In this video, Dr. Raghavendran L. talks about the role of genomics in agriculture. In addition to the familiar omics, like Genomics, Transcriptomics, Metagenomics, Proteomics, and Metabolomics there are a couple of omics we don't often hear about.
So, one of them is Volatilomics which is considered a subset of metabolomics that comprehensively characterizes profiling of high vapor pressure that can be released from the plants. This becomes very important in the event of stress or in the event of other natural situations for which the plants have different signatures of Volatilomics compared to the ordinary volatilities signature.
Multiomics is a new approach where the data sets of different omic groups are combined during analysis. The different omic strategies employed during multi-omics are genome, proteome, transcriptome, epigenome, and microbiome.
