GHD Glide Hot Brush 'Not Sponsored' Review- the good and the bad

  • I love playing with my hair but I've never proclaimed to be good at it!
I've only filmed the first few times I used the GHD Glide in this video- and I've subsequently improved! I'm not used to doing hair videos so this was a bit of a 'why not give it a go' venture. I have unfortunately watched this back in editing and thought.....really.....that my best attempt......
Before Christmas I bough the Dyson styler and and whilst I was unimpressed with the curling functions I loved the brush attachments and I've been looking for heated brushes/dryers ever since.
I'm a big fan of GHD- in particular their wide straighteners and the GHD soft curl so I was keen to try this brush as soon as I came across it.
I'm not sure how long this has been available for- on the GHD website it states available for preorder, but I just bought mine straight from John Lewis' website (and there were reviews on their website from January). I wanted to provide the link here but it no longer seems to be available.

Thank you for such a refreshing honest and real review Emma! I just watched Lydia Elise Millen gushing about it being "THE NEWEST GAME CHANGING HAIR STYLING TOOL" coz she was gifted it by GHD... and so I really appreciate you for not misleading your followers. Keep the videos coming... love them!

I recently got this and wish I had it sooner. I always wake up with terrible bed hair, and there's never enough time to use a straightener. Quickly brushing my hair with this (instead of using a regular hair brush) calms down all my flyaways, makes my hair look like it's naturally smooth and casually styled. Within 2 minutes I'm ready to head out for work. Straighteners and curlers I use for special occasions, but for everyday this has been godsend.

Girl you’re using it wrong mate. You need to use little strips.

They are sold out here in Germany; I have pre-ordered one from Amazon, which is due 1st May. I hope it will work for me....my hair is shoulder length. I had read such good reviews about them, but after watching your review I am a little worried. Watch this space.....

The most honest review from a Youtubber and it’s not gifted, paid, AD or whatever. Truly appreciate this review. Thanks Emma. Xx

It's a shame you took back your airwrap. The airwrap has changed my life, dry my hair in 10 minutes with the smoothing brush, worth the money for that benefit alone for me! Xx

O my God, why I don't see your video before buying it. Same here, I thought it can dry my hair. But the instruction clearly say ensure your hair completely dry before using this. Sad.

Thanks for a great review. I bought it as soon as I heard about it and I have to say it works like magic on my hair. I have long, fine, bleached hair so lower temperature is great. I always air dry my hair and want to minimise any heat exposure, and with this brush it took 3 minutes for my long hair to look so fantastic, I was quite taken aback actually because previously trying to style it with a hair dryer and a brush I just couldn’t get the polished finish and it took me ages. So I think with thicker hair it won’t work as well but for me it’s brilliant, and I’m so glad I found it.

Thank you, you just saved me from regretting a purchase. My hair is well past shoulder length and thick. I can only imagine how many passes I'd have to make using this tool. I'm always on a search for something easy to style my hair and often just twist it and pin it up after I brush it through following a wash. Thankfully it does look pretty good the next morning using a Wet Brush to smooth it after unpinning. I hope a great heated brush will come out that does the job. Thank you for your honest review.

Great video I have wondered about this brush. I bought the Dyson Airwrap and can’t get over the price and gone back and forth with it but the Dyson Airwrap is so much better. The finish from the brush is better. The curls are tricky and definitely comes with practice but is so much better for your hair than straighteners.

Thank you so much for your honesty, Emma. I suspected it wouldn't work for my hair but another UA-camr (not naming names but we all know who she is) made it sounds like the best thing since sliced bread, so I was swayed yet still skeptical. I trust your review--that's exactly how this would have turned out for me. Thank you for saving me the time and aggravation of purchasing and then returning this product. I truly hope you gain many more subscribers--you deserve it. xoxo

Hi Emma! Thanks for this honest and interesting review. I really appreciated your relaxed attitude and truthfulness as it came across as reactionary than other reviewers and therefore considering the possibly downsides of the product. Did you ever find a hair-drying brush that you like? I’m in the market for one too! Thanks again 💖
