I crack up every time Namjoon gets passive-aggressive with his translations and tells the guys what Korean words LITERALLY translate to in English rather than the FUNCTIONAL translation that actually would answer their question. LOL
well the whole thing with the r and l depends on what ethnicity they are because for koreans i know that r and l sound use the same consonant "ㄹ" which is why koreans tend to be confused. im not sure for other east asian countries though. but regarding the whole racist joke issue in tv shows or movies, if the butt of the joke are asians or other non english speakers and their lack of knowledge on english (i.e. mocking the way they speak) , and the person making the joke's mother tongue is english then it is definitely xenophobic and offensive.
Start of syllable ㄹ=r (most of the time)
End of a syllable ㄹ=l (most of the time)
I'm from the Southeast Asia and our language can pronounce r and l just fine.
sebastine: "My name is T" (talking about tae)
me: no. your name is S
when it comes to "r" and "l" in some (or maybe most) Asian languages they are just allophones of the same phoneme /r/. Meaning you can pronounce /r/ as "r" or "l" and it doesn't make a difference in meaning. in English for example you can pronounce "right" with the standard English "r" or with the rolled "r" you might know from Spanish. With the rolled "r" it would sound a bit strange to you but you would still understand it as the word "right" because different pronounciations of "r" don't change the meaning of the word. Whereas in Spanish whether you pronounce "pero" with the "r" rolled at the front of your tongue or with the "r" rolled in the back of your throat changes the meaning of the word, so Spanish has multiple /r/ phonemes. Phonem = class of all sounds that make a difference in meaning. e.g. "right" vs "light" except for the first sound you pronounce these words the same but they still have different meaning that means "r" and "l" are phonemes in English. Whereas in Mandarin or Korean they are not. So it's easy to confuse those sounds and some may not even be able to hear the difference if they don't pay attention. I, for example, can't easily hear the difference between the front and back rolled r because they make no difference in meaning in my native language. I have to hear them pretty clearly back to back to notice the difference. This is pretty rambly but I hope you can understand what I'm trying to say :D
Very interesting! Do you study linguistics?
@@gray_7 yeah got an MA in linguistics :) though phonology wasn't one of my major fields I still liked the basics and differences between languages like the ones mentioned above :)
All I can say is that their english is better than most people's korean!💜
That clip where Tae said his name is J and then Jin also said that his own name is J just confirms that they share the same brain cells. I’m dead, that was hilarious! 😂
V is always confident and I love that.. I'm so proud of him... And who disagree when he said "I'm God", fight me 😅
I just love their broken English so much , I'm proud of them .
I myself I'm not that good in English . I'm happy for them they improved so much now . Still missing their old broken English 😆🥰 they are cute with that.
Not joon clowning in between lmao i cant
Your 'Asked' sounds like a car trying to start up
2:48 Yoongi english is too cute for me omg im gonna cry now
"Maybe no one understands, but he's saying roasted asparagus" 🤣

Also thank you to JK for blessing us with TRUSfrated. Has become a beloved term. 💜
As a non native english speaker I have trouble with maaaany words, but I can't for the life of me pronounce any conjugation of "laugh". I just never get it right...
Bruhhhh "my name is J. He is T" 😂😂😂😂😂

I'm a smarter than average person (no flex) and my spelling is crap. Don't feel bad. Just be glad we live in the age of spellcheck. 😅💜
Actually last night I got into the mood to watch 5 Korean lesson videos from this youtuber named Let’s learn Korean with Billy and there really is no specific ‘r’ and ‘l’ sound in Korean like English. It was really interesting to learn and makes a lot of sense.
I think that r and l thing is because korean letter ㄹ is used for both r and l. I was also very confused but after watching some 100+ kdramas...I can read some korean
It's funny that they seem to understand when someone else says the wrong English word but can't say it themselves. Also RM trolling the members in English is life🤣..
Also "I before E except after C" is a LIE!! Example "Weird".. that I&E are after W🤣
There’s one symbol for r,l and they pronounce it differently when it’s at the front, mid or end of the word.
someone should make a 1 hour video of Seb saying "asked" :)
As a foreigner, I find it really hard to pronounce the word "colonel" because when I hear it everyone says "cornel" or some shit. Like ,where do you get the "r" from? At first it was quite confusing because where im from we pronounce words the same way as we write them.
I like the new setting, nice closets.
i’m dying too 😹😹🤦🏻♀️11:13
4:35 namjoon is not wrong you know, 깨(gae) is wake up in korean (from the word 깨다 gae-da), literally is the action verb for wake up, but 깨 (gae) stands alone mean sesame for sure 😂
9:04 new creative way for self-introduction
: How are u doing
: I'm GOD
-what's "sesame" in English
-wake up
- Namjoon 2020 -
Asparagus goeeeyyy still sends skskss
I remember J Hope said lollipop 🍭 once, but he pronounced it rollipop. Hehe ☺️
*They are playimg around with direct translations of the words to emglish lol*
For asians we pronounce r instead of l because we don’t have that in some of our languages. Same with other letters like b instead v, p instead of f, j instead of z. 📝
Do some Rm tiktoks...they fireeee as hell.....
Nice Video, I think I already watched this Video on youtube!😉
240p. That's the best comment 😂 indeed the pain I felt
Jungkook and the English language are like the worst enemys 😂

I am God

Omg I just remembered that I had a dream of you before I knew you... like you were in my dream 😦😮
Jimin can help you remember how to spell BELIEVE. Just think of LIE :)
can you react to Kepler pls
Korean doesn't have the letter Z, they spell it with the letter J equivalent in their alphabet. That's why the EZ became "Elevator Jet"
yeayyy
“R” and “L” thing only exists in some Asian countries. In Vietnam, there are a huge difference
I know 5 languages but i am not perfect in a single one ...🙃✌️
the word "recieve" "receive" always got me. the spelling bruhh😭
"I" before "E" except after "C" . Our teacher made us memorize that before🤣🤣🤣
@@roselle1221 wwwooaahh. well I'm one of your classmate. 😂
Thank you! I learned today😂💜
🤗💜
@@roselle1221 that's a great tip. Thanks ☺️
Problem is that rule only works for about half the words
I always had a hard time pronouncing rural.

@@gryn_iq omg its so hard. learning korean rn and this demotivated me 🤣hwighting !
@@myaar7358 Sir, it literally spelt ryu ral. You can do it! 화이팅!
I gunna still your pillow
Hi Sebastian
love u :)
😂😂😂😂😂
Who else finds it annoying when people say first, second or third comment, just comment on the video pls.
It is ignorant shit . Do they say fake rove? Nope .. They use L .. It's not a thing , it's mocking ppl . Who knows how to pronounce words from a language u seldom hear , listen to or speak ? South park was mocking asians who do not know how to pronounce English words yet English first language speaking ppl struggle to pronounce words in Korean, and erm Americans who only speak English somehow cannot pronounce the word truth. U guys say troof for truth even tho their only language suppose to be English.. Rm is starting to write English lyrics . English is his third language that he taught himself when he was a kid , no formal school lessons , yet the people who says troof for truth attended school , English only for all subjects and English as an important subject itself frm grade 1 to grade 12 .. school level education and still truth is mispronounced .. stereotypes is not created out of nothing but it's exaggerated and the French can't even pronounce rrrrr but they not mocked for not being able to pronounce it .. They say geeh.. gheeson for reason .. I met a Korean who could not pronounce four, he said whor, it was hilarious but I could not pronounce hello in Korean properly , still struggle..
First😌
First comment......I think
