  • Come along as we travel the 110 km (68 mile) French River from its’ Headwater at Lake Nipissing to its mouth where it spills into Georgian Bay, part of Canada’s Great Lakes. This is the same river that French Voyageur, Samuel de Champlain paddled over 400 years ago to discover Huronia and on to what is now Toronto. The Ojibwa Nation named the river because it brought the French to their land. Now a mecca for backcountry explorers and sportsmen, what then took days by canoe, you will enjoy in minutes.

Hew Mathew, thanks for your kind words. I always welcome fellow float pilots to join me on an adventure. If you give me an email address or number I can text, we can share our coordinates.

Beautiful! But I would rather just listen to the wind and plane . Then I could be there and not some medication workshop . 😅

Wow! This is some of the most beautiful flying I've seen - and my faves are usually the south island of NZ. Thank goodness for GPS hu? BTW - I am similarly mounting an Insta360. Do you think it would be dangerous to extend beyond the prop arch? I'd love to get vid from in front of the plane. Cheers!

Hey thanks. I originally had the Insta360 on an 8' selfie stick (1" diameter aluminum) which was recommended and put it ahead of the prop, no aerodynamic issue that I saw. That's definitely the better vantage point. Prombem was the stick was not sturdy enough to prevent the camera from bobbing up and down. Sometime I will try again with a 1.5" D stick.

Be sure to mount the selfie with proper brackets near where the struts meet the wing or close to the jury struts so you don't overstress the struts. Have a competent person inspect before flight.

Do you ever fly to the north Bay Area?

I have family in Sturgeon Falls so I usually fly there a couple times a year. Not so much to North Bay though.
