    In this video, we have set up a hybrid electro-acoustic drum kit, combining the Agean "R" Low Noise Cymbals (recorded with a pair of stereo overhead mics) with drum-tec diabolo electronic drums, connected to Roland TD-25 / TD-30 and ATV aD5 sound modules.
    You can find all of the components from the video in our online shop:

    agean has really completely changed the game of silent Cymbals. These Cymbals combined with the Diablo sound literally as an acoustic instrument. Agean. You MAKE IT!!!

  •  6 років тому +11

    Now finally they did the right Cymbals to use with E Drums. instead of investing 20,000 in a studio it is smarter to buy a Diablo + Agean Cymbals. Congratulations AGEAN you really make the best silent Cymbals ever!!!

    They definitely blend the best with the aD5. The aD5 has a dry, natural tone that works well with the Agean cymbals.

    Wow i like these cymbals, the feeling of the cymbals must be a lot better then the rubber e cymbals. I also like the sound of these cymbals👍 think the are great for jamm sessions and small gigs like I used to do.

    Sounds excellent. How are you monitoring the levels of the cymbals into your headphones? Are you using a separate audio interface?

      exactly the question I was going to ask Scott??

    • @drumtecTV
      @drumtecTV  6 років тому +2

      Hey Scott, yes. Both the signals of the two OH mics as well as the sound modules´ stereo outputs can go into an external small mixer/audio interface for integration/monitoring/recording. Kind regards!

      Hey folks, after some testing we sadly cannot recommend using the Ageans with Gen16 pickups. The Agean´s holes are slightly bigger than the Gen16s, so the pickups won´t fit nicely & create a rattling trashy sound when the cymbals are played. In addition to that, the mounting of the pickups makes the cymbals sound "choked" and they lose a fair amount of their nice natural sustain. So our recommendation is using them with overhead mics. Sorry for that & kind regards!

    HI, do you know if it's possible to put aegean R cymbals with the zildjan dcp system? The gen 16 sound is not very good, but maybe, combine aegean with dip would be better. I search a system for using acoustic drum with electronic cymbals for professionally using. I often play in small places and the traditional cymbals sound is too much took by the singer microphone. Thanks for your help.

    • @drumtecTV
      @drumtecTV  5 років тому

      No, it does not work. You better use a pair of overhead mics for the cymbals, this makes the setup a lot cheaper & easier to handle (otherwise you would need the Gen16 pickups AND module). Apart from this, any acoustic cymbals will sound considerably better through a pair of stereo overheads, then through a direct pickup. (try holding you ear directly to a cymbal...) ;-D kind regards!

    Do you think it will be possible to build an adapter for the gen16 pickup and mount without changing the sound?

    • @drumtecTV
      @drumtecTV  6 років тому

      Hi Glen, no probably not, as the Agean cymbals are also thinner than the Gen16 cymbals, so their sound gets choked real quickly when applying anything like a pickup. Kind regards!

    Great video Rolf, but didn't you have difficulties with recording the cymbals? Than you here the drumsound (raw sound from the pads to) How did you filter that my friend? Hey Rob, thank you very much! No problems there, the mesh heads from the drum-tec pads are so silent that you don´t hear them anymore when mixing overhead & module sound :) kind regards!

    •  6 років тому +1

      Good question.

    •  6 років тому +3

      drumtecTV im very happy to know that drum heads don’t have interference on cymbals microphones.

    • @drumtecTV
      @drumtecTV  6 років тому +2

      Hi Joao, the heads are audible on your overhead mics. But if the OH mics are placed well, the mesh sound from the drums is so silent, that you won´t hear it anymore when you bring the sound module in the mix. Kind regards!

    • @drumtecTV
      @drumtecTV  5 років тому +1

      Hey Roel, they probably are, you could still mic them up with a pair of overheads if you need more control & volume. In comparison with an acoustic kit, they are rather silent though. Kind regards!

      @drumtecTV  6 років тому

      Die Agean Low Noise Becken sind deutlich leiser als normale Becken, dh prinzipiell ja! Kommt aber auf die Nachbarn & die räumlichen Verhältnisse an ;) für eine Mietwohnung sind low noise Becken allgemein wahrscheinlich zu laut. Viele Grüße!

    • @Sephaer

      drumtecTV Und die umgerüsten Toms etc wie verhält sich das? Mit einem klassischen E-Set wird das zu laut sein, die sind halt nicht auf Lautstärke optimiert.
