure this out a few hours before you posted it lol

    These builds are so close to my first character it’s scary. It was a 6/3/3 Eldritch Knight GOOlock thief rouge. I took pact of the blade so I could focus on dex over str and not sacrifice on my to hit on eldritch blast. This allowed me to deal good damage either range or melee. I’d go over the specifics but I’m sure you could figure them out. If you care to, feel free to make a video on it. Who knows, you might find a melee or ranged combination stronger than I did.

    With both weapons light and finesse, there's no reason to go Str over Dex except the vigour potion. If you go the Str route, it's better to go dual wielder along with an asi for your casting stay, so that you can use one of the act 3 staves alongside your left hand weapon of choice.

    • @HoboZone
      @HoboZone  6 місяців тому +2

      Yeah, that's a good point. My goal was to get both the spellcasting stat and the weapon stat at 20. Also, not all light weapons are finesse, so I wanted to give people more weapon options.

    • @user-wv8yk3xu4h
      @user-wv8yk3xu4h 6 місяців тому +2

      The only non finesse light weapon I have found worth using is the Shining staver of skulls, and that's only in radiant based builds. YMMV. Also consider the 1/3/8 spread for more spellcasting prowess, including access to the GrInvis/Stealth Expertise/PWTrace combo, access to summoning spells especially for druids etc.
      In my math estimations, the best DPS version of the build has always been the Rogue 3/DB Dorcerer fire 9 with pyroquickness hat, gloves of the balanced hands and the helffire hand crossbow with sharpshooter.

    idea.
    Put one of the 8s into strenght, put the 10 into your mental stat of choice,, and put the 15+2 into dex. As a main hand weapon, equip club of hillgiant strenght (also an act 1 item). This would give you better initiative, and would open up other armor, be it exotic medium like the yuanti scale, or just go for max and get the armor of agility. However, it would also open up robes, like the potent robe, without a significant dip in AC, using mage armor or draconic scales. Doing so would limit the item selection a bit, locking you out of elemental momemtum boots, the grit helmet and the arcane acuity helmet.
    But I think it should work.

    You can do this build with a druid as well but much more melee focused with spore druid. You use your exact setup but instead to proc the pyro hat, you use flame blade. So you can go and abuse level 5 of any martial class and get 3 offhand attack on top. The best part? You are single attribute dependant as wisdom is used to hit and a sword like the sylvan blade and bhelm can be used for offhand. The beauty is the extra damage you get from spore druid temp HP feature. On top of that you get to have the OPiest armor in the game that can give you aoe haste, concentration free 1 time per day! You get also plenty of summon and other nice things from druid!
    For the gear you can go all in into the light orb set since your flame blade is a light source. You can go any set really. You even can go savage attacker and reroll the damage dice to get better damage for the flame blade! The possibilities are infinite!

I haven’t tested it with Shocking Grasp yet. My idea is to dual elemental cantrip for 2 attacks, plus the element necklace which adds your mod, plus the ring of arcane synergy and the ring of elemental infusion or whatever it’s called. Using the bonus action to swing with the infusion and synergy active after casting two cantrips. Full wizard spell list from scrolls for the correct spell levels you have to cast. Thinking of endgame selfish items for this build I'd run with
    All the jewelry and cloak you already have, Markoheshkir/Crimson Mischief, Gibus of the Worshipful Servant, Robe of the Weave/Supreme Defenses/Potent, Gauntlets of Hill Giant Strength/Gloves of Dexterity, Boots of Elemental Momentum. This would work best as any form of sorcerer or warlock.
    These choices allow you to hit 24 charisma. 16 base, 2 skill improvements, +1 from hair, +3 from mirror. You'll also have either 23 strength or 18 Dex as your attacking stat, Mischief is versatile so it works either way. Dex lets you be way more aggressive in dumping, since you won't need to stat any physical stat other than Con, Strength has more raw damage output but you still need to skill Dex. The main point behind Markoheshkir is that we can add our proficiency when we deal elemental damage, which we can spam. Mischief also adds our proficiency as physical damage, which is why we'd want the 23 strength from Hill Giant.

      @HoboZone  6 місяців тому +1

      It would be a bit similar to my Feywild Channeler that I posted a few days ago, subbing out Nature Cleric for Druid (and Wild Magic for Draconic obviously). The equipment would mostly be the same just to make the stats work.
      With Draconic, you want to hit the level 6 feature at least to get the damage buff. I think a 6/6 split makes sense. Circle of the Land seem like the obvious choice as it would be easier to focus on a single damage type by choosing the right circle spells. Lightning as your chosen damage type would make sense to me as you get mostly lightning spells from Druid and would be the easiest to work with, but any should work if you know what you're doing.
      You might find success with Moon Druid for Wildshape mixed with Haste and such, but at that point, I'd just use the Darkfire Shortbow. Especially since Wildshape loses power the less levels you put into druid.
      That's my initial thoughts anyway.

    • @KatoGod
      @KatoGod 6 місяців тому

      @@HoboZone yeah, the 6/6 split could work. Iwas thinking of either 2/10 split going either way working as well. 2 in druid would give u ur level 1 utility spells and then the rest of draconic sorc levels would boost your damage with whichever elemental type u decide to go with, and also able to get higher level spells too. Then the other way of 2 draconic for metamagic (or 3 if you want the 3rd metamagic) and the rest in druid. You could look at a more earthen dragon type that way for roleplay purposes!

    • @Lankpants

      Yeah, it's 100% worth doing that to hold Markoheshkir in your main hand, since you can add your proficiency bonus to whatever damage type you're applying to your weapon for some big damage increases.
      As a very early game alternative the Mourning Frost lets you buff up specifically the cryo damage of your infusion just a touch too, it also gives you some crazy CC by creating an ice surface under everything you attack.
      You also shouldn't need duel wielder because staffs are versatile. As long as the weapon you're trying to offhand is one-handed like a dagger or a shortsword and not versatile like a staff or longsword you should be able to offhand it with the staff no trait needed.

      Because with the way the stat spread works, you would lose out on your spellcasting ability score in the long run. And you'd lose put on weapon damage as well.
