Hi Tara, Apollo drinking the water while your bathing him and then trying to get hold of the hose, he's so funny, he always wants to help doesn't he, he's a character bless him, I loved his tap dancing lol, Farouk didn't want his bath today bless him especially on that left side away from the camera, I wonder when he rolled did he bruise himself a little on that side, he's a good boy though they both are, big little boss supervising I see, what a good boy he is and gorgeous too, well yesterday Wednesday was the best day so far here so I went to see the horses, one was right by the bushes so I could hear him/her crunching on the grass and I'm sure he/she was eating leaves off the bush, aw Tara it was like I'd died and gone to heaven I wish I could record that sound, I stood there with my eyes closed just for a few seconds, oh it was beautiful, I don't know what sex the horse is the cover is in the way but I'm sure the horse knows lol, I could've stood there all afternoon but alas I had to get home to cook tea, we did 6. 29 miles so it'll do, today is back to very windy and raining so today we got wet through, oh well such is life when you have animals to love, anyhow my lovely have a good day with your boys and keep warm, hugs to you all xxxxxx
I looks like they both enjoyed their mud bath at ‘the spa’! Muddy, mucky messes, both of them. Lol...how does Apollo like taking a sip of warm water? Such a clown! It sure was nice that Fens was there to help hold Farouk when he got fidgety. “Yes, mom. That’s right. Bring that food right here. Apollo can wait. I want din-din right NOW!” I am getting ready for our annual winter ski/snowshoe weekend in the mountains, so I had better get off this device and get packing....lots to do!
Tara The area we go to is known as the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania. There is a rail trail through the gorge, and in the summer, there are opportunities for kayaking, white water rafting, fly fishing in Pine Creek and biking any or all parts of the approximately 50 mile stretch of the Pine Creek Rail Trail. There are wooded trails all over fro right outside our door. This time of the year, we also enjoy our spots by the fire, with a book, or knitting, or even snoozing after a vigorous day on the trails. And I don’t have to do any cooking!!!!!
When Farouk came out of the trailer, I burst out laughing. Both horses look like they carried half the field in with them. However, I couldn't disagree more with Marsha's comment about Friesians. Arabians are my favorite breed but Friesians have a majestic movement about them. It's quite evident that Apollo is one smart horse and I love how he shows affection for his special humans!
Hi... Farouk and Apollo...Like two peas in the same pod !.....Tara and Rens....also ...Like two peas in the same pod !. So nice that you both have the same interests and can enjoy all your "three boys" together...Mike and I also have the same interests, ours is the outdoor life, cycling walking and just love being outside. On very cold windy days most people would think we were mad !....But we get well wrapped up and get out there !....When you are out horse riding especially at Boltby, we have done lots of walking around there and I often think how nice it would be to catch a glimpse of you either on Apollo or Farouk....Maybe one day !....Thanks for a lovely video...Take Care xx
They are both so good, it looked like Apollo was thinking about doing it himself at one time. 🥕🥕 I see Ike was taking his supervising role seriously. My friend and I used to end up as wet as our horses. Both were fidgets and would always shake before we could get the water off 😏. Thank you for sharing
HAPPY NEW YEAR, to you, Miss Tara, and your Loves! I am always in awe of the bond you have with your FurBabies. As you were washing Farouk's face, especially around his eyes, he leaned towards you asking for a more thorough washing. Miss Tara, you knew exactly what he was asking for and gave him what he wanted. Apollo was impatient. He wanted you to hurry and get to the back... He tried to help you by stepping forward as if to say...."Do the back, Mum, do the back NOW! Funny! Thank you, Miss Tara, for sharing these moments with us! HUGS!!! M
I just can't get over how tall Farouk is for an arab. Gives him such a regal look. And how sweet is he to offer his feet. And Apollo, how striking he is when his coat is shiny and wet. Such a gorgeous Friesian. And little Ike thinking... whew, glad it's you and not me buddy... I get MY baths INdoors.. hehe. Farouk looks so cute when he's hungry and knows food is coming. Such a wonderful life. Thanks for sharing it with us!
Farouk stood so nicely and then Apollo wanted to dance. But oh, he is so majestic!👑 And VERY dirty! Little Ikey-so cute! Doesn't Farouk have his ways of letting you know what he wants. LOL!🥕
OMG Apollo and Farouk have the outdoors all over themselves. A shower is really needed by both of them. Farouk has such beautiful slender legs , he puts my fat legs all to shame. It is the absolute cutest thing when he holds his feet up for you . Apollo did it too, but he seemed restless today. They both look beautiful when you put the warm blanket on them. Farouk let you know his dinner was outside of his door. He was ready to eat. I think it was a hard day for you Tara and you must be tired , Ren you seem to still have your splint on your wrist , I hope your wrist feels better soon.
Tara they are both beautiful horses, but Farouks got a beautiful face, or shall i say very handsome, and i love how you and your husband really care for both of them, its lovely to see.
Much as I enjoy every minute of Apollo and Farouk in motion - in the manege, the paddock or the field, on the trail and cantering across fields, I also like watching them being (relatively) still as you wash, rug and feed them.
The boys had a good time in the field! Mudcakes, both of them! The concrete apron makes a big difference for washing them. That was a smart addition on several levels. Farouk loves getting his face cleaned! I thought Apollo was going to take the hose and start squirting everyone! Thanks for sharing really nice video. Xoxoxo
Hello Tara ! That incrdible how They love to roll in the mud....its a protection for them against winter,a natural rug ... As i dont have warm water i use to clean them with a vacuum cleaner when they are dry...can do that each day ....i want some snow to clean them...but not on the roads....😘
I seriously can’t wait to give my horse a bath!! 🐷😫 it’s been such a wet and muddy winter here in Michigan, USA. Too cold to bathe so gotta wait for warmer days. Lucky! 😂
Hi Tara, Oh Mum, don’t clean my toes, nor wash me said Farouk.... all done nice and clean...🥕🐴. Apollo’s turn....what’s up Mum it took me ages to get this mud on me....hum.....🥕🥕🥕
Beautiful. Farouk is such a sweetheart, so cute liftinghis little feet and so expressive. Then big brothers turn, Apollo, so funny and warmhearted. And little ikie just staying far enuf away to avoid the same. Love to give him a cuddle XXXXX ♥️♥️♥️🐴🐴🐴🐕🐕
Such beautiful horses. They stand very well ... patiently getting all the mud off after a day out rolling and running in the field. This looks like it was before they were clipped ... probably warmer weather? Thanks for a video of a day at the spa. Ike was thankful he didn't have an appointment.
Farouk has an expression like, "I seriously hate this process...". All I can say is oh, the luxury of a hose. And one that doesn't freeze. Many a time I have had to let a muddy horse dry, then go through course brushing, currying, brushing, currying etc. to get mud off. Argh, what a process. And when you think you have them pretty clean, you ride them, they sweat, and all the fine grunge comes floating to the surface. And I have a white horse...😓
Love the way Farouk & Apollo look before & after their shower spas. And their matching horse rugs they both look very handsome in them. How clean will Farouk’s rug stay?🥰
Frisian & Arab horse washing approved by Ike the Overseer. "Well done!" lol Tara, I have an idea to share. I think Farouk's issue with water is that when he fell, he landed in deep water. Since he would be small, this would become a terror memory. Where he was raised they could have a lake for watering. As every time he has reacted, it was when water was near his chest and upper area as he did in this video again too. How to get him over this however is a good question since I have not seen a place that would be deep enough to get him in that far to swim until he feels okay with it again that it is not a fright, but actually can be fun. Once he's settled enough not to be of harm to you, you could swim with him and play as an extra help. On an overnight camping ride you get to do this with your horse and they just love it. They never reacted to water being tossed at them either.
Will farouk get any bigger? (the brown one. Sorry I don't know anything about horses) I'm wondering how long it takes them to grow to their full size 😊
What should i put on my horse when i wash them at winter or colder time usually he is out 24/7 put if i washed him and had him in the stable until he tried i dont want to leave him with out anything on but if i to put something on him it will probably absorb the water no?
J .M There are special drying blankets, I think. I‘ve seen people on UA-cam using them and supposedly, they work quite well, keeping the horse warm, while allowing the absorbed water to evaporate on the outside. No personal experience, though.
How sweet, He just lifted his back leg up for you so gentlemanly like😄 By the way, I was watching some older videos when you first got Apollo, whatever happened to Zeus? Just curious
Still stunning both of them now here coms the grafting the pick out feet then follows the brush and a tickle of the belly’s 🥕🍎 oh you got me there with the hose pipe 😉
Just wondered. Is this one of the first times that they were washed since the new cement was done. If so, perhaps Farouk was not happy with the sound the splashing water made on it. Or maybe it was just the fact he knew his meal was coming soon & just wanted to get to it. Whatever, I enjoyed their baths & their expressions. See you soon.
Hi Tara, I was going to ask if that was warm water, but after reading on I assume it is warm. That's really nice for the boys, and you. It would be pretty cold on your hands if it weren't. The boys seem to enjoy their bath. It's cute the way Farouk lifts up his feet for you. Does Apollo do that too? Their new red rugs are beautiful on them. Are horses color blind like some other animals? I sure hope not. Nice video. But then I always enjoy watching your videos. Looked like Ren's was happy to help you, that's sweet. TTFN! 😘🤗💖🌹🥂
Big dissy for Farouk. He seemed to be expecting a carrot from Rens after his rug was put on. How much bigger is Apollo than Farouk please (length and height)? Farouk looks a lot more petite when he comes out the horse box but I think you said before he's 16 2 which is not small. Maybe it's just that Farouk has a slighter build.
Tara, wondering why you don’t have Apollo’s feet with the gorgeous hair ...fetlocks? There is nothing like a Frisian with their fetlocks grown out! Love the breed. But just wondering. Just love your guys! Also wondering where you are able to wash their blankets?
Do both Apollo and Farouk immediately head for the wettest mud spot in the pasture? Considering Farouk's dislike of anything wet, it surprises me that he likes a mud roll, especially as my Morgans and Standardbreds were all over their pastures to find the absolutely driest spot, as the dry sands were the most abrasive for the best scratches, as well as shaking off better instead of mud caking on their coats. I didn't see an inline shampoo bottle, do you use one? And considering what was visible on the coats, what color did the rinse water end up 😉? All I could think of was the brown bath water when I had to clean off my sons when they were little and immediately found the biggest mud puddles to play in every time they went outside [and all 4 now adult sons with their own children will be blushing violently that I dared to mention something that embarrassing! ].
Am I the only one who noticed there was really hardly any bedding in the stalls? That Arabian could use some weight put on . Little thin looking in the back end. I have never put a blanket on a wet horse before. If it is cold out the blanket absorbs the wetness and can keep them chilled. I wait to wash mine when it is warm outside to do so.
Tara, didn't you tell me you don't use shampoo on the boys? Gosh, the are gorgeous. Where Cheyenne lives, there is only cold water. I have to tie her to my trailer to get this done. It is Unfun. Have you ever tried using a hair dryer?? I have not. And I don't own any of those things they are wearing. Rugs?? You are so pretty. I love allll of the videos. Tomorrow our weather here where we are, they are predicting freezing rain. Oh lovely. lol Hugs sweet lady. I am sure they will call off our club ride. No one is goofy enough to ride in or on ice. My horse trailer has a flat tire so I would not go anyway. Be safe and have a wonderful day.
Not sure I understand about washing horses without soap on a cold, windy day and then putting them away in concrete floored stalls with no bedding!?! A good going over with a curry comb or dandy brush would suffice.
the stables have a thick rubber floor so no need for bedding. I use miscanthus for their wee spot. Plus the water is heated. Soap takes the natural oils out of a horses coat. Live and learn.
We will eventually concrete our wash rack too... but for now it is gravel and a couple of rubber mats... Glad to see the concrete was done right the second time. How cold was it that day? We only have cold water at the rack so my young lad has to make do with brushing and a damp sponge in winter. It isn't so bad as he is on sand, so even when he rolls its pretty easy to brush off. We do have a propane 'on demand' heater in the tackroom, which, if I beefed up the tap on the sink, could be used to run hot water to the wash rack, maybe once the concreting is done... 🙂 It sounds like you are near a busy road too. Are those moisture wicking blankets? My lad will need bigger blankets next year, and after seeing yours, with the clips at the chest, I will be looking for a winter rug with those - so much easier on the fingers in the cold, than buckles! Always a pleasure seeing your well planned set up, and how much easier it makes looking after the boys.
That's not fair Tara, neither one of the boys got to vote on bath or no bath! Poor Ikie just ran before "mom gets any idea about me" Nice to hear the birds chirping in the background. It's cold, snowing and windy here in Michigan. Thanks for another great video!♥️🐴🤗
I like the video but there is a few things that I am off with here. First hoseing the face is a no no on most horses. Obviously the bay one was a little bit nervous when you was close to his ears and on his face. You should of at least told him it was okay and gave him a small break.
I am also unhappy that when the black one started to move forward a little bit you moved infront and sprayed him with water aggressively. This can make a horse be fearful of water depending on what their age is as younger horses tend to get more frightened then older ones. Just please be careful with what you do and also learn a bit more and how to do things correctly.
Oh, love that - Farouk obligingly lifted his feet for you!
👍🐴
I was thinking the same thing very nice that they lift their feet for her
♥️@@minnieroberts2756
Omg that automatic foot lift was so cute!!
Ahhhh .....Nice warm shower and squeaky clean xx
👍😂
Well they both looked like very naughty boys when they arrived home 😆 then converted to very handsome gents in their rugs once they were finished 😁 🎩
They both look like they are sorry now for getting so mucky. I love watching you take care of your horses Tara xx
All lovely and clean again, two beautiful boys. x
They seamed to enjoy their baths. 👍☺️
Ahhh... all clean again and both snug as a bug in a rug 😊💗

I have never put a blanket on a wet horse before. If it is cold out the blanket absorbs the wetness and can keep them chilled. I wait to wash mine when it is warm outside to do so.
the foor is thick rubber and Farouk is an excellent weight as the vet said and the blankets are special for wet horses
Why didn’t you dry them off
👍👍🐴
Tara, didn't you tell me you don't use shampoo on the boys? Gosh, the are gorgeous. Where Cheyenne lives, there is only cold water. I have to tie her to my trailer to get this done. It is Unfun. Have you ever tried using a hair dryer?? I have not. And I don't own any of those things they are wearing. Rugs??
You are so pretty. I love allll of the videos.
Tomorrow our weather here where we are, they are predicting freezing rain. Oh lovely. lol
Hugs sweet lady. I am sure they will call off our club ride. No one is goofy enough to ride in or on ice. My horse trailer has a flat tire so I would not go anyway.
Be safe and have a wonderful day.
I hardly ever use shampoo. Yes I can use a hair drier on Apollo but I only tried it on Farouk once he didn't like it.
At 13:28, Farouk the Yes Man.
Well it's taken us days to complete our body art & you've washed it off in minutes!!!
😂
I always see Friesian horses and wish I had one but.. I think the only reason I actually want one is to show off to the horse people around me 🤦♀️
😊👍

Not sure I understand about washing horses without soap on a cold, windy day and then putting them away in concrete floored stalls with no bedding!?! A good going over with a curry comb or dandy brush would suffice.
the stables have a thick rubber floor so no need for bedding. I use miscanthus for their wee spot. Plus the water is heated. Soap takes the natural oils out of a horses coat. Live and learn.
Umm how cold was it it looks cold Wich is not healthy for the horses was the after mice and hot
I like how that arabians face isnt shaped weirdly like most. I wish more looked like this one
Yes they are now getting to look like Sea Horses and that causes teeth problems
We will eventually concrete our wash rack too... but for now it is gravel and a couple of rubber mats...
Glad to see the concrete was done right the second time.
How cold was it that day?
We only have cold water at the rack so my young lad has to make do with brushing and a damp sponge in winter. It isn't so bad as he is on sand, so even when he rolls its pretty easy to brush off.
We do have a propane 'on demand' heater in the tackroom, which, if I beefed up the tap on the sink, could be used to run hot water to the wash rack, maybe once the concreting is done... 🙂
It sounds like you are near a busy road too.
Hot water for washing horses is bliss, I am glad we made the investment 😊
That's not fair Tara, neither one of the boys got to vote on bath or no bath! Poor Ikie just ran before "mom gets any idea about me" Nice to hear the birds chirping in the background. It's cold, snowing and windy here in Michigan. Thanks for another great video!♥️🐴🤗
we don't run a democracy at the stable lol 😂
I like the video but there is a few things that I am off with here. First hoseing the face is a no no on most horses. Obviously the bay one was a little bit nervous when you was close to his ears and on his face. You should of at least told him it was okay and gave him a small break.
If you look properly, you will see that he is not at all worried by what I am doing. I always sponge around the eyes and ears
These poor horses are probably FREEZING to death
stupid comment
@@Tara101 what's the temperature you washed them in?
I am also unhappy that when the black one started to move forward a little bit you moved infront and sprayed him with water aggressively. This can make a horse be fearful of water depending on what their age is as younger horses tend to get more frightened then older ones. Just please be careful with what you do and also learn a bit more and how to do things correctly.
There are hundreds of videos of our guys on UA-cam . If you would take the effort to have a look, you might not be so judgemental, Rens
1:45 this horse is underweight
no he is not, grow up
