    Perfect. Tutorial outlines what to do to get started using a simple, useful example. Narrator speaks slowly and deliberately. I had no problems understanding. Well done.

    When I type 8000mm for that top wall on the plan, the line goes well off the page. Is there any way to scale the whole page so that when I move the cursor the measurement increases in greater amounts.

    • @CADinblack
      @CADinblack  8 років тому +6

      Hi +Jeff Smith ! I am not sure if I understood your question but when you draw a line that goes off the page, you can type: "Z" (zoom) and then "A" (all). By doing this you will see all your drawings. Try that

    • @aienhance
      @aienhance 8 років тому +7

      I faced the same problem too. It happens because you have used the
      command "line" instead of "Poly Line". Try typing PL and then add the
      value, i hope it solves the problem. :)

      Jeff Smith, it may be due to the grid spacing. By default, we have grid spacing 0.50 but we can change it to 10 as lie in the video 3:33 min.

    I haven't used AutoCAD in over 20 years, so I appreciate your tutorial. I'm trying to draw a detailed floor plan with MS Paint, but it's very difficult. I'm looking for a free, simple 2D CAD program that can create groups and has osnap commands like you demonstrated. Can anyone recommend one?

      Just do the math. The last room is 1000mm x 1700mm. The wall's thickness is 150mm, then, the bottom right room is 2550mm x 3250mm; the one on the top is 2650mm x 1400mm; and the one on the middle right is 2400mm x 1400mm.

    At 6:20, I tried to use offset command like you, but somehow it offsets only one edge instead of whole object.
    What was your setting? and how to to offset for whole object?
    Thanks.

    • @mario63ist
      @mario63ist 8 років тому +1

      hey Xuan, after using the polyline tool to draw your object, type OFFSET=> press enter => type the offset distance that you want => press enter again => finally select the object. I hope it works for you :)

    • @xjetech5558
      @xjetech5558 8 років тому

      That works for me now.
      I had used Line command instead of Polyline, so that was the difference

    • @mario63ist
      @mario63ist 8 років тому

      Xuan Nguyen van
      nice :), that will also work with the line command, but instead it will select a single line not the whole set of lines

    • @CADinblack
      @CADinblack  8 років тому +1

      Thanks for answering the question +mario63ist (Abu)
      In this case you should convert to a polyline first. Because if you offset, line by line, them you will miss the corners. You can try to check out the difference

    • @thouseefusman999

      if u r drawn using lines...then select whole lines...type block..give a name..ok..then that lines become one object

    I did everything what you did but when I Commanded PL > draw a line > set length to 8000, the length of the line was out of the display. And then I zoom in and out by scrolling the mouse wheel but still could not find the line's endpoint.
    Please Help!

      Hi +Rafa Syed. Try typing "Z", press enter and then type "A". You should see everything you draw in that file. That is a very common issue for Autocad users. Does it work?

    Hello CAD in black...thanks for sharing your video, I have question Look on the Tutorial to draw a simple floor plan (Fast and effective!) PART 1 what template name are you using on this video ?

      Hi, I hope I could answer your question properly. I also wondered about the templates since there's acad and acadiso templates.
      I found out that acad.dwt is a template setup for imperial (units=inches), whereas acadiso.dwt is setup for metric (units=mm)

    Can you set up the drawing so you can type 5, meaning 5 meters), instead of 5000 mm? It would be much easier because we are thinking in meters....Must the commands always be given in mm?

      Hello +ruffomaldito. Autocad is adimentional. You can type 5 and it can mean what you want. It can be meters, milimeters, kilometers, etc.. Depends what kind of drawing you are working on.
      Only when you print, you have to set up the scale of the paper to fit there

      Do you really intend to build anything where the smallest, or even most common dimension is in meters? Seems pretty unlikely unless you are building a megolith of some kind.
