This helped so much i was looking for a long time for a tutorial thats helpfull, step by step and with someone who explains properly so once i found this it took me 30 minutes or so to do thanks a lot!! My dogs gonna love it!!
Ok ,I saw that you had four cords but when you flipped the end with the gathering knot you had six cords. Where did the extra two cords that you were making the square knots come from?
Thanks so much for your clear and efficient instructions. We've made both the macrame dog collar and lead for our little Border Collies 'Glory' and 'Cacao'. It was so easy. HIGHLY RECOMMEND it. Have a beautiful day Courtney. Love Sam and Jess (8THIRSTY)
@@zuzu4578 It's going great! I made one with standard twisted cotton and then with the more durable braided cotton, would definitely recommend the braided, it's only marginally more expensive.
Hi Tammy, the two ends of the buckle for the collar stay unclipped/seperate for the duration of the project. Let me know if you need any further assistance!
Yes you could definitely make the collar wider, you would just have to by a wider sized clip and then add additional 'filler' cords to the inside of the square knots to make the square knot thicker. I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions :)
Yes you could use 3mm cord and it wouldn’t effect it too much, although I haven’t tried it before! I imagine the buckle would need to be slightly smaller.
You only need 4 cords for the project - 2 cords cut to the length calculated at the start (custom to the size of your pet) and 2 cords at 50cm each to create the wrap knots at either end. I hope this helps and good luck with your project!
@@victoriarath9658 When you first attach your 2 long cords to create the collar, you first have to fold them as instructed and larks head them to the buckle, and then this created 4 working cords attached to the collar. Then, you feed all four cords through the other buckle piece. Once you have secured them in place with a wrap knot, you will end up with a total of 6 working cords. These are all created with the 2 cords cut at the beginning as instructed. If you try to make the collar and follow along step by step you will find it explains why there are 6 working cords. Hopefully this helps.

How well has the collar lasted you?

@@zuzu4578 I used good quality braided cord and so it still working, just a bit faded/dirty of course haha
Question - at about 7:30 you took that other half of the buckle off, yes?

@@KnotCalm Awesome, thank you! I knew I was missing something important haha
@@tammyjohnson02 happy to help! ☺️
Do you cut off the lark head knots. How do you get loose strands as they were both artached
Question - at about 11:00 you put the buckle half back on?
no, the two ends of the collar buckle stay apart until the collar is finished.
Great 😊 where do you source the components? Thanks
I got my clips from Etsy and my cord from a Melbourne based supplier called Industrial Yarns😊
Will 38mm D ring and buckle work? (Gus is such a handsome boy! I have a beagle girl 🐕)
Aw I bet your beagle is beautiful 😍 Yes you could use these as well, happy creating!
@@KnotCalm Thanks!!
Do you also have a pattern for a dog harness? That would be so great!
Sorry I don’t have that one yet, but I will endeavour to make a tutorial soon for that - great idea!
@@KnotCalm super great. I have a pup to be soon quite big 🤣 Like Mastin Espanol big and it would be a lovely to make a good harnas for her.
@@yoganna8432 how beautiful!! Your pup will look so lovely in their macrame accessories 😍
beatiful Collar. I want to make a wider collar, maybe 5 or 6 cm. Is there a way to do that?

Can you use 3mm braided cord as well? Would this impact the size buckle & length cord you need?

Bonjour,
Quelle largeur fait le collier ?
Hi
Can you tell me where I can buy the buckle clasp and D ring please.
I live in Australia.
Thank you.
I bought both a while ago from an Etsy supplier, I can’t recall the exact one sorry!
how would I convert cm to inches as I make regular dog collars in inches ~ thank you
Hi Renee, I would just find a converter using google 😊 good luck with your project!
Where do the 2 extra cords come into it? To make 6?

I agree with you, out of nowhere 2 extra cords appeared? Confusing !

... have I been saying macrame wrong for years?
I think it depends on where you are from! I know that American's pronounce it a little different to UK and Australia :)
Mac-rah-mie
Is what I say (UK)
Ma-cram-ay sounds wrong to me 😅
This was confusing when it becomes 6 cords instead of 4

And how do you do the square knots if both ends have buckle
@@kaitlynwilks7056 there are two ends you use to tie the square knots around the other cords which are attached to the buckles. See at minute 7:20
