It’s incredible to think a 16 to 17 year tormented boy locked away in his bedroom in suburban Reading created such incredible music that its echoes arrives to us today in the form of this beautiful arrangement.
@@sillygoose9070 Yeah Mike Oldfield is a strange case, he should have gone on from strength to strength, but after Ommadawn it was all watered down. Nobody really knows why, not even Mike, some say it was a combination of some therapy he did and also with the dawn of Punk, record labels were pushing him to do more commercial work and not hippy stuff. The only time he came close to it again was Amarok, it was almost a protest album, but with his guard down to play anything he liked, we got again that amazing creativeness of the first albums although disjointed and almost demo form. He still made some good albums, but he never reached the peak of the first three.
Yes, Sir ! I have to wait for my flat-mate to leave for a while so I can play him a little bit 'louder'...Ok, its 11.45 pm, on a Sunday night, but who cares...
This serves to reinforce what a genius Mike Oldfield is. If anyone doesn't know, he produced the original entirely on his own, painstakingly recording hundreds of hours of separate tracks. No digital in 1973, all done on magnetic tape!
In addition to this he cannot write or read musical notation, so he has his own way of writing down music, using a form of timeline, full of different colors and short notes of what it is supposed to be. All of it was in his head.
This music will stand the full test of time. People in 100s of years from now will still be listening to this timeless masterpiece, from the tortured soul that was/is Mike Oldfield. Great upload, cheers!
Wow. Been listening to this album for over 40 years and this version is absolutely brilliant. I'm stunned. What a superb arrangement. Beautifully played, great use of pedals, perfect tone and great use of the stereo field/ panning. Bravo. The best cover version I've ever heard.
Absolutely sublime rendition of this incredible piece of music. With the 50th anniversary performance I have been reconnecting with TB and as a guitar player I was recently wondering if anyone has tried to do a legitimate performance with all guitar. Well here it is! Wonderful job and thank you.👏👏👏
Superb job. I've been listening to TB since it was released and never thought that four guitars could do it justice. I was wrong. And it makes me even more awe-filled that Mike created it in the first place.
Four dislikes? I guess there is no pleasing some people. This is amazing. I've been working for about a year on a cover of this - there are still some parts that elude me. Congratulations to the JMB Guitar Quartet!
Nuanced, tasteful, polished, cohesive, amazing, and plenty of similar adjectives that don't exist...captures the soul of the song as I have known it for nearly 50 years now. Thank you!
Amazing. Probably the best all-guitar rendition I've seen of a MO piece. It's such a pity you haven't continued with it... Here you have a fan from Spain.
Brilliant! Attention to detail is flawless. Example: Right before the 15:00 minute mark...the two clean electric guitars playing harmony/melody. The stereo separation matches the original Oldsfield recording exactly!
Absolutely love this. I grew up on Tubular Bells, listening to my parents' album in the living room. This honors the original in a unique way and is the closest I've heard that's true to Mike Oldfield's original. My family album is long gone, but many years ago, I purchased the original Virgin Records release and play it regularly. If you haven't heard it on vinyl, there's no other way to fly. Just go out and find yourself a copy.
Really great job ! Thanks a lot !!! Some part 2 somedays or ... something more from Mike Oldfield as one of his 4 first albums (TubularBells, Omadawn, Hergest Ridge, Incantations) ? Thanks agin ! Very pleasant to listen ...............
8-) Bon ben oui quoi !! lol j'en perd mon Latin ! Version tres jolie rien à redire Jean-Marc !! Vous etes tous les quatre geniaux ! Merci pour ce moment de pur bonheur et de depaysement !
I've loved this piece of music since the day it was released. I own possibly on vynal and Cd probably every version MO has released. A timeless classic only loosely described this piece of music, it's as fresh sounding today as it was in 1973. Well done guys, you are amazing musicians. Keep it up...
Fantastic performance a true worthy tribute to this masterpiece. It absolutely blows me away that this creation came from such a young man on his own. The talent to play all these instruments incredibly well at that age is one thing, then the beauty of the music itself the arrangements moods and haunting melodies is on another level completely from anything else. My favourite album of all time
Durante el confinamiento del Covid-19 he vuelto a tocar la guitarra y gracias a vosotros he tocado este tema, os acompaño con la guitarra cada vez que os escucho. Gracias, gracias, gracias. Un saludo
It’s incredible to think a 16 to 17 year tormented boy locked away in his bedroom in suburban Reading created such incredible music that its echoes arrives to us today in the form of this beautiful arrangement.
Also strange that creativity peaks at such a young age. He did 'Omadawn'... but then everything after was derivative.

Incantations is sublime !
Holy Crap, Boys. I had to restrain myself from jumping up and applauding, all alone in my living room :) Bravo. What a performance. Thank you so much

I felt the same way! Fantastic playing
This serves to reinforce what a genius Mike Oldfield is. If anyone doesn't know, he produced the original entirely on his own, painstakingly recording hundreds of hours of separate tracks. No digital in 1973, all done on magnetic tape!
And was in the depths of depression and bad LSD trip anxiety and disquiet about life, when he wrote and recorded this masterpiece.
In addition to this he cannot write or read musical notation, so he has his own way of writing down music, using a form of timeline, full of different colors and short notes of what it is supposed to be. All of it was in his head.
This is so close to the original but has its own charm. Brilliant guitarists. I love this soulful ending so much.

Absolutely Great! Never believed this could have been adapted for four guitars in such a brillant way.

That guitar split at 13:59 gave my pants its own heartbeat. Wonderful performance!
Superb..thats all can add
Really good. This shows that hundreds of tracks are not needed for perfect harmony.
I love Mike Oldfield ' s tubular bells.

I have tears in my eyes! This is simply awesome - spellbinding from the first chord. And the audio is pin-sharp. Just brilliant.
Wonderful, how and when the second part? ... :)
Amazing. Probably the best all-guitar rendition I've seen of a MO piece. It's such a pity you haven't continued with it...

Meravigliosa versione. Bravissimi.
