Cool project, very nice video, and you got one more subscriber. One thing I'd like to point out...... proper PPE can be your friend, especially with projects like this. I know it's a PITA to take it off so you can talk to your viewers, and then put it back on, but your eyes, ears, and lungs will thank you later in life.
Not a shabby non-structural repair at all. I didn't know you could sand panel bond. One thing's for sure....the panel bond won't rust! Very informative video. Thanks!
Although I would have probably welded that heater box perimeter, I am hoping this method will work for some small non-structural repairs up higher behind the dash at the corners of the windshield base. Cannot weld without removing the glass since the heat would likely crack it. Believe I have resolved the water ingress that caused that, but not going to take the glass out. So appreciate you sharing this. 90 minute working time is a blessing too.
It will work well. Especially if a fiberglass mesh is used with it. I’m my video, I didn’t use a mesh to keep the repair super thin. So if possible, use a mesh cause it helps. With the heater box sandwiched this repair, I felt it would be just fine without mesh as well. Glad I could help someone!
Urethane windshield adhesive will do the same job and way cheaper. Better than welding because it doesn't burn the metal in places that you can't refinish. Did bodywork for 50 years both with welding and panel bonding. Panel bonded repairs last forever ,welding does not because of metal deteriorating becuse of heat. I started bodywork when lead was the standard
Im doing a 73 cogaur replacing the rocker panels the repair is close to the gas tank .safer and quicker to panel bond better to be safe then sorry there not huge peaces saves me tons of time welding
The panel bond will have flex to it compared to a short strand fiberglass. And the panel bond has corrosion resistance properties built into it as duraglass does not
Why don’t you like the 3m brand? Too expensive? 3m has been making panel bond for close to 20 years if not more. Which brand do you prefer? I have used crest as well and it’s very similar but harder to come by
Lord Fusor is way superior. I’ve seen 3M let go. I used both when I was working professionally in the trade. OEM manufacturers make some great stuff today as well. Lord Fosor is my go to.
👎 If your going to do a sh%# job...... fiberglass would be a better choice, 3M panel bond and the applicator gun are expensive...... Do the job right 👍
Have seen this stuff sandwiched in all kinds of places.. filled over and painted. A quick fix for auto painters without welders.. they get two years and it begins to separate from the basemetal.. cracking fillers and paint.. for the price and the time to cure.. just buy a cheap welder.. even flux core.. do your best with steel and its still going to be 100 times better than any product like this.
Absolutely this won’t replace welding. Not everyone has a welder. Not everyone can weld thin sheet metal. Not every time can a welder be used under certain conditions. I would never do this on a paying job without full disclosure. There are a lot of worse ways people abuse.

Love it, this is how you get it done and get it on the street to enjoy for the summer 😊
Another piece of the puzzle done. Thanks for being here
Done it five years ago ,still doing it .lotus and landrover were the first to bond seal panels, i have used wurth bond seal , great video

Well done! Turned out nice
Thanks

Thanks for your great video. It’s gonna help me.!!!😊
For what you was doing that was the best route to go it’s going to seal inside and out water won’t be able to get in

Was wondering why you didn’t use some short strand fiberglass like Duraglass.

Just came to mind...it's like your a dentist to your car 😂
Lol
they don't sell this to consumers in The Netherlands, too bad.
Nothing wrong with panel bond, just 3M product is not the brand to use.

What brand do you recommend?

Looks just like jb weld

Would be nice to filter out all the vids that say 'like and subscribe'. This is UA-cam, not your tube.
That thumb nail tho!?!?!?
lol
