Would you sell front grill landcruiser
So your not using the nice jeep body
Jack Rabbit for sure man. Paying homage to your uncle is awesome and it’s a great name for an off-road rig.
Hell yeah, to jack rabbit
Perfect name , just respect for him
Yes!
JR.
Jack Rabbit is perfect Hillbilly 👌🏼
💯 %
He struggles with talking and is annoying. Liked it better when he didn't speak.
LycanHD, why be such a jerk? If you don't like his speech, don't watch the videos.
Jackrabbit is the perfect name.
@@jeffreyhunt8204 I mute his part.
Jack Rabbit is the perfect way to honor your uncle. Fits perfectly!
Robby, seriously, YOU, Hillbilly & Demri make me so happy... You guys warm my heart & aid in fighting my thoughts of depression and sadness. I love this channel 🤩Thank you 💙
Dragnfl. I’m fighting same. Yes Robby’s family and friends are inspiration builders for you and I. You are not alone. Best to you
As a former FJ55 owner, I can attest that the body on that one is about par for the course. They evidently came ready-to-rust from the factory. I wish you the Best of Luck in finding a decent one, for all its faults and built-in air conditioning and celestial observation ports, it was a fun vehicle. Especially in a rainstorm! Can't wait to see if you can build one!
“You should probably get out from under it. Do we have a Plan B?” The Boss is always the Voice of Reason!🤣🤣🤣
Thank you all for giving a old biker a good Sunday laugh. Riding Harleys for 50 years has taught me to use lock tight, and to add lithium grease on gaskets to stop oil leaks. Not to rig and only use new parts to avoid break downs. Also keep a nice pair of sneakers in your road bag for the unexpected walk. I noticed you pulled the primary and torqued it without a chain locker. I would bet that it loosened and is banging around. buy a Jims locker tool take her apart and check you primary side repair work. Pacific Mike and Kevin Baxter are great Harley repair you Tubers also Hammer Performance has many You tube videos . Demeri keep the boys inline and I hope your proud of how much everyone loves and admires you all.
I want to say Happy Father's day to the father's of the Robby Layton crew.
Hillbilly I think the name Jack Rabbit is a perfect name because it is a great way to pay respect.
The Boss is true savage with her commentary. How could anyone get annoyed with someone so sweet and innocent.
That's a bummer about the FJ55. But I'm sure you will come up with something better. Happy Father's Day, to all the dads at Robby Layton Nation, including the viewers.
Thank you, same for every body
That Toyota makes Ed’s Golden Nugget Suzuki look like an all original survivor car. Whew! You shouldn’t be surprised Robby.
HOLD UP !!!! about your harley problem , check the compensator nut (the nut that holds the stator rotar and front primary sprocket in place) the one you removed to replace the stator , if it has come loose it will make a knocking noise (as if its a bottom end problem) most likely it's loose if so use a little red lock tight and tourqe to spec.
Agreed. There is no reason for that bike to have a bottom end problem. However, I additionally suggest that the cylinder base gaskets might have blown on account of the motor being revved on a cold start before the motor comes up to temperature.
I know Robby has to spend a lot of time doing the "boring" day to day stuff running his business. But I'm super happy he trust and allows Hillbilly to run the show from time to time. You guys have the perfect chemistry. Glad to see y'all living a great life!
Not sure if I missed it but what happened with the thieves that stole your brothers stuff? They get found? Thanks as always for the laughs and fun! Demri’s giggle at the end is the cherry on top 😀
I've been wondering the same thing
Me also.
Been wondering the same thing 👍
me too
Robby you are a real hard worker. You are never afraid to get dirty or work on anything. Love your Channel and it is something to look forward to seeing. Thank all of you's that help make these videos
Jack Rabbit is the way to go! I have a 1990 Chevy 454 that was my Dads, his handle was The Grey Ghost. If i ever get the means to fix this truck i will honor him that way great idea!!!
Robby I love you guys! I grew up with a body shop on our property, my whole life. You’re fighting with the LS jeep so you can drive it to the rack. It took 4 X as long and saved you no time. I used to do the same thing when dismantling engines. If I took off a bracket, it would have saved me 20 minutes and bloody knuckles but I’m kinda stubborn. Y’all are fluffing awesome though!
I vote this channel as the best comedy venue on UA-cam. 👍👍👍 Very entertaining and educational as well.
Dude! Thank you for promoting Better Help! Being men’s mental health awareness month, it’s very important to address this!!!! Please, do not be afraid to get help!!!
unfortunately the 55 series landCruisers where prone to rusting even when they lived in the desert the roof drip rails would just rust out i wish you good luck to you in your endeavours sir your going to need it
happy Father's day to the crew...Jackrabbit would be a great honor to your uncle...sorry to see all the rust it looks like it lived it's life hard running machine....and hillbilly you have a Harley that's great and great videos 📹 if you're road trip.....demeri 😀 the voice of reasoning.....happy father's day..keep making great videos 📹 and bringing us along for the adventures 😀 😊 👍..
Hillbilly Jack rabbit is awsome and ya uncle would be so happy. Great video as always 👍
And the dream goes on.... it'll be all good.. it all works out in the end! Thx for the share😉
Even though it is a sad circumstance, it is heartening to know that there are some rabbit holes you won't race down.
Good luck finding the right body. Please keep an open mind to what model body to use.
Happy Father’s Day to Robby and crew.
*Keep the top!*
Keep the top. If I saw correctly in a previous video, the top is good. FJ55s are notorious for rusting through along the rain gutter, so bad that you used to be able to buy a replacement top to weld in at the pillars. You might find a body somewhere that's in good shape except along the gutters. Mine was.
Jackrabbit is perfect Hillybilly esp since it was the CB call sign of your uncle :))
Good morning from Siesta Key Florida
Happy Father's Day to all the dads
FJ55 parts are really, really hard to find. You should 100% be getting those parts to people who need them!
In those years we called them all Toyota Corodas which were made from the finest antique soup and coffee cans a garbage scow could carry. Back then on some early Japanese products that I repaired that had small to medium flat or rolled sheet metal panels you could still read the labels of the MaxwellHouse coffee cans they used to make some items after they cut the ends off and rolled them back into flat sheets. Since the insides of the tin cans were usually in better condition they faced out and were the only surfaces that were coated/painted and they left the painted label side alone. They've come a long way since way back then.
JackRabbit is a fine way to go and perhaps take it a step further and include your Uncles first name such as Bill's Wild JackRabbit or Mountain JackRabbit.
Hoping on the Harley its as some have suggested and just a nut on the primary sprocket not tightened to spec and come loose. Check out itshildo on UA-cam, a builder from the Netherlands, who appears to know how to get just about any combination of Harley parts (no matter how incompatible they may seem) working like a very deafeningly loud Swiss watch.
Best!
I think they use all the scrap metal from their old WW2 battle ships and downed Zeros as well as all the metal from the bombs dropped on them by the Allies.
@@billclisham8668 I didn't know that they put MaxwellHouse coffee can labels inside the Zeros, etc.
What I am saying is from firsthand personal experience with Japanese goods manufactured and purchased new in the 1960's and 1970's. Not all items were like that such as their high end cameras and such however what would be considered commodity goods often were. Some were tin children's toys and others were items such as small off-brand thermoses with sheet metal housings. Some would catch you by surprise while with others you kind of expected it.
Got a pair of light Japanese binoculars at a fair in 1969 that had an odd reflection when you looked through them and on disassembly you could clearly see the coffee cans label inside them when you expected it to be painted flat black inside. I coated the insides with flat black paint and they were much better afterwards. They were very cheap and not very powerful so I didn't really have high expectations but they were better than nothing.
Best!
19:20 Robby looking out for "Demri" the boss lol thats sweet 🤷♂️🤷♂️😁 it really is tho🤷♂️😁
I think that it would be awesome to honor your uncle's memory like that and I love y'alls videos
Kind of hoping you go with a different shell. That FJ55 didn’t seem to appealing. But that’s the beauty of building your own vision. It’s yours. Push on Robbie and ima keep viewing on!! Thanks for all you do.
This Harley story is going exactly as God planned! Many many many hours of tinkering and roadside repairs. But what else should life be? Perfection is Imperfection embraced :)
Amen
If you ain’t wrenching’, it ain’t a Harley! I’ve heard that wrenching is half the fun!
my dad a navy guy and a Goldwing guy said you buy a Honda to ride and a Harley to work on
@@accelement3499 Ouch!
@acelement3499-🤣🤣🤣
Keep up the good work love watching you on UA-cam
My FJ-55 was crazy fun! I look forward to what you create! I know it's going to be great!
Send the Harley to Sean (B&B) to get it running! Now that he’s moved to TN he might be a little closer to you.
That brings whole new meaning to rust bucket!!! Just DAMN hopefully sombody can come through with a better body!!!!
This will be a great build. Can’t wait to see the finish.
That fj55 body is what you'll fine up here in Wisconsin all over the place 😢 What great entertainment you and your crew Have ❤🎉. You're video are turning out great 👍. I have a suggestion about Hillbilly's Broncstar. On the front drive shaft. I noticed in the last video in putting on the front drive shaft. That the drive shaft was the wrong type of shaft. For your lift and flexibility of the Broncstar with that type of transfer case. The yoke that goes into the transfer case must be kept all the way in with out sliding out. For full strength. When that yoke slide out you lose the strength and starts to wobble ( under high torque loads )and break things like the yoke and the front output shaft. Because of the angle of the front drive shaft. The front drive shaft should have a slip yoke added in to get a longer travel. For the length that is needed for the flexibility of the front drive axle. I really enjoy your videos. Thank You very much 👍🎉
Even your failures are wins. Great video!
that knock in that harley is probably nut came lose on primary sprocket on the chain you all had off when you replaced stator..
I'm watching this on Fathers day so Happy Fathers day guy's, that FJ is definitely a rust bucket you'll find a good body to work with, great video thank's for sharing ❤😎👍
As a FJ55, Iron Pig, owner I can attest they love the rust. My floorboards are currently road signs I acquired.
Happy haircut HillBilly. Also where is the BroncStar ? Is it still up the canyon ?
That FJ55 Body is Toast
Ah man rotten deal on the FJ... BUT something will surface. Stay the course and going with the FJ. it's different from what everyone else is using. Time to get the Harley on the bench. Many options and directions to go with it. Just depends on how much you want to spend and what style you're going for. Either way looking forward to seeing what's next for both projects. 😎👍
What a bummer on the Toyota ! And you paid good money for it ! Thanks for sharing !
Thats a good air pump to hv man i aint ever saw one that little work thst great...
I thought about it Hillbilly. Since Jackrabbit was someone else's name and the crawler will be a Toyota/Jeep hybrid. A Jackrabbit and an Antelope is a hybrid creature, that "The Jackalope" would be a good name.
Happy Fathers Day ! I gotta grab one of those little Milwaukee batttery air compressors ! All I use is Milwaukee gear it’s the best ! Keep up the good work guys ! From Calgary, Canada
Jackrabbit!! ❤
That’s perfect !
Love the video
Happy Father's Day
Hillbilly, so much respect for you, jackrabbit is going to be great! Robby I can see the disappointment but you are so positive that I know you will find something cool.😊
Great video....i love ❤ the cam shots and narration....lol
Happy Fathers day Robby, love the videos and what you are all about, keep up the awesome work!
Hey Hillbilly. Two Things. First is Jack Rabbit is a honorable Name. Second. Thank you for the impromptu Compressor review. I am also a Milwaukee 18v fan and have not seen that unit before. Long Story short my New Milwaukee 2848-20 just arrived today.
@Hillbilly The skid plate that is welded to the oil pan is toyota stock ... my 74's FJ40 has that as well. So have all the FJ LC I've everworked on.
Hillbilly looks great with the new choppers and new teeth too 😄
Another great episode…. Thanks happy Father’s Day 🎉
That FJ body looks like a Michigan car after 5 years. Ya gotta love the rust belt part of the country.
Great video as always!
What a grand day for families. Happy Father's Day.
Ooooh! Shots FIRED! Th' Boss is mean! My 5.0 has blown MANY Chevs AWAY.
Hillbillie, Jack Rabbit is a nice way to honor your uncle! Robby, I have faith you'll find the body you need for the rockcrawler! You have many friends and viewers who love you, one of them will come thru and be the hero! Til next time, take care, and we'll see you on the next...
I hope the donor body is the same exact body as the FJ55 that you already have because that build idea was growing on me and I was starting to like it and I even caught myself waiting in participation for the next video of the FJ55 build on the XJ frame but now I hope you either find another body just like it or an old Toyota body or an International body to put on that frame
Wouldn't another FJ55 be exactly the same as this one? Minus the rust?
I agree with you Hillbilly......
Jackrabbit was and still a great handle.
👍🏻
8:10 carb cooling fan. 60 series have them too
Jack rabbit 🐰. It’s coming along nicely so far. Can't wait to see more videos soon my friends. Fab On. Weld On. Keep Making. God bless.
Not surprised with the FJ rust. The old Toyotas are known to have very poor corrosion protection. Hopefully you can source a decent replacement. Maybe the guy that FabRats bought his FJ from has another.
It may be cool. But your family will be In this thing. Putting the new keep body back on your custom frame might be better. This includes the creature comforts, and the safety belt and air bag restraint system. I pray you do the right thing for the safety of your team and family members. Good luck what ever you do.
Love that giggleling.
OOOOOooo HillBilly GOT A SHAVE:))) YOU look good myfriend 👍
Hilarious when the jumper cables were arcing 😅
I thought you had a plan for the fj55 rust bucket ,it a wonder it was still resting on the frame, good luck with that
Quite professional 🙌yay!
Saw your new body already on the harley engine teardown. The one in the video... LOL
Perhaps cut all of the inner structure out. Just leave the skin like a funny car body. The wheel wells will be cut anyway to clear the tires. Rock sliders handle the sills. Build a tube birdcage to support the body panels or could even be an exo if you like that look. Build your own floor - could even be expanded metal depending on how hard core you want that thing to be. You don't need any of what is most rusted.
Jackrabbit is a cool name Hillbilly, and you work on cars , didn't you know the steering column unbolts from the dash and just slide it inside out of your way. No having to wait to move the cab. And the cab will be easier to move if your not worried about breaking the steering column.
I was so looking forward to seeing fresh metal fab to save the FJ55. Rust is the Achilles Heal of Land Cruisers.
That old Toyota is pretty dang rough... You guys have a LOT of work ahead of you!
Jackrabbit is a perfect name Hillbilly! Great job!
Don't get in there Demri you'll get hurt! *crawls in there*. I love you Robby, that's comedy right there.
Hill Billy lookin fresh with the new hair cut!
If it was a 1983 Olds Cutless, I am sure the Underground Paint King would buy it. He's in the same boat as you and bought a complete rust bucket, hoping he could salvage it. Sometimes our impulse buys get the best of us.
Great name Hillbilly and Good video Happy Farther’s Day
That’s a really nice name for the yota!
Hillbilly, Jack Rabbit is PERFECT, mainly for th' sentiment involved, but it's also a cool name for an off-road vehicle. My 4X4 p/u is named after my Sister, Cindy, and she's just as tough and fun and just as difficult, sometimes, as my Little Sister 💙. My Ranger, Cindy Lu, is blue and that's BOTH our favorite color.
Take a road trip up to New Hampshire where I live we have we have a field of them down the road lol all of them for sale
Hillbilly trimmed and shaved and looks alot better. Happy Father's day and hope everyone has a great day.
Hillbilly, Jackrabbit sounds perfect. What a great way to keep the memory of your uncle alive. 😊
I like jack rabbit and using his old cb handle. The truck my uncle Bob left behind is now called Bob.
Riding or maney years, I would suggest running some Race fuel in it. Sometimes 91 isn't enough in a motor like that built one. And alson running a tank of Race fuel will clean it out.
Carburetor cooling fan runs after key off until it cools down. Prevents vapor lock from hot-soaking.
Beat part of the whole video...when Demri burns Hillbilly! 😂😂😂
Going to be such a sweet rig
I think that's an awesome idea Jackrabbit rocks
Down here on the Gulf Coast, we never make plans with a vehicle unless we've looked it over underneath for rust. Apparently that FJ55 came from here!😆
Happy Father’s Day Robbie and Hillbilly
It looks like a jackrabbit. Ready to run.
Sweet I need one of those air pumps
