I enjoyed the movie overall but it was confusing as hell. It didn’t help that a lot of the dialogue was too fast or too low to understand. I was able to piece together a few things but most of it went over my head, I thought it was just me😆 I’m definitely going to watch it a few more times.
When you figure out how the Inverted parts work, it will blow your mind in a positive way. Also, check for the Sator Square Easter eggs in the film. S A T O R A R E P O T E N E T O P E R A R O T A S
Hmm, I didn't think the movie was that confusing at all. But I can understand why a lot of people do. I mean.. they explain how everything works right in the beginning, then they immediately GO IN on it throughout the rest of the movie. They don't really give you time to digest it. So if you didn't fully understand right at the start, you'll be confused or behind for a majority of the movie. In my theatre, a guy showed up like 20 minutes into the movie and I remember thinking to myself, "This man just wasted his money, he bout to be LOST." I thought they might explain it again as more characters got introduced, but they never really did. They just kept adding concepts on top of it. It was a pretty good movie to me personally, although I agree it'll probably be better on the 2nd watch.
This movie made me doubt my intelligence. It was trying to do too much. It was visually beautiful. But combining the terrible audio and way too complicated plot. And I wanted to like it. I saw it twice and its a no for me. 5 out of 10 stars. Next time Nolan should do the next 007 movie.
The sound mixing definitely made the movie hard to digest. I think if we heard the characters better I think more people would understand it and like it more.
Hey Tony glad the reviews are back. Give us a review on the re-up watch. I'd be interested in a second viewing review. It'll be interesting to see if your opinions have changed, or if you understand the movie better.
Uuummmm everyone who i know who went were the only people in th theater. I went and there were only two other people. And you can check the seating online. Don't be afraid. And also no pressure, but go see it in theaters if you really want to.
Seemed like Washington was saying his lines fast so all the tech talk seemed legit. Like his character uploaded this new info like Neo and that's all he needed to move on, he was good to go.
You are so correct about practical effects having that impact. I still can't forget the transformation scene in American Werewolf in London that I watched as a child.
Welcome back, I liked Branagh and Emma Thompson in Dead Again. He's a good actor and director. Top 5, Nolan movies: 1. Memento 2. The Prestige 3. Inception 4. Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises (it's a trilogy, like star wars) 5. ...
Spot on review, Tony Baker! I haven't been that confused at a movie in a long, long time, but I wasn't upset about it. I saw it with my sister, who is a graduate of USC Film School and even SHE was a bit lost. A good film, nonetheless. 4 🎷 is solid. Good to see you're back at it!
Tony, welcome back. I too, stepped out to see TENET as my return to the theaters. I can appreciate that you would admit to being confused, as I was too, at the end of the film. At "curtain call", I made my way to the parking lot, my mind going over as much information as I could remember. I had questions on the ending that I had to get answers to. And I hoped you had done a review. Thanks for this one. I look forward to a review complete with spoilers at a later date. In TENET world, this comment was made before your review, and should be read backwards.
Real talk I went to see it twice. First time I was so confused, I slept through most of it 😴🤤. Went back the next day, I nodded off once but I really enjoyed it lol. I like Christopher Nolan movies because the stories aren't so straightforward. My top 4 (excluding the Dark Knight series) are: (1) The Prestige, (2) Interstellar, (3) Inception, (4) Memento
Yesss!! We've all been waiting for this series to come back!!! I barely even watch any of these movies, but your reviews are always so entertaining and comical and def make me want to watch the movie!! Can't wait to see more reviews! 🎷🎷🎷🎷🎷
The cinematography was excellent!!! Acting was on point. I'm now a John David Washington fan! Buuuuuuut I will need to watch it approximately 4 more times to understand exactly lol!! Man it was exciting the whole way through, and I watched it in 4DX so it was a hell of a ride! Overall- I thoroughly enjoyed this movie!
Great to see you back, Tony! Your review and sax ranking of this film is spot on. The film had a great story and actors, solid practical effects, and definitely had that James Bond film vibe, it was definitely entertaining... but also extremely confusing!
Yaaasss😁😁😁I've missed Tony Baker movie reviews😕 so glad you are back!😂😂 I've been wanting to see this movie but still haven't managed to get to the theater but after your 4 saxaphone review im going to make an effort to see it
1. Prestige - when I saw this movie, I watched it probably 10 to 15 within that year. I loved it. I'm also a huge fan of Hugh Jackman. That movie had me guessing what happened til the end, and I love movies like that because I've studied only a little bit of film and foreshadowing. So, I can tell how a movie or sometimes a tv show season is gonna play out or who's gonna die within the first 5 to 10 minutes or the first episode, which my boyfriend gets annoyed when I do and it's correct lol
This movie was bomb. I needed subtitles because the background music often muddled the audio of the conversations. Obviously it was confusing but missing key parts of conversations was tough. Still going to go back and watch it like 50 leven times doh. 5 stars for me.
Tony you hit the nail on the head. When I went to see it I was with friends. And we actually laughed through the whole movie because we couldn't keep up. At one point I wanted to stand up and Holler out"Does anyone know what the F@$k is Going on!!" But the action and beauty of the film was great! It was a good time for our first time back in a theater. And he would make a sharp Black 007 for sure😁🎥
YAAAAAAAY!!!! 🎵Look at who I came to see🎵 Thank you for coming back! Please review things on Netflix & Prime! Jamie Foxx had a movie release on Netflix
1.Glad your back Ton 2.PLEASES PLEASE REVIEW ANTEBELLUM TONY!!!!!!!! 3. Denzel son said that Christopher Nolan Ran A Real 747Plane into that hanger in the movie!!
Yes!! Practical effects team right here!! I just watched The Thing for the first time!! Also Fright Night is one of my faves. It's cheesey, but I love it!!
Definitely confusing. Anytime something was explained to John David Washington he understood it immediately, which puts you in a tough spot. I'm like "wait what", but JDW is like "ok cool I got it" lol but loved the movie
Thumbed up before the opening credit as a fellow movie junkie I am happy to see this man back doing what he does best.(well one of the things)👏👏👏 lets go!
Great review! Top 5 Nolan films for me 1. Dark knight, 2. Memento, 3. Batman begins, 4. Interstellar. 5. The prestige. Also I would love to see your review on the boys. I’m sure it would be hilarious.
I kept thinking Kenneth looked like bad guy from Bad Boys 1. It reminded me of looper, oceans 11, with a cliff hanger. And remember He's the protagonist.
Just finished the movie, and came straight here!! lol Luckily I watched it online, is I was able to pause and rewind, to catch everything. Everyone performed well!
Elizabeth Debicki is also great in the limited series "The Night Manager" You see that sane power dynamic in that series and I feel that role lead directly to her being in TENET. You should check that out!
You haven't seen Lighthouse? Robert convinced me, there. He's incredibly well rounded as an actor. But, the writing and directing might be average for the new Batman film. Hopefully not.
Awwwwww yeahhhhhhhh...Christopher Nolan brought Tony out of retirement.
Thats power
The thumbnail got me dying of laughter 😂😂😂😂😂

I enjoyed the movie overall but it was confusing as hell. It didn’t help that a lot of the dialogue was too fast or too low to understand. I was able to piece together a few things but most of it went over my head, I thought it was just me😆 I’m definitely going to watch it a few more times.
The sound mixing with the dialogue was poor. Playing the music too loud over crucial dialogue kinda ruined it. So you definitely weren’t alone haha
same thing for me...is confusing i knew i was lost toward beginning jst peiced together what i could and that endeding batle i was like huh

I haven't watched it yet, but I just thought "I miss Tony Baker's movie reviews so much!"
Ditto!! I will not be going to the movie theater anytime soon so I don’t care about spoilers..
He’s back! I know I wasn’t the only one waiting for these episodes again.
Let's go bro we need u out here in these movie streets
😂
Ayyy this was a pleasant surprise. Glad your back!
☺️
I felt that way about Inception. There were so many rules in that movie it became homework.
Same.
Inception is so simple. That shit is easy to understand
@@jaydell4039 Yep. Tenet was like watching all of Back To The Future in one movie backwards.
Inception is highschool and tenet is college then lol
@@jaydell4039 I felt that way about Tenet lol it goes both ways
Top 5 Chris Nolan Movies!
1. The Prestige
2. Batman Begin
3. Inception
4. The Dark Knight
5. Interstellar
Ya prestige was dope. Then inception because it really takes your mind on a trip.
Nice five!! 4/5 of those are in my 5. I might take Begin out and add Memento somewhere in my personal Nolan 5.
After seeing this, I determined, Inception was the 101 course and Tenet was the 500 course. Washington was a sick black James Bond!
Hmm, I didn't think the movie was that confusing at all. But I can understand why a lot of people do.

same, overall I got the gist and plans so I wasn't too confused just missed out on a lot of details
I cackled when you mentioned the guy being twenty minutes late. He genuinely did waste his time and money.
Was it entertaining though?
@@kmc1994 yes very entertaining.
I wasn't really confused either. Like others, I'm sure I missed the many little details, but I followed the gist of the story.
Elizabeth Debicki was *not* in Hustlers. That was the woman from Riverdale. Debicki was in Widows.
Yes! Widows. When he said Hustlers I was thinking Widows. Haven't actually seen Hustlers
My exact feelings. I feel like i'm a pretty smart guy but this one flew over my head.
Agreed
I literally thought the same thing
I walked out the movie and people was falling asleep in the movie
The sound mixing definitely made the movie hard to digest. I think if we heard the characters better I think more people would understand it and like it more.

The Prestige is my top film
Christopher Nolan is my fav director but ever since Dark Knight Rises I feel he is too focused on spectacle and not enough on storytelling.
I haven’t even seen Tenet.
And I won’t go to a covid aquarium to see Tenet.
However!!
I’m just happy to see Tony’s movie reviews are back.

I agree on the CGI vs practical effect tip. Other than my super hero flicks. I want to see Thanos vs Thor and all that CGI greatness.
This gives us hope to still go out an watch movies lol
