BUILD UPDATE(?): It has recently been brought to my attention that as of Patch 5 there is a way of casting spells while raging. If you play a Wild Magic Barbarian, certain surge effects will allow to continue to cast spells. Here is a link to a short video by @johnranbandeira1948 giving an example of this working. I appreciate that you don’t title everything like “MOST OP ONE SHOT 20 ATTACKS PER TURN BUILD THAT NEEDS TO BE NERFED” like so many others. I appreciate that the builds are just fun, and aren’t always trying to break the game.
My brother & I are doing a Wild Magic play through (I'm a Sorcerer & He's a Barbarian) we're also using the Illithid powers, and man, it's so much fun. He seems to only get helpful magical effects & I only seem to get negative ones, it's become a meme that my Sorcerer is on death's door after combat encounter, I took the magic initiate bard feat just to I could heal myself 😂
I will note that I havent seen any builds on YT that actually do the multiclass yet, (unless algorithm is pushing it to the bottom) so props to you for hoping on it.
I’m not sure if you have any advice for a build like this but I’m trying a trickery domain cleric with way of the shadow monk to do a sneaky support Shadowheart build. I feel like the gameplay loop I’m going for is having her weave through the shadows, casting debuffs / CC and having some martial prowess to defend herself or finish low HP targets.
I feel like if you're investing in charisma, id say forget the birthright hat and go with the pyroquickness hat. This would enable a round of quickened fire spell, rage, attack or a round of buff spell, quickened fire spell, quickened buff spell. Would burn through sorcery points, but with the barbarian ability to regain spell slots, you can change that to an additional 3 sorcery points.
Wish more builds would focus on exploring fun interactions and stuff that make things interesting like this rather than just optimized for damage. I keep seeing recycled tempest/smite builds or bard/gloomstalker variants, which are definitely fun to try on first playthrough but combat in this game is so finite that if you don’t impose your own limitations it gets too easy and feels like you’re cheating yourself by using things like deva mace or whatever. Even honor mode doesn’t match the power scaling and I think that’s intentional so you can really feel powerful with any build you Imagine so it’s nice to see something new even if it’s not going to 1 shot everything on first turn. Most fun ive had was a meme wizard duel wielding staves tbh. Excited to try this for next playthrough

Do try 5 Blade Warlock / 4 Wild Barb / 1 Wild Sorc / 2 Divination Wiz. Focus on ritual spells, drop str, put extra points in Int, wield Giant Axe with the strength of your personality alone. I turned Gale into an animal while casting longstrider on him once.
I think you could also skip a ability improvement on strength and use it in con instead if you use the strength potion from the blood merchant in act 2. Not everyone will do that but it is an option. Looking forward to trying this build in a future run!
So, I actually have had a few times in my current Resist Durge Wild Magic Barbarian playthrough where Magic Awareness has been situationally handy. It came up as a way to give myself Advantage on a few Saving Throws, particularly when I was doing the Zaith’isk in the Githyanki crèche in order to not suffer the debilitating effects
I used to play a sorcerer barb that pretended to be a wizard…sorc cantrips to go “look look i have magic.” Then when he couldnt cast more advanced spells like wizards or someone triedvto point it out he barely new magic he would use “cast fist…chair..random by stander, ect” thank you tavern brawler.

Here is a build / video idea. A holy warrior whose most levels go into way of the open hand monk, ( like the holy fist of lathander or something) also utilizing the ability’s of one of the most underused cleric subclasses Light Domain. And if someone would want extra character add a level into Barbarian for the idea of being unable to control their emotions which leads them to be uncontrollable ( also unarmored defense is extremely good in my opinion). ( also it would be cool if this character wasn’t your typical holy warrior but hides in the light. Not game mechanics wise , but in a story telling way. This characters primary color would probably be white)
Ok, so what I was lacking in my idea of this build is just using buffs instead of bothering with damaging spells and not knowing when to rage. Thanks a lot for that then. Hope that despite being busy this weekend, you'll still have fun without your audience 🙂
i was gonna say level 7 in sorcerer gets you the amazing non-concentration spell fire shield but then i looked it up and it's not on the sorcerer spell list??? which is a bit weird tbh. and there's actually so many amazing 4th level non-concentration spells but sorcerer gets literally none of them. so yeah, uncharacteristically, the 6/6 split is wayyyy better than the 5/7 split
One build i've really been trying to figure out how to make is a martial summoner that also supports their summons. When I say summoner I don't mean hordes or anything, like 2-3 good summons that you fight alongside with. I was trying to make a monk/lore bard since both are fun classes and i would get my support abilities and martial abilities, but after looking into it, lore bards get 0 summoning spells, other than animate dead through their lvl 6 feature. While i'd prefer an unarmed fighting style, battle master + Gear that helps summons could fill the martial & support parts, then some summoner class would also work, keep in mind im just trying to get just a handful of strong summons and not a horde. Some tips on what good summons you can get naturally through the game, like Shovel (although i couldn't scribe him, you get the idea.) would also be helpful. One last thing if you do try making this, it doesn't need to lean heavily into martial abilities, just enough to support and keep up with their summons as the game progresses. Sorry for the long comment lol.
I usually don't comment to often on yt vids, but there are a couple videos on yt about this. When I did it I went 5 monk 7 spore druid. If I remember correctly you can get 4 fungal zombies, create undead, minor elemental summons, a dryad that offers a wood woad. Wearing the helm off Balthazar would make your undead resistant to most damage or gloves from zhentarium as well. With that build you go either dex or strength based. Str use tav brawler. You could also probably do a 6/6 split with beastmaster ranger druid focused around melee. Grab sentinel and polerarm master as feats, use bear companion for goading roar which would make enemies attack your bear and you'd be able to do attack off opportunities on enemies that approached your bear on top of your normal attacks along with all of druid abilities as well, and i also forgot you can use shillelagh to buff cacophony for either build using quaterstaffs should still work with those feats. Hopefully that gave you some ideas for a play through.
@@LukeGreen-k8m thanks! I have seen the druid videos as well, the only issue I have with them is that they summon an entire horde, which slows down the combat and doesn't fit the 2-3 good summons. Druids do however get good summons-so while I could just grab a few of them, a lot of the early level summons do not fit the vibe I want of both me and my couple companions having semi equal strength. And I'll have to wait till way later, near endgameish for that feel. The rangers animal companions always lack in health and DMG output-even if you went entirely into the ranger. (At least the last time I played they always had that issue) So I don't really think it's possible to have a trusty companion that's as buff as a normal player, that you can fight alongside with in bg3. Not without mods anyway. Which is exactly what I did >:)
Fun build that I might do with my friends' first playthrough, since he likes chaos. Just curious, does the metamagic that lets you cast while silenced, or ice knife (works while silenced) work during rage? Or is rage not technically a silence?
I don't know when this was changed but I did a bunch of testing recently and it seems the "shield" reaction spell doesn't trigger wild magic surge (or I was extremely unlucky). I'm about to start testing Counterspell and Hellish Rebuke to see if it's the same with all reactions or just shield.
I have an idea. Recently i learned more of the zhents how they are selling slaves. So i picture a person got captured by then sold off as a gladitaor and learned to fist fight that way a barbaian monk combo that there rage fuels their fists.
I have a question about the livestream choice when you say companion builds do you mean the origin companions like you did at Xmas or do you mean the 4 non-origin companions or will it be both a bit of clarification would be appreciated thank you

@@HoboZone So the build is the an Eagle Heart Barb that uses Hammarhraft and Reverb Gear. My original plan was to multi class into Thief rogue for another bonus action. But i figured i was probably missing some cool class or gear combo with my limited knowledge. It's really dumb, but surprisingly I've enjoyed it up to level 7 thus far. Hammarhraft activates on the Eagle jump attack. It's been easier since my wizard is able to cast fly.
No Mage Armor? Idk if it stays up after you start raging, but I would think so. Seems like it would be strong af. Also, I’m curious if you can cast Ice Knife while raging. I gotta try it. Edit: saw comment about silence. No Ice Knife. A pity.
i also find magical awareness to suck, it gives me the option to use it in ability checks and saving throws in dialog: but it dissapears as soon as dice are rolled. The magic boon the wild magic barbarian gets at level 6 is good, its effectively a free bless.
I'd recommend the amulet of vitality or whatever it is called which sets Ur constitution to 23. Amulets that restore spell slots should never be worn actively and only be worn to restore the spell slot and then removed tbh. The vitality one will give you a lot more hp and probably ac cause if I'm not mistaken, constitution converts to ac for barbarians, right?
I don't tend to recommend that one if I can help it, considering where you get it from. I know you can technically get it without any issue as soon as you start act 3, but I let people figure that out on their own.
Can I have your thoughts on an interesting build request that you could use as a livestream in the game is a achievement for getting 1 level in every class it might be fun to find out what everyone thinks is the best build progression seeing as there are 784 possible combinations not including oathbreaker

I could see it for giving the Barbarian some boosts on themselves that last the whole time between rests or at least multiple turns without concentration like Jump, Longstrider, or Fire Shield just to buff your melee ability
IMO you're way better off making this a duo build. Wild magic sorcs and barbarians work so well together as separate characters that congealing them into one makes it shit by comparison.
God, i tried a magic only pure barbarian (no melee or ranged attacks). According to the wiki, barbarians use charisma for item spells, scrolls and cantrips learned through spell sniper. If a barbarian learns the shalleighlag, they use charisma for melee attack rolls as its the classes spell ability. Swapping out items for their spell mid combat while hasted is "fun". I had to exterminate the hollow for the first time in a solo playthrough.

With the sorcerer metamagic to quicken or extend spells there's more synergy here than I expected.

Rage and silence are not the same unfortunately.

Evocation Wizard. You get the ability to not have your spells affect your allies. This includes non-hostile neutral parties.

If I'm being honest, I'm sure a lot of people have created guides for that achievement. I don't think I'll have anything unique or interesting to add.

No. Rage prevents the casting of spells, it doesn't silence you.
