I wonder what would happen if this dude looked at different behaviours and diets etc. I suspect that those that lost respect for him, would find it again if he did hard shit.

    Mark I started taking mounjaro after watching your video on it (having had it suggested to me randomly that day by a friend). I was so frustrated with my weight gain having previously been very active before kids. I have a sedentary job. I never realised I had similar eating compulsions until I listened to you. I’ve been on mounjaro 8 weeks. I’ve lost 10kg and a few %body fat. Feel so much better and it’s hammered home how much food noise I had now it’s been turned off. I really like the calm I now have.
    We are all different. We all have our own circumstances. We have our own compulsions. We all know we should “eat less and exercise more”
    But eating less when your brain is screaming at you to eat more is hard when you need to sustain that for months on end. Some may have “lost respect” for you. But some of us are relieved to see we aren’t alone with our own issues and there is someone out there who isn’t afraid to give their own experiences and options.

    I have dropped 3 stone on mounjaro and it’s transformed my life. This has not just been a physical change, but also mental improvement. My relationship with food, and specifically sugar and “fast carbs” has completely changed. I have been off mounjaro for 6-months and I am gaining muscle at pace with good strength training. Above all I have learned that it’s best to tailor the approach to mounjaro, fat loss and muscle maintenance and growth to your own physical and mental state. I tracked my data daily to Hold myself to account and kept a food diary. I tapered off mounjaro from 15mg down to 5mg then came off completely. I have very bad arthritis so cardio is a challenge for weight loss/management, mounjaro gave me the head start on fat loss and now allows me to manage my calories with lean muscle gain and still no hard cardio. Love the honesty in your video and how you make it normal for men to talk about weight loss medicines.

      @ncw8954 Місяць тому

      @@beccafranklin6683 I have gone from taking 800-1200mg of ibuprofen per day to none. It’s been 3 months since I have needed to routinely take painkillers. I occasionally need to after standing for a long time at a gig or something but otherwise, it’s made a massive difference.

    • @ncw8954
      @ncw8954 Місяць тому +1

      @@stevejhkhfda I benefited from 2.5mg onwards. Tiredness got better over time. Nausea and other mild symptoms kicked in at 7.5mg. 10-15mg was challenging and you had to make sure to eat. TBH for me I wish I’d stayed on 7.5mg and taken longer to lose weight. But honestly it’s different for everyone and not everyone responds the same. Take your time, listen to your body and keep up the dialogue with your prescriber. Mine were great for me and I had a number of exchanges with my physician when I had concerns.

    If "just" was the answer...
    "Just" spend less money than you make
    "Just" eat less calories than you burn
    Then we'd all be billionaires with six packs.
    But we aren't, so something else is in play.
    If you're getting on in years and following all the advice and still getting worse, it's OK to get help. When it's threatening your lifespan, it's a responsible choice available to you.
    I trust your content Mark. Your intelligent wit also makes you a great communicator. The way you described the monkey chatter hit the mark for me.
    Since that fist video I'm on the Mounjaro a month, and fat loss aside, the immediate impact has been the quiet mind in certain (most) situations.
    I didn't know I could feel like this. Is this how "normal" eating people feel? It must be. It's such a relief not having this constant noise and humiliating sharking around the buffet, gas station, cereal cupboard.
    "Thank you Mark." - that one is from my 4 kids, who want their dad around longer... without the suffering...
    For Mark's critics... If you're in decent shape, do the weekend middle-aged lycra fest and and have your diet dialled in, but live on fixed income salaried job contemplating whether to save the money on speedy boarding option for your family, then don't offer advice like "Just" eat less calories than you burn.
    'cos you don't have the powerful mind control you think you have. But congrats on your physique, Im happy for you on that one.

      All of the above are facts, of which you cannot possibly agree or disagree with, because you know nothing of my life. Health and wealth in whichever way you measure it - and a happy new year... whoever you are.

      This is an interesting example of the profound impact Mark has on his audiences lives. This guy watched a video with Mark Lewis where he said he was on a pharmaceutical and then proceeded to go get on that pharmaceutical. Maybe you need the fat jab. You probably do. Many millions of peoples lives could be improved by being on the fat jab but a society of skinny people on fat jab is still not as good as a population of healthy people without any pharmaceutical intervention. It seems like the fat jab has a psychological effect on the desire to eat. It seems like fat people have a difficult time regulating this impulse. If fat people can avoid one of the negative externalities of this inability to submit to their impulses, they will not be forced to find a way to control this impulse by their own free will (the pro pharma crowd would respond by saying they would never be able to control it regardless so at least in this situation, they wont be fat and they might be correct). Its a complicated subject but I am fairly certain the best way to live is healthy, without pharmaceutical intervention.

      By saying "just" eat less than you burn, you're making a mockery of the effort that people put in to achieve that. No one said it was easy. No one finds it easy.

    • @davidr1431
      @davidr1431 4 дні тому

      There are definitely people who throw the word “just” or “simply” in front of a suggestion that we have tried and failed at many times. They have no idea what food addiction can do to you.
      For those who don’t have a food addiction and can exercise discipline in their food and exercise habits and get results that way, that doesn’t mean they find it easy. It is just hard in its own way.
      But they are not the ones who say “just do as I do”.
      That’s a special subset of people who have never failed at anything.

    I'm all for it! I ordered Mounjaro yesterday for delivery today. I lost a lot of weight last year for an event, but over time, my weight has slowly crept back on. I struggle with food - the urge to eat when I'm hungry, and sometimes even when I'm not. It feels like I'm not always in control of what I eat, and managing it can be hard work.
    I'm 48yrs old I train regularly - cycling and weightlifting - but keeping my food consistent, counting calories, and watching everything I eat can get exhausting. My goal is to get my weight back down from 93 kg to 83-80 kg. When my eating is off track, my weight can fluctuate by as much as 4 kg!
    I'm curious to see how Mounjaro helps, especially with quieting the constant "food noise" and curbing late-night eating. And obviously I don not want to be on it forever so will watch your journey with interest. Greta videos very informative compared to the crap out there!

I'm now 7 weeks on it. 12.4kg off. A long way to go (I'm a big fella) The food noise has gone for the majority of the week and when it vaguely does come back, my good habits of eating protein first or at the very least fruit, means I still maintain consistency. I'd like to say I'm the inspiration but frankly you were. I'll keep you updated on my journey. Thanks a lot.

I too suffer from intense cravings especially of the sweet kind and have put on too much weight over the past few years. Even cycling for over an hour each day and more on the weekend hasn’t helped. It’s all about the food! I’m conflicted slightly taking this medicine but also elated by it because it truly works. I have zero food cravings now which has made me calmer but also feel so much better and healthier. This is one of those drugs that triggers some people but who give a toss about those that only see things in black and white with no empathy or full understanding of what others have tried to get healthy.

    Mark, I really like your content. it's straight talking and to-the-point sense. So thanks for documenting not only your fitness journey (rollercoaster?) but also your TRT and weight loss efforts too. As an overweight man barrelling towards my mid forties myself, I've found it increasingly hard to lose weight. It's as if everything's stacked against you; time for exercise is harder to come by, motivation for exercise is harder to keep alive, excess fat is harder to shift, and processed food is cheaper and easier to buy, not to mention designed to be tastier and more satisfying (in the short term at least) than fresh nutrient dense food. So it's really interesting for me to see the struggles of someone in a similar position and what they're doing about it. I've got no problem with someone taking advantage of modern research and drugs to better themselves, in fact I think it's an unreasonable position not to. You wouldn't not have chemotherapy for a cancer diagnoses (if prescribed obviously) because "it's that mentality keeping you weak", so why wouldn't you take a drug to prevent a condition which is directly linked to millions (yes millions, I looked it up) of deaths a year? Good work Mark. And thanks for cementing my decision to NEVER MOVE HOUSE!!

Long story short, until I was ill I was very active and strong, then cancer treatment knocked me off my feet. Felt sick a lot so slept through it, then at night I couldn't sleep so decided to gorge to make myself feel sick in order to sleep. Worked for a couple of years but would have to eat more, then couldn't break the habit, I didn't even know I was doing it until the next morning with things around me. That's stopped now, so thank you xx

    Another great, honest and frank video!
    I completely agree that the biggie was for me was killing the food noise. Was ALWAYS hungry before taking this.
    I'm over 9 stone down now on Mounjaro (11 months) and just entered the "health" BMI range.
    Now, can just eat when I know I should and appreciate the treats more when I have them :-)

    Just wanted to say a couple things. First off, THANKS! I recently stumbled upon your channel and I quickly got a bit hooked, and that's certainly not a bad thing. Secondly, I'm a recently-retired dude that's about 10 yrs older than you, and the fact that you're not 23 and are doing these amazing things, gives me inspiration to do my version of them at just a decade or so later. Thirdly, I'm a big fan of bicycles and cycling and I "bonded extra hard" after watching your cycling video comparing your Diverge (great bike btw!) and a cheap alternative. (I should probably work on my "cycle acquisition addiction, but that can wait) Lastly, besides the "man crush", I think I have a more real crush on your charming wife. You guys are a pretty cute couple, and my wife certainly agrees. Love your work, thanks again.

    Really appreciate you always being honest about what you're doing and why, as well as what results it has. No idea why there's people who "lost respect" towards you based on a *personal* choice you made to help you deal with disordered eating (as well as sate your curiosity - and ours - about how these "fat jabs" work). I'm morbidly obese and have been for most of my life, but have been doing better in the past month or so with exercising. I've certainly considered a fat jab like mounjaro or ozempic, but I'm a bit more risk-averse and am too afraid of possible side effects. I also don't have disordered eating (just a slight issue with overindulging on snacks due to ADHD), so I prefer to give the regular diet + exercise a go again, this time in a more moderate and sustainable way than the previous yo-yo diets. Thanks for the videos, they certainly are inspiring for me at least!

    Thanks Mark. Someone close to me was inspired by your initial video to go on the jabs and it's doing him loads of good. His head is better, he's back on his bike, the pounds are dropping. I was initially skeptical, but your experience, and that of my family member, has completely changed my mind.

    Im a dad of two very young children, i work full time and right now get very little sleep (teething). I have erratic time available for the gym and diet goes all over the place regularly. My weight has jumped in the last 3 years to 105kg. your last videos on this subject made me look into and start the jabs in conjunction with the gym (as i can). I am now down 10kg, my energy levels are higher with similar amounts of low sleep, my lifting weights and amounts have remained the same, was hard at the start but balanced after 3 weeks, but now i have absolute control over what i eat after 6 weeks. Thank you, this has genuinely changed things for me. Also over christmas i enjoyed what i wanted just in much smaller amounts and my weight stayed stable for the last week. Ignore the hate.

    Thank You Mark, Your video journey is inspiring. I recently was assessed as Type 2 Diabetic, since then I have switched my lifestyle to No Sugar and No Grain diet (NSNG) which has brought my weight down. I too suffer from the disorderly eating, and I have it mostly under control. I have been approved for Mounjaro, and will probably start it in the new year and hopefully maintain the low dose and taper off after a few months. The hair clipper segment was hilarious. Keep up the good work.

    The current plan seems to be working well and I know you will always challenge yourself to move and set athletic goals. I worry though that this current programme might discourage viewers who have been inspired by you and found a new athlete inside themselves that they never knew existed (maybe a little like you did).

    I’m about a week behind you. Haven’t done Dexa-Scan but carried on training heavy three times a week plus walking and the bike. And although I’m suffering pretty grim side effects 4-5 days of nausea and varying viscosity of number 2S it’s made a huge difference how I think about food. I’ve stuck to the lower dose. Had quite a lot of negative feedback from friends and family, but I’ve solved that by fecking them out of it this Christmas. I’m doing it with a co worker who I train with and we are determined to get to a sustainable weight. We both have kept protein levels up and both had some good PBs with the plates. And surprisingly my bike time hasn’t suffered either. Started with Wegovy and changed to Manjouro. Probably going to change back to Wegovy because I wasn’t getting nausea either that month 1.
    Been dropping around a kilo a week consistently. Put 10kg on bench and 20kg on deadlift
    Happy Days 🤘👊

      @ oh just that maybe I should just try harder to lose weight. Do you mean the celebrity weight loss jab. The thing is I literally don’t watch telly. And the relatives lecturing me on my lack of application are fat basterds anyway!! Something resonatesd for me in the way Mark talked about the reasoning for using it. Everyone’s story will be different. I’ve probably been through 5 overweight periods in my life they usually last around 7 years. I’m at the age where time isn’t on my side. So instead of waiting for my brain to switch over from not over eating my way out of problems. I thought I’ll not wait for my boat to come in, I’ll swim out and hoist the mizzen sail and ride that wave in 😉

    On the same for 3 months now. Have lost 13 pounds, but mostly have lost the food noise. No binge eating during the holidays! No bad side effects, but stayed between 2.5 mg and 4 mg max. I have about 5 pounds to go, then plan to reduce back to 2.5 mg. The loss of the food noise makes me want to continue this in maintenance mode, but will have to see if the effects sustain. Thank you for being so candid. I am about to start on a weight lifting routine, but as a 60 year old woman, I'll be careful with that. I am very active and take care of and ride horses almost every day, but isolating muscles for specific exercises to maintain bone density, etc is my next goal.
