Blacksmith: My daughter's been kidnapped! Goblins took her up the Sinner's Path! Local wizard: Sorry. There's a raccoon in my closet. There's nothing I can do.
I wasn't convinced at the beginning, seemed like a lot of work for a hex. But the tables seems very good and it looks like for smaller adventure it can really be useful. Thanks for sharing.
I would say that thinking about it as a standard hex, yeah, its a lot of work, but thinking about it as a dungeon / location adventure - it doesn’t seem to take any longer than a standard build.
After a little effort, I created an Inspiration Pad Pro file to automate most of the rolls, freeing me to do the creative thinking. Have not used it at the table yet, but definitely full of very evocative ideas.
Man I keep coming back to the well with this one. Ive had the compliment that I run games like a living world, I would put that down to using OSR style content in my 5e games - your channel and this particular video is a constant source of inspiration. Thanks Daniel!
I don't think I need the whole procedure, but it gives me a good idea for a swamp adventure I'm planning. I was going to do hexes, but the PCs will likely not get more than a mile or two deep (low level), so a single 6-mi hex, with first major areas restricted to 2-3 1-mi 'zones' might work really well with the random trails and extra features to link it all up like a dungeon. Good stuff. 👍
This book is fantastic, I used it for my solo campaign and am now using aspects of it in my hexcrawl campaign. Just watch out for the weald siren, I’ve seen too many heroes become dinner!
I am not too adventurous with game aids, so videos like this really expose a wealth of things to try that I normally would not. I love the format of the world building process and content therein. Awesome charts---I also love charts! These are great videos; keep them coming. This wilderness designing looks like it could combine perfectly with B/X styled play. Admittedly, it would be fasinating to see the game play of this too. Covering the whole process from conception and creation, to actual play.
Great video, I really like seeing some other tools used for generation other than the usual stuff. You should do more like this, trying different dungeon/adventure generators.
Wow just found this channel- watched a few videos and I was like, WAIT! We played Dungeons and Dragons together I think at Gary Con! You were the hobbit with the mule! haha The Lost Dungeon of Tonisborg! Cheers!
Would you say this book is a game in itself, like has procedures for solo play? or is it more of a design book for gm's - if it's not a game, are there any games that use this kind of system?
Really interesting, by the end I was thinking what a great way to detail the local area around a home town, with a view to playing on a much more localised scale. I also started to look at several of the sites as adventure locations and it reminded me of how the game Beyond the Wall works when using the collaborative character gen rules. I might have to buy this, looks good fun. Did you play this out at all? I would be really interested to see how that went, even if it is an update vid of you talking through what happened? Excellent stuff.
Bane Ace is my new Fav for In the Company of Delvers - Bane Ace: Settle a few scores within your cohort ranks, establishing a pecking order through boxing with cestus weighted gloves. Fail and lose half your Discipline Tally; none suffer vicious. Regardless, gain Trait Constitution and invest any and all Discipline Tally converted into Minions Swaggering. Difficulty: 8 Advantage: Any Eye Swagger
Why are the hexes flat top within flat top? If you alternative the hex to have the opposite within, it fits nearly perfectly. No half hexes at all. So flat top world map would have pointy top dungeon map.
Very interesting stuff, but I think I had a hard time following how this really all comes together and is implemented. It would be great to see this in action.
I'm doing a Spelljammer campaign with OSE and anytime the players have been in wilderness I've been just using the dungeon exploration rules, complete with 10' squares
When you rolled the special trails right away since thought of The Ways from The Wheel of Time, like maybe a ruined portion of an old network leading to other similar ruins

the about sums it up lol
If I had a sp for every time I heard that ...

@@zarlack8759can you explain more how this works? This sounds like something i need, where i can work well with making new ideas from rolls

Cool, thanks! Swamps can be great locations.
These video explorations are the next best thing to playing game, thanks again Daniel!
cool, thanks!

🙌🏻🙌🏻
Wow looks good! I might have to check out this book and add it to my toolkit.
we are having fun with it
Yes mate, Daniel has cost me a small fortune in "wow, that's interesting" purchases lol
Glad I got to say hi at GaryCon! I was the guy who said hey when you were leaving the Forum on Thursday afternoon
Hey! Hope you had a great con. I’ll be at GenCon if you plan to attend.
@@BanditsKeep I am planning on it, hope to run into you again!
Was really happy to see this video! I had kickstarted "Into the Wyrd and Wild" and it is cool to see it in action!
Cool!

SO many great tools out there, I’ve had this book for several year and I regret not digging into it sooner
@@BanditsKeep I'm so glad you did, and so glad you made the video. Such cool stuff!
So it is like a Point Crawl embedded within a Hex?
Looks suitable for Dense terrain areas or broken lands and rolling hills and mountain valleys
Yes!
Thanks for this walk-through. This seems like a really useful system.
Thanks for watching
I'm getting ideas just listening to this.
Good Work
Awesome
you know I have had this for over a year and never had a game to use it in, so it has just sat on my hard drive. Thanks for the demo.
I feel the same - using it now though!
Please. Would love to see this live.
🙌🏻🙌🏻
bro this is my new fav channel
Thanks I appreciate that
Great video, I really like seeing some other tools used for generation other than the usual stuff. You should do more like this, trying different dungeon/adventure generators.
Cool, I do like using different systems
That looks like a great resource. I may have to check out "Into the Wyrd and Wild".
Let me know if you put it to use

Hi, Daniel! What do you think of elves’ ability to detect secret doors operating similarly on the hidden trails of the Wyrd & Wild?
That’s how I would do it for sure

Thanks! I haven’t played this one yet - but if/when I do I shall report
This would be great for modern horror, like zombie apocalypse
That’s a good idea
A stump-sized abbey works, if it's just the altar!
Indeed
The real question is do I buy this book, or hold out for the 2nd edition release of it with additional content???
That’s a great question 😂 I of course already have it, so no holding out for me ☺️

I'll be honest, I just had it on my second screen and didn't listen. Sorry Bandit :[
