I like to pull my long line out of the street, in case it could somehow get caught up in the car's wheels or something. (Just paranoid me trying to be safe.)

      Hey Ballyhoo-
You couldn't be more correct. I definitely should have addressed that. Safety first. Thank you for the spot on comment. This is what the channel is for. We want a very active audience as we never stop learning. Thank you.

I thought you use chain collar for dog to get discomfort when pulling? I have Mal male dog, walking on flat collar. We train to walk on street from 6 months, but only now (18 months) it gets little better. I often change direction when he pulls; and stop every time when he starts to pull heavily. Sometimes it is so exhausting...

Fantastic question. I use the chain collar for the sound that it creates and for safety as the dog cannot slip out of it. This is just one technique that I apply. The chain is more of a communication tool between the trainer and K9. We will be showing in another video how to take your dog on a walk using a head halter, flat collar, and harness. Each dog requires their own equipment depending on the needs that need to be addressed. Ms. Tiny was introduced to the chain at 8 weeks old. She understands the equipment and how it is used. The goal is to try to create the least amount of discomfort as possible. K9s 4 America will show other options that you can deploy on your K9 that will help with accomplishing the objective. Is your Mal of "choleric" temperament?

@@K9s4America Thanks for your answer! Yes, he is indeed choleric, as per your classification. I got him at 6 months, completely unsocialized. He was living in shed in rural area with some puppies from litter. Owner regularly harrased them as he believed to educate "angry guard dog". He was afraid of people, cars, children, everything. Now we are able to safely walk city streets, but still feel uneasy at people gatherings near malls etc. We have enormous prey drive (cats, deer, etc) and territory guarding (intense barking at bypassers of our fenced territory). Sorry fo long story, but seems you are only trainer giving importance to temperament issue. I want to make those other 50 percent of my dog as good as possible :)

@@aleksandrsbindemanis sound like you have an amazing K9 with lots to work with. We have a video coming out on the "5 Dominate Behavioral Reactions". The awesome news as you are already finding out is that you can help re-shape all the negative experiences. It's only a matter of time. It sounds like you're the perfect match to shape the other 50 percent. Thank you for the information on your journey. What's your dog's name? Please keep us updated on how your partnership with you K9 is going. Hope to hear from you soon.

Thank you for the comment. Ms. Tiny, Ms. Krook aka(krookie cookie), Ms. Bella, and Ms. Rose were all named by my daughter as she was one of their main trainers during their puppy development stage. Thank you for watching.
