Explanation of a way to draw a simple floor plan (to be effective and save time).
Contents:
Intro (0:00)
I. Preparing my workspace before drawing.
Set up Units (0:45),
Add Layers (1:15),
Snap mode (2:45),
Grid (3:30),
Object Snap (4:00)
II. Draw the exterior wall (5:18)
use of commands: Polyline, line, offset
III. Draw the interior walls (6:30)

When I type 8000mm for that top wall on the plan, the line goes well off the page. Is there any way to scale the whole page so that when I move the cursor the measurement increases in greater amounts.
Hi +Jeff Smith ! I am not sure if I understood your question but when you draw a line that goes off the page, you can type: "Z" (zoom) and then "A" (all). By doing this you will see all your drawings. Try that
I faced the same problem too. It happens because you have used the
command "line" instead of "Poly Line". Try typing PL and then add the
value, i hope it solves the problem. :)

Jeff Smith, it may be due to the grid spacing. By default, we have grid spacing 0.50 but we can change it to 10 as lie in the video 3:33 min.

When I draw my exterior wall line I go to type the length I want it in millimetres however it doesn't appear?

Will the floor plan fit on a printed paper, 8.5x11?
When I type in the measurements for the floorplan @50'31 etc it becomes huge even when I zoom out it's not the same shape as yours - do you know what i am doing wrong?

first click some place then type @20',20' and enter then you get proper output
Click mouse middle button twice
if your doing plans do you have to measure the rooms of the house?

How did you draw the rest of the walls inside. My line tool does not allow me to start drawing from where ever I want, it only shows those midpoints and endpoints as start points and does not show straight lines up or down, only to those midpoints etc. I don't get it.

my grid would come up as large boxes, i only was able to make it match yours by making the grid spacing (.10) instead of (10)

I did everything what you did but when I Commanded PL > draw a line > set length to 8000, the length of the line was out of the display. And then I zoom in and out by scrolling the mouse wheel but still could not find the line's endpoint.

Hi +Rafa Syed. Try typing "Z", press enter and then type "A". You should see everything you draw in that file. That is a very common issue for Autocad users. Does it work?
