There was apparently some sort of old Catholic law that stated that marriage between a man with his brothers widow was illegal. A large portion of their population was Muslim, so they were able to draw on them to fight the Pope for the right of the secular authority to appoint bishops. It's weird. I'm Irish we learned a lot of history. Irish history, some British history, world wars, reformation, Romans, industrial and french revolution, even some American history but no one had ever mentioned Napoleon.
In France our history lessons (Since the reform that happened at the start of the 2010's) are those :

2->Political system of Ancient Athens and Roman Republic

4->French revolution (Only from 1789 to 1795)
