The second half of this album (BIBIYD-Build God) has a very special place in my heart. Panic! through and through, a huge part of who I am today. I'll always listen to it fondly
Thank you for saying this so frankly. I’m revisiting this album after years of not listening to it, and I’m reminded that the run of songs you’ve pointed out is probably one of my favorite in music period. They were definitely better and innovative musicians beyond what they received credit for.
This album is definitely either an acquired taste, a grower, or just nostalgia. I’m in my teens right now so I wasn’t really there when it came out originally, but I will die on the hill that this is one of the best albums of all time. Just bc it’s so iconic and it’s a masterpiece how when you listen to it in order its like a play
Fever You Can't Sweat Out and Pretty. Odd. are my two favourite Panic! albums, bar none. Death of a Bachelor is probably number 3 followed closely by Pray for the Wicked and Vice and Virtue.... Imma be real, I just love Panic! and I have listened to Panic! at the Discography (i.e. their entire discography) on Spotify more times then I care to admit, lol.
First thing about this album is that you definitely have to listen multiple times to start liking some of the songs, second is that hearing live versions of many of the songs will probably cause you to enjoy them better. Especially as Brendon got older and became an even better vocalist. You have to remember they were only 17 and 18 when they made the album. I enjoy all the albums and can and do listen to them all over and over and over but albums 3-6 are definitely the best in my opinion. On those 4 albums I never skip a single song whereas albums 1 & 2 have some skippable songs or ones just not payed as much attention to when listening. Since you like But It's Better if You Do you definitely should check out Brendon's live jazz Version of it. He sang it in New York at a thing called Sleep No More at the McKittrick hotel in 2013. He was playing the part of a Lounge singer. Afterwards the band had an album release party for the 4th album. Here are a couple videos. The first one is only a little over a minute of the song but it is actually video of him singing it. The second is the full song but just the song with no visual of Brendon. ua-cam.com/video/UomCpM6pGKk/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/wbGSh09-FNU/v-deo.html Enjoy
Album 2 sure Pretty Odd wasn't great but AFYCSO is the best there are no bad songs but the later albums are just worse unless you like pop music more than most emo fans would
patd was brought under pete wentz (fob)'s wings, so thats why theres more similarities in these early albums! it was thanks to fob that their success took off
It’s so funny you mention a collab with Fall Out Boy because Pete Wentz (FOB bassist) signed them onto his label and that’s what birthed this album. They’ve done crossovers before and went on tour together (pretty sure about that last one anyway). And I also agree with what others have said - this album is one you gotta listen to a few times and it’s definitely before they matured and Brenden found his groove. This album will always hold fave a place in my little pop-punk heart!
I saw the music video for I Write Sins back in 2007, when I was 8 and fell in love. I rediscovered the band and their later (and then upcoming) albums for myself in middle school and this album is eeverything to me.
Fever is a very particular taste, alot of old fans hype it up incredibly, but as someone who used to adore this album I have very much grown out of it already at 18 and can understand why it's even more unlistenable without nostalgia 😅 Time To Dance was kinda a classic to say it's not a single, and I personally also love Esteban (and "Build God", which was also a single!) but yeah... first 5 tracks are chaotic and immature, pointless interlude, overplayed big single, I honestly don't get why people choose to die on the Fever hill. 2nd Panic! album is v Beatles/Beach Boys classic rock inspired, my personal fav with Vices just below it, but yes I sadly don't think that'd be to your taste either even though that's a genuinely fantastic album :)
I think part of it is just the really bad recording quality and mixing of the tracks and Brendons voice sounding less good because of it but yeah it definitely doesn't hit as good as when I first heard it still like most of the songs though just not as much as I once did.
I think people only hype up the first two albums so much is because they worship Ryan OR they got really set in the unique sound. all of brendons albums post break-up, have been better technically. I personally love the most recent two albums and vices most because they're technically the most diverse and interesting. but idk.
I could honestly go on and on about this but I truly don't think Brendon gets enough credit for all he's done and how technically impressive everything he's made himself is because people are stuck in their nostalgia and their biases. but I'm a relatively new fan so maybe thats just me being green
But it’s better if you do is better than I write sins for me. Not just because I wrote sins was so overplayed but the transition at the end of but it’s better always hits. There’s a good reason is one of my favourites just cause it’s fun to listen to!
Ah memories. A lot of the tracks in this album are quotes from a lot of different books. 6th track - Time to Dance is literally the plot from Diary by Fight Club author Chuck Palahniuk. But if you were confused by how hard it went in the beginning, the way they arranged the tracks is on purpose. It goes from more electronic sounding to more classic instrumental. Then as you get to the latter half, it’s kind of reversed. More classic orchestration with a little burst of EDM here and there. Edit: the track Intermission is when it switches
You gotta think real fast but it’s just like life moments are gone in a second but every single second was beautiful, like a sick ah roller coaster I guess 😂🔥🔥🔥
Love your videos so much! My favorite (like many others) is probably time to dance, but you should definitely react to time to dance live in denver!!! It's even better than the album version I don't think you'd be disappointed!
I personally love the last four albums of P!ATD, (I only love three songs from the first album-the ones you also liked, and 9 in the Afternoon-from Pretty Odd. You can hear the quality of the music and lyrics improve once Brendon started to take more creative control. Each album is so wonderfully different from the last that I can’t pick a favorite-basically whichever one of the last four I’m listening to at the tine is my favorite.
just stumbled onto your channel and i have to agree on your opinion bc i too think i write sins is #2 to but its better if you do hehe and i want to point out the transition from one to the other (and from the intermission) is not as smooth bc of spotify! i have the physical album (purchased back in the day) and the transitions did not pause which is why to this day I only listen to the burned version from the album 😅
They are still good but the recording and mixing is terrible and hurts the old albums a ton. I've been listening since the beginning and used to die on the hill of the early albums but just can't anymore they are no longer the best albums.
@@jacksmith-vs4ct maybe not mixing mastering wise but the imagine dragons-esque post-modern pop sound production that’s been around since early-mid 2010s definitely isn’t for me. The lyricism on AFYCSO is also insane like how tf did they write that especially since they were like HS age like wttf fr lol sure I was a scene kid way back when so I’m a bit bias but still. Too Weird to Live popped up in my recommends & while the production is a lot cleaner & Brendan’s voice is a obviously amazing, it just sounds like generic radio music to me from the little bit I heard.

On the CD in my player that transition between “it’s better if you do” and “IWSNT” is seamless! So it may be what you’re playing it on haha

Their production and arrangement philosophy on this album was "more is more." It is pretty extra!
I'll be 60 years old rocking this album and all my 11 year old albums similar to this 28 now and still playing them 😂
patd was brought under pete wentz (fob)'s wings, so thats why theres more similarities in these early albums! it was thanks to fob that their success took off
Great reaction! this album is so nostalgic me it'll always have a place in my heart
you will not hear this sound anywhere else. this album is an unique classic. they debut wit the biggest flex..
“we can do anything”
This album is wild haha. I love it though.

The way i squealed before i clicked on the video
This album was integral to my high school years. I was obsessed.
This is my favorite album from PATD

I hope we can all agree that Nails for breakfast is ATROCIOUS

i like when it says "sit back sit back relax" in camisado you sat back lol
Gotta watch live in denver
I would like to suggest you react to Whatever People Say I am that is what I'm Not, the first album by Arctic Monkeys. Thanks for the content!
Fastest selling debut album in UK history. That’s saying a lot when you consider the other amazing bands that debuted in the UK. Iconic album.
Best arctic album ever, 10x better than AM

The first two albums are great, however, the following has been mainstream sellouts.
