Restoration is the height of talent, precision and patience. Each one I watch, whether it’s Soviet-era motorcycles, watches, or designer bags, I am completely blown away by the knowledge and skills a restorer possesses. It’s a real joy to watch. I have to say though, the restorations of these gorgeous bags are my favourite ;)

Can applied dye from the bag stain your clothes? How long does the spot where the leather came off last before it needs restoration again?

Wondering why you didn't tape off the logo fastener on the outside.
Hi Linda, Each leather type, bag and restoration is completely bespoke. This item mainly showed sings of wear to the corners, base and interior flap. all of this work could be carried out easily avoiding the large iconic Chanel Boy metal work.
@Gina Palumbo A restoration takes a number of hours to complete, more work is carried out than what you can see in this video. Chanel boy metal work is Ruthenium-Finish Metal which is designed with that darkened edgy look. Should this have been high shine palladium or gold we would have replated this to bring back colour and shine, however that is not the design of this bag. The metal work will have been lightly buffed and polished with the suitable specialist product for that metal work prior to being returned to Frankie, who is thrilled with the work.

We restore as conservatively as possible which is why we only applied our leather colourant to the key areas that our specialist felt it needed such as the corners and the base. As Lambskin is an absorbent leather the nourishing balm used adds vibrancy and shine while restoring the colour. Different products and techniques work for different leather types and problems which is why every restoration we do is bespoke to each bag and each client.

Chanel really needs to work on their quality!It takes a lot of audacity to ask 4000+ for a bag that looses shape in less than 2 months&deforms on it’s own!I’ve seen more resistant leather bags from cheap brands tbh

i am a bit irritated because of the metal clip of the bag and the logo are still looking dirty, but good work on the leather
Hi Ferda! The metal work has been cleaned and lightly polished, however, this bag is designed with Ruthenium-Finish Metal meaning it promotes a darker worn look; like the one in our video. If this had been a high shine palladium or gold we would have replated this however, that wouldn't have been in keeping with the style of this Boy. Traditionally, the Chanel Boy bag is ironically a more edgy Chanel ✨
