- Kyosho at its best with this kit. At first, I thought this kit was expensive and overpriced but after building it, I have changed my mind and now I feel it's the best value Optima Mid currently on offer. With all the option parts you get in this kit, you start to see the true value.

I would Love a ReRelease Inferno Burns DX Nitro. Pleeease 🙏!
A low profile servo would give a cleaner look. Still an awesome build!
Those kyosho legendary kits are a real treat to build and look at.
The scorpion is my favourite. Very durable, great suspension, easy to maintain and an absolute missile on 2s and 3s!
I built the standard Optima Mid rere. I also bought nearly every aftermarket upgrade that I could get for it. EXO Design full carbon fiber chassis, Aluminum uprights and CVA shafts from Yeah Racing, if it was an upgrade I bought it. I called it the Unlimited Budget Optima Mid. All said and done I think I have about $1500 into it. I still haven't driven it, it's too pretty.
I actually think this is my fav build video so far. Interestings since I wasn’t a super mid fan but there is something special with the 87 works mid. Didn’t think I was gonna love the peppermint color but wow. I am super happy you featured it, not sure if I would really have noticed it otherwise 😊❤️
That diff builds and getting the paint right, man you need the patience of a saint…
One of the best build videos I've seen in a long time I like how you show the page detail as you are doing it. Loved Kyosho since I was a kid and that was a long time ago.
Thanks I enjoy making them. Unfortunately not enough people like watching them vs the amount of work and time it takes to make them, so I’m not sure how long I will keep doing the ultra detail build videos.
Wow, what a lovely build, looked like you had no issues at all. Awesome stuff!!
Thanks Gavin. I really like these calm long build videos. Very relaxing for evening viewing after work. Such a lovely kit as well.
Nice Video Gavin👍 I would also prefer the Limited Edition. But I just startet my biggest Associated Project. A '91 RC10 GX🤩 Keep on Racing 🐄💨
Cool, ball differentials Gavin. All RC cars should have them imho! Great video of a great car man. I'm interested to see how it handles on the track as I suppose many others are. Thumbs up bud!
Great build Gavin, I like the Kyosho optima mid and thought about this 60th anniversary one but I’m not a fan of the colour and no available paint anyway, I’d definitely go for a different colour scheme 😂
The 60th also gets front and rear ball diffs as standard. The entry level mid doesn't. Which means the kosworks one also doesn't get ball diffs ?
Remember running my turbo optima mid with the PK Sadle Pack battery bottom… lovely weight distribution
Nice job Gavin, I do love these detailed videos. Thanks for sharing!
Its a lovely car to build, the extra alloy parts aswell as the carbon are a big chunk of change. If your a carpet racer, back the slipper off before you get carried away 😉 good luck mixing the colour Gav, im sure you will nail it 👍
Good times with all these beautiful re-releases from Kyosho Tamiya Yokomo and Schumacher 🤩 but expensive times too 😂 Love the build video Gavin 😄👍
I’m amazed over the amazing quality of the Kyosho parts in this kit 😊
Gav, what do you reckon for an undertray? I assume the optima mid one wouldn't match up to the body, but would the optima pro one fit the chassis?
Just re-watched this video and it’s helped me decide on the 60th now that this and the Koswork are the same price
you think a Hobbywing 555 brushed will fit?
Enjoyed the video “but the music choices were borderline unbearable”
But I’m looking forward to building my 60th Mid as soon as I get time and I will definitely be waiting the body/paint video
Music, can't please everyone. The build doesn't need sound so it's an easy fix.
@@RCKickschannel believe me I wanted to mute the sound but then I wouldn’t be able to listen to your hints and tips 🙂
I’m not complaining or being negative about the video or its content “just the elevator music”
Keep up the good work 👍
Nice job, Gavin i think i might get one now 👍
Video is a bit long with no speaking 🤷🏼♂️ drags on a bit
A favorite for me, Thank you sir for showing this beauty.
I just got one this week form Amain Hobbies and it came with both sets of stickers
What yellow did you paint the turbo body ?
I couldn't help but notice that at 1:58 you advised the audience to fit the diff rail in its correct orientation......... but then you go glue it on back to front. Eeek 😆
I advise about it in the video because I almost did fit it the wrong way round myself and I noticed it in time. We all make mistakes and when I do, I make a note and try to inform others to watch out and not do the same. Something like this one, it could be a pain to fix after you have finished building the buggy and the clue has set, so it could save someone an hour of extra work. Thank you for watching the show 👍🏻
Nice, the quality looks great on the Kyosho rerelease kits
Thank you so much Sir!! Super nice of you building the rc in detail!!😊❤🎉
My pleasure, thanks for watching
Great vid!
But please use a smaller cutter plier to trim the parts off the tree like Tamiya has on offer. That's a beast you're using there. Much less filing, scraping, and sanding. 🤗
Already have a super fancy new one from a viewer :)
As someone who’s only ever had Tamiya (and a Traxxas) this kit build video blew me away. I was about to buy an Avante buy this has me very tempted.
I used to have only Tamiya... but I've now got all the legendary buggies (except regular scorpion), they really are something else 😎
I have just built the koswork with koswork upper deck and have had belt guard crack around back 4 screws bought new guard just touched screws down and cracked again have you heard of this
No I’ve not. I will check mine and see if it’s cracked.
Great! I am building this right now, my first proper RC Car and first one as an adult :)
Enjoy!
I would just use the aquablue out of the bottle and spray the wheels as well. That way they're matched 100% as paint usually dries up a different color to when it's still liquid. But then again, I normally hate box-art and in this case as well so I wouldn't bother and get a nice color with white wheels.
Great video. Very nice kit
Not a patch on the Turbo Optima in its golden glory. Yeah, it’s nice n all. But not a show stopper. And what a stoopid idea to have the coloured wheels when no actual paint colour exists…. That green is odd at best. However, IMHO this is way cooler than the RC10CC. Let’s wait on the Gold Pan ReRe later in 2024. 😊
Right. I'm not really feeling the salsa fusion background music. Not to pick or anything. It's just I don't know. Man like takes away too much from the actual content that's going on the regular home drum background music. Maybe I've grown partial to that. Anyhow, definitely got to get one of these. Love my kyosho!!!!!
The main difference in the limited is the ball differentials, 😂. Plus carbon chassis and upper deck( which you mentioned. 👍 so racing it would keep you competitive.
The diff belt ring? The one with a taper on one side, that you said to watch the orientation? It looked the wrong way round! Might just be my eyes though! (Edit) Scratch that, they both looked correct later on. Soz
No I fitted it wrong and had to swap it around.
@@RCKickschannelGreat memories from your build vid of my older brother building & racing an original Optima Mid. It was a revelation to us after our Tamiyas! So much adjustment & set up though, took some dialling in!
There is an official Kyosho video that shows you which colours they use to make the peppermint green. Looks like have the correct blue and white. The green they use is more of an "Army green" not that bright green. 70% white 30% green and a few "drops" of blue.
Lovely Calming Music👌!
He put me to sleep. NO JOKE!!
I always thought this kit was overpriced, but now I can see all upgrades, I understand the price tag!
I actually like the Kyosho build process better than the Tamiya process as there’s less chance to lose parts. In terms of the Special Edition I’m not a fan of the peppermint green and would probably do pink wheels or light blue and white given those colors were what was running around in the late 80’s
Is the optima mid chassy same in size and holes as the optima mid 60th prototype?
60th is a longer wheelbase
Absoultely stunning looking chassis. Pity about the body and wheels in that weird turquoise colour.
Love the sweatshirt!!
Question, on step 1 (Bag A) it looks like you positioned the rail incorrectly. Looks like you placed the flat side inwards where the guide says to put the flat side outwards. Is that correct?
Can’t remember now, it was ages ago. If I did, I fixed it as I don’t think you can build it with the rail incorrectly.
@@RCKickschannel Thank you for replying. I know it's odd because the flat side is actually not less nice side.
Awesome build video, love the 360 Gold 😊 It will be interesting to see what you'll do with the paint 😇
The 60th anniversary comes with ball diffs as standard as well good video 👍
Kyosho: "we are going to release this anniversary kit, look at the neat colour!" RC fans: "Awesome, you sell the paint right, or at least some one does?" Kyosho: "lolz"
Kyosho actually has a video on UA-cam that tells you exactly what colors to mix to get that color.
I thought that was pretty nice of them.
This comment has to be from an ‘Murican.
❤❤❤❤
The music puts Anne Murray songs in my head. lol
Damn you! One less at Tamico now 🤣
Enjoy!
What’s the best racing buggy 1/10 scale?
2wd, 4wd, vintage, modern, 1/10th, 1/8th and what's your budget?
£750
Those ball diffs are some of the most robust I’ve seen
whats the name of the song at 7:00?
Sorry, can’t remember now
Cant wait to receive mine... Kyoshos are amazing builds....Currently building a Procat and loving it you just have to take your time and be patient... But i love Schumacher builds... The difference in engineering between the two companies is very interesting to me.. anyways great video and thank you for what you do!
Kyosho builds and Schumacher are really different. Schumacher was more about track speed above all else while kyosho focused more on fit and finish.
Gr8 vid from Gavin. I wondered if PS-54 Tamiya Polycarbonate Paint Cobalt Blue is a close match to the wheels.
Unfortunately it's too dark
Off topic Gav.
Hows the blazing blazer coming along. ?.
Sitting in the main desk just out of shot. It only needs a day spending in it to finish it. Front grill, decals and roof.
Think you need to get a Lazer next, great car!!!
I did have a vintage Lazer in the collection, but I sold it on a while back.
they where just as fast as the Yokomo yz10 i used to race
The problem is the Spare parts😕
Please go back to the old style build videos
I can't win with you lot. People complain about not having enough build detail, people complain about adding more detail. People complain about not enough kit building. I did a poll on what people would like to see more of in 2024 on the channel and it was detailed kit builds by a mile. Since doing this I now get less views than ever while spending twice as long making and editing videos. I think I am just going to make what's popular and whats much easier to produce. Unfortunately thats RTR content. I tried lol
@RCKickschannel I think the old style of build video was much better imo. I have been watching since the 1st studio not the second or third..... when you had like 5 cars on the 1 shelf.
Love your content but don't like these long build videos sorry 😐
nice buggy
What are the black block stands made of that you perch your cars on?
Some black packing foam that came with an RC. We like free lol
Hmm, I wonder if a Turbo Optima belt and a longer chassis would let it fit a TOMS repro body
Yep I think it would be
A friend of mine cuts his own carbon chassis for comp crawlers. Being as the mid chassis is just a flat plate and doesn’t have any bends it would be pretty easy to do
Will you do a ball vs gear diff comparison?
Na. Ball diff for dirt and gear diff for carpet. It’s as simple as that.
Great job 👍❤
Very nice 👌
I think if your racing that could change which one you might want as the 60th has ball diffs the others gear diffs .
So if you want to race it on carpet not the 60th (ask rlrc 😂)
I would still get the 60th and swap out the diffs as you can get the gear diffs currently for carpet.
@@RCKickschannel true 👍 and I suppose cost wise all the extras on the 60th make it pretty good value compared to buying them separate.
Lovely cars whichever version 👌
Nice Video Gavin👍 I also would prefer the Limited Edition. But I just startet my biggest Associated Project: a '91 RC10 GX...🤩 Keep on Racing 🐄💨
Great vid, pleasure to watch. Kyosho kits are just awesome. The OG Ultima was my go to. I’ll possibly get the JJ version later on if I can.
This is like watching paint dry.
No, that’s in the next video
There’s actually plenty of videos where people just paint the bodywork, if you’re into watching paint dry. It is pretty addictive.
Different diffs ?
Ball in the 60th, gear in the stock. Pick your poison depending on what you race on.
As a retired guy who doesn't race anymore I'm ready to pull the trigger on one of these to use on my backyard track and practice sessions at my local large outdoor track. This or the Yokomo Super Dogfighter re-release. I had the original chain drive RPS Dogfighter back in the day. The only car I ever won an A-main with. That said it looks to me that this would be more challenging to build (and possibly more challenging to live with after). Of course I could be wrong. I'd love to hear opinions from any of you that have experience with both. I would need to run lipo shorty batteries. Will those work in this car? Thanks
Personal choice. The Super Dog Fighter needs upgrades out the box vs the 60th Mid so I would go 60th
