Turkish lentil soup or Mercimek çorbası is a staple of Turkish cuisine where red lentils are simmered in a tasty broth with veggies and warm spices.
Turkish red lentil soup is easy to make in 30 minutes and one pot. It has a smooth and comforting texture and a warm and soothing flavor, with a hint of tanginess from the fresh lemon juice.
INGREDIENTS:
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
1 large onion chopped
2 carrots chopped
1 rib celery chopped
3 cloves garlic minced or grated
1 teaspoon ground cumin
2 tablespoons tomato paste
2 medium potatoes peeled and cut into small pieces
8 cups (2 liters) vegetable broth, add 4 cups at a time if your pot is not big enough
2 cups (400 grams) split red lentils dried, not canned
1½ teaspoons salt
2 twists of black pepper
1 lemon cut into wedges
1 handful flat-leaf parsley chopped
SERVES WELL WITH
pita bread
chili oil made with 1 clove of garlic, 1 teaspoon of red pepper flakes, and 4 tablespoons of olive oil

All your meals are deliciously healthy & simple .Thank you ✨🙏🌼
I love turkish lentil soup. It‘s so delicious 😋❤️
I’m Turkish and this is definitely not the way we do it but respect everyone’s preferences.
The original one is rinsed lentil with roughly chopped garlic and little bit of flour. Sauté those until you get the flour smell out. Add your salt and turmeric and choice liquid(chicken broth, water etc). After cooked blend it all and Enjoy!!

Turkish here. Too thick, my friend. Need soupy consistency. But to each his own 🥰 Enjoy.
This is how we make lentils in America. This is not even Turkish Americans do it and Indians and Moroccans all over the world
@@Ed.G Red Lentil (Lens culinaris L.) was first grown in southwest Asia around 7,000 BCE in the area that is now southern Turkey and northern Syria.
@@Ed.G and I commented on the consistency. He made a dip but called it Turkish soup.
I agree it should have more broth to it like chorba does
It’s how you like it people, you want it thin, add more broth, if not, leave it alone sheesh 🙄

Best soup ❤
There is a Turkish restaurant near my house, and I’m addicted to their lentil soup so I’ve been googling lentil soup recipes. I actually thought that Turkish Lentil Soup has some mint in it?
Yes that's easy
It's like desi dal that went to Greece and returned fancy
Mint and chili peppers go very well. Signature is a Turk 😊
Love your ‘easy right?’ ❤
Making it now! I'll add a lil extra liquid for a more creamy soup. Thank you for sharing.
Oh yum!! Looks so good
I am making this today
when you like turkish lentis soup, what is the best... try Menemen, turkish scrambled eggs.
That looks sensational
Beautiful!
Looks nice !
i like it
Lovely
Mr Delish! Long time no see. Looks 😋
🧑🍳 making that today! 🤤
My Iranian friend taught me to make it exactly the same but no cumin or red pepper flakes, rather, add a heaping tablespoon of curry powder and optionally some coconut milk before boiling. I love it both ways and love how inexpensive it is!
that is good
Can you please show us how to make lentil TOFU!!! Love from Australia 🦘
Thanks bro
I love it ❤
Looks delicious agsin😊
Is your pan ceramic or coated cast iron? I love it and went looking for some in the shop, assuming it was ceramic, but there was only cast iron available, so I wasn't sure.
he forgot to SMILE showing all his teeth while saying "easy right ???"
Can I omit the potatoes and the oil at the end?
❤
❤❤yum
Yummmm!!
🅰️Ⓜ️💛Z1️⃣NG‼️💛💛💛
Hmm u can put lentils in pressure cooker and give up to 5 whistles no need of blender the lentils become so soft that we can mash with ladle 🙂
OMG!
“Ezogelin çorbası” 🤌🏼👌🏼
Biz bu kadar koyu yapmayız çorbayı ve maydonoz konmaz üstüne ayrıca kereviz de olmaz içinde limonu da tabağına isteyen sıkar
😂
I missed the smile at the end!
I missed the "Easy, right?"
Damn that shit look good I’m gunna order some right now
🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺
This looks delicious! However, I don't have a bag on red lentils on hand, but I do have green split peas. Could I make this a pea soup?
Bezelye olmaz.sadece mercimekle yapilir
Hell no.
😋
I add cinnamon and paprika for more flavour 😊
Try it this way:
Instead of tomato paste, put 1 tomato
No celeri
For aroma, coriander and cumin. And in the end add dried mint
Trust me it's 1000 better!
Biraz katı olmuş.Sulandırman gerekir
You're 'easy, right?' was unconvincing this time 😂
You're missing out on mint. Celery is not authentic and can be left out (even less work). You wouldn't fry chilli peppers and garlic in oil to finish since it is traditionally served with turkish yogurt. Roasted dried chilli peppers and garlic in oil is traditional to serve with fried eggs and yogurt. Instead of parsley, try (turkish) mint, it's a whole different dish. (And it is onion - garlic - carrot/celery, not garlic after.)
All my muslim brothers and sisters in all corners of this earth are in my duaas 🤲🏻 may ALLAH give them victory, preserve, protect them and open doors for them 🤲🏻
لايد العالم والبلاد يهددوا المفتريين
فأين العالم الممثلين القذرة😂
all of these should be vegan like this 1. that way you can forwardly be a good person.
Can u use brown lentils ?
Yes just may take bit longer..
Better with more water 🔫🫠
What do you mean "celary"? It is nearly never used in Turkish cooking mate. We use celariac but never in the maner of French based Western culinary tradition. It needs to be greenish yellow by the way. As one Turkish once said; "it is the lentil soup, only thing it needs is red lentils". Just boil the lentils until mushy, add butter, salt and blend...that is it.
Did he say one pump meal? 🤔
In bangladesh, we call it dal
Is this Turkish or French?
Ye kaisi dal he 😮
You're killing me with the way you are using the blade of your knife to scrape the veggies off of your cutting board. Use the other side of the knife so you don't dull it.
Great meal . What's going on with the haircut??
Koyu olmuş. Biraz daha sıvı olması gerek
I doubt one can make it within 30 minutes.
Indian flavor yum
Way too thick bruh (I grew up in turkish household)
Its too thick, never seen a Lentil Soup like this. But still looks good anyways!
Celery was so hard to find when I lived in turkiye. Does NOT belong to this soup
Since when this is Turkish?
This is not Turkish Bro! It should be more plain and not thick! No celery at all!!

Why you called Turkish, it came originally from Syria
It's actually Egyptian, goes back to Pharaohs too
Lol it's also Iraqi. Seems like one of those dishes that were popular in the Ottoman empire.
Almost Indian until it was made a pureee
yes definitely not Turkish tho
This not a lentil soup. You are basteredizing the recepie. It is not a Turkish one. Apologize....
It is KURDISH absolutly not turkish.
looks good but isn't lentils acidic and potatoes high in carbonic acid
This is not Turkish style at all. Very good attempt though.
Why you cnt write the recipe? Your a selfish chef😂😂😂
