Why is it that when I input my values the rectangle is too big even when I zoom out ... I also noticed I'm missing something its next to 'isolate objects ' on your laptop is that why my stuff isn't coming out right???
Thank you! I just got my first job as an assistant architect after a year of not doing anything related to architecture, so this was very useful and it helped me remember how to use autocad again!

Thank you so much for the effort you've taken. I can appreciate your effort to make sure we can follow your lesson. Learnt so much from just part one. Thank you very much.
But I'll be honest with you it will be so hard. So hard that dropping will cross your mind countless of times but as long as you want to finish the course study hard learn everything and even if you cheat or copy answers try learning the answers you copied that way you still learned something
@@loch6570 I never considered dropping when it got hard. But I did get very frustrated and stressed out. You just have to approach it with the attitude that failure is not an option, if you can do that you will survive.

Auto CAD is indeed a useful too, but is too expensive for the casual user. I used both the full version and Lite and found lite worked well for simple drawings. For the blocks, a made blocks for those things I used most often and saved them and pulled them into the drawing being worked on making it easy to insert without have to create the blocks on each drawing. Worked well for electrical distribution drawings. Being able to insert topo maps really makes it easy for site layouts on property.
I am a 1st-year college taking up Civil Engineering this year, today I started making my day more productive by watching some of the essential things for my course. And I honestly love this video for it is well explained, I hope I could retain the knowledge up until I finally am at school. I hope I could finish this course I have taken....😇😇 Ps. Disclaimer: I haven't touched Autocad before... I am learning with this video as my FIRST tutorial.. I had noticed two things which may help others. #1 the cursor "box" and "target" are two different things... most of the commands when entered.. you should look at your cursor if it is a "target". #2 I was stuck with the window (9:48) as it always made a smaller box with the offset tool... but notice the command "x" to explode. follow that before going to the offset tool. as if not it will make a smaller rectangle offsetting the whole box by 1". all in all. there are just some few command omissions which were frustrating for me. tutorial is an 7.5/10 for part 1 of 3 P.S. If you're well versed with windows... and have made some "drag drop" habits.... I think you will find that you have to recondition your shortcut commands as AutoCad follows its own
Thank you! I've been having so much trouble with his videos as I am also a noob. I have never touched AutoCAD but will be starting class this week and I am just doing some research to help myself get ahead. There have been several times I've run into issues with the beginner videos and there was clearly something else the instructor was doing but I couldn't quite figure it out. I feel you on this rating, it's the little things. Like when building the door block the creator should have said, "Make sure to grab the 3"x6" rectangle by the corner you want to connect to the door" I never realized until watching this part of the video (multiple times) that it matters where you decide to select the move point on an item.
You will need all the elevation to properly draw such a floor plan. However that will only give you the exterior walls. For interior walls, you will need sections as well. I hope this helps!

I am glad you found this video helpful, for the issue you have mentioned. You need to ensure a couple of things first.
1. The unit should be inches and insertion and length type should be architectural. You can check that in the unit window which shows up when you type UN and press enter.
2. Once you have unit settings in place, select rectangle command and click at a point and then type @51',31' and it will make the rectangle of required dimensions.
