Thank you for the instructions tried to follow them made my first dog lead .I have real bad rheumatoid arthritis in my hands so I made use of a fisherman’s mending needle helped me a lot.I will be doing more thank you so much. And
I can't wait to try this. I'm a bit confused though. I the tutorial, you instruct us to fold the cord in half. Later you tell us to fold the cords so that the outer cords are longer than the inner cords. I understand the reasoning, but where exactly should we fold the cords. I'm new to macrame. How long do the inner cords need to be? And, how long should the outer cords be? Thank you.
Hi Ellen, thanks for your comment and sorry for the confusion! You want your inside cord to be the length of your finished dog leash + handle, and the outside cords will be extra long. The outside cords will be the ones you create the knots with, while the inside ones will not be used and so will remain the same length. I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions 😊
Great video! Thanks for the explanations on each step too. I used 550 Paracord to make this (excluding the twist, since that looked a bit intimidating and I'm new to this kind of stuff) and it turned out great!
A very instructive video. It was a little difficult because I don't speak English, but I succeeded. I'm making it from macrame thread. I've just started. What should pet owners do if they want to clean them? Any ideas? Thank you.❤
Love this instructional, very easy to follow and the finished product looks and works great! I used standard 4mm cotton macrame cord, but I’m wondering if you can recommend a supplier of braided cotton cord, as I’d love to make another collar and lead with more durability?
Thanks for watching ☺️ glad your finished piece turned out great! I get all my string from a Melbourne based supplier called Industrial Yarns. They have lots of colours and great quality 🙌
Hi, I don't quite understand the calculation of the length of the thread. So if I have a leash that measures 150 cm, I have to calculate 150 x 6 and come up with 9 metres. So the threads will have to be 2 of 9 metres? Is this correct?
You can see at 00:57 in the video how I determine the measurement for the leash. You can make it to any lenght you desire based on your needs for your dog :) Make sure to check out the tutorial on the dog collar here: ua-cam.com/video/yNC3gqCfKAo/v-deo.html
Thanks so much! Yes you definitely could, you would end up with a colour pattern that looks like the matching dog collar I made in my other video! I hope that helps 😊
Thank you 😊 That will depend on how long you want your leash to be! The pattern is customisable so you can make it to the length to suit your own pet. The full string lengths are 6x the final length. You can find the explanation of the lengths at around the 1:00 minute mark of the video.
Yeah I definitely subscribe to your channel the second you said you just cut it off your old one because that's where I'm at my store brand ones keep snapping LOL so I got fit cord I was planning to use for a monstera hang up but instead we're going to improvise LOL
So I'm a beginner, I checked 3times the length of the cord before cut it, but I didn't checked it's 5mm. After the twist I ran out of working cord 😭 Was this because of the cord thickness? Thanks for your reply
Oh no! Yes the thickness of cord will change the length quite a bit unfortunately. Different thicknesses use more or less cord per square knot. Maybe you could try adding in some cord? Or having a shorter lead! Let me know if you have any other questions
Don't panic it happens to everyone at some point I'm convinced there is a way to add cord when you run out! I just watched one earlier let me know if you want the name of it
You were misled, the cord is fragile. I weaved it according to your tutorial, but after 3 walks with the dog, the leash was all stretched out and it was impossible to walk with it anymore, I threw it away.
Sorry to hear that! Unfortunately there is a huge variety of cord qualities and so some braided cord can end up being poor quality and not last long. It is always best to buy the best quality products you can find if you want things to last long term ☺️ my dog lead lasted years!
I have tried over and over, but I cant manage to make it straight. It twist over.... Strange, because the first 6-7 cm was fine. Have tried to put the clip near the end in order to keep it straight, but doesn't help. Out of ideas now...😢
Sorry to hear you are having trouble, that is strange! What exactly do you mean by straight? Make sure you are creating a full square knot instead of a spiral knot. You can email a photo of your work to knotcalm@gmail.com and I can try and help, but it is hard to say what the problem is without looking at it sorry.
So, I’m at point where middle cords are 50cm & the outside cords are 600cm??? ! I have to start the handle now; can’t figure out why the outside cords so long compared to inner cords? My leash I want is 150cm long so I cut 150X6 cm so where did I go wrong? I’m using braided cord 3 mm
Hi Lori, that is strange! Are you using your longer cords to knot with on the outside? Maybe if you send an image of your work to knotcalm@gmail.com I could be more accurate with my assistance.
Made this leash today. It turned out wonderful. Your instructions were easy to follow. Thank you! Next is the dog collar.
Well done!!! Your videos are so thorough and super helpful thank you!
Thanks so much 🥰

super cute for the fur babies!

Adoreiii 🐾❤🦮 tenho uma dúvida! Depois que fez os 30cm de NÓ ESPIRAL. QUANTOS nó QUADRADO você pra colocar aquela argolinha?
you will only need to make one square knot to attach the ring to the lead.
Thank you for this amazing tutorial!
A very instructive video. It was a little difficult because I don't speak English, but I succeeded. I'm making it from macrame thread. I've just started. What should pet owners do if they want to clean them? Any ideas? Thank you.❤
Thanks for watching and well done! I would suggest just soaking it or hand washing and the putting out in the sun to dry.
Can I ask what make you are using, and where you get it from please
Excellent turtorial! What dog do you have?! Im wondering what thickness i'd neednfor my golden retriever!
My dog is a beagle :) I think the thickness I've created would be just fine for your golden retriever ♥

Puoi fare un tutorial anche per la pettorina?
Tenho dúvidas!!! DEPOIS da argolinha fez a ALÇA com QUANTOS centímetros ⁉️
This will again depend on how big you want your lead to be, it is up to you how long to make your handle.
If I was to use 5mm cord, how would I work out the length?
Omg can’t wait to try this!!🪢
Hi, I don't quite understand the calculation of the length of the thread.
So if I have a leash that measures 150 cm, I have to calculate 150 x 6 and come up with 9 metres.
So the threads will have to be 2 of 9 metres? Is this correct?
Yes that is correct! it seems like a lot of cord, but you will need it :)
Do you have a tutorial for a hands free leash?
Very very good, thanks 🌻
Love it
Just lost our leash and one like that is so expensive now. I might have to make it myself
Oh no! Yes definitely try this out, good luck with your creation ☺️
What is the circle ring near the handle used for?
You can use this to clip on poop bags or any other accessories you might need when walking your pet.
Hi. Can you tell me how to determine how much cord I would cut for the leash and the collar? TIA
You can see at 00:57 in the video how I determine the measurement for the leash. You can make it to any lenght you desire based on your needs for your dog :) Make sure to check out the tutorial on the dog collar here: ua-cam.com/video/yNC3gqCfKAo/v-deo.html
Quantos nó QUADRADO vc fez depois dos 30cm de NÓ espiral???
This will all depend on how long you want your lead to be, as I have made this pattern adaptable to whatever size lead you need for your dog.
This is such an amazing tutorial! Is it possible to use two colors for the leash?
Thanks so much! Yes you definitely could, you would end up with a colour pattern that looks like the matching dog collar I made in my other video! I hope that helps 😊
Love the leash! How long are the working cords and how long are the inner cords? Thanks.

How long did this take to make!? Id like to make a 6 foot leash...
Hmm I can’t remember sorry! It would have been a good few hours though for my first one. Once I had made one they become much quicker though 🙏
@@KnotCalm thanks for getting back to me! do you sell them? If so how much?
Make sure you also check out the macrame dog collar! ua-cam.com/video/yNC3gqCfKAo/v-deo.html
Uau, ficou incrível, obrigado por compartilhar, ganhou mais uma escrita. 😘💛💚🌻
QUANTOS nó QUADRADO vc fez depois dos 30cm de nó espiral⁉️
How long did this take you to complete this project?
I would say 2-3 hours at most ☺️
Thank you

Thank you! 😊
Hi where do you get your string from?
Hi! where are you located? I am from Australia and so buy my string from a local Melbourne company (industrial yarns).

Omg😂 right I was making the spiral technique 😅
Made the handle of the leash in swuare nots as I realized😊 Thank you so much for answering!❤

@@KnotCalm it worked out fine tho but I had 5 feet left over so I made a plant hanger
I'd rather pull the whole cord through than deal with that giant birds nest of cord . I'm 51 been macraming since I was 8
