Well it has already been pointed they aren’t federally funded with tax payer loot since the 1970s, but what you said is still very wise. If you don’t file charges on a federal employee they can keep using their privileges in that position to cover up their crimes rather than showing they do not have the integrity to continue in their position. It is in the best interest of the NATION not just for you, to file charges on them especially when they committed felonies on video at that. To not file on them is to let your country down of which you share as citizen. What hurts one, hurts us all. Federal employees have to be held to a higher standard, you commit crime against the public, not only should they immediately be investigated, but also indicted and handed a federal prison sentence. Don’t get into a government position and think you can commit a single crime and not have to pay dearly for it as that is close to treasonous and traitorous to use OUR power against the people. The people should demand no tolerance for government employees that commit crimes at any level. Lose your job, disqualify them from ever holding another government position and go to prison. You should definitely file a criminal complaint. That would escalate this to a matter they'd finally take serious and stop brushing you off. That was a hit and run.
Sure, except that the USPS can claim qualified immunity under state laws for their drivers and vehicles. USPS vehicles do not need license plates and their drivers are exempt from needing a state drivers license. You have to pursue them under federal regs and then sue in federal court if that fails.
@@946towguy2 If you operate a motor vehicle as part of your duties, then you must have a valid, current state driver’s license in your possession while driving the vehicle. This requirement applies to all drivers of vehicles owned or leased by the Postal Service, owned by contractors, or owned by the driver.
@@946towguy2 Wrong. Government employees are protected under qualified immunity for harm caused by official acts done on behalf of the agency employing them. Committing a crime is not covered under qualified immunity as evidenced by the many government employees and officials who have been charged and convicted of crimes committed on duty. USPS workers also DO have to have to have valid state driver's licenses. The only thing you got right is about the license plates and that's because the vehicles are owned and operated by the federal government, and therefore not subject to state registration requirements. However, all USPS vehicles have registration numbers that are clearly visible on the rear of the vehicle to individually identify them. It is basically the equivalent of a US Government license plate, and they are in fact "registered" and in an automated database maintained by the US government and accessible by state and local law enforcement.

I trained as a USPS driver in Chattanooga, TN back in early 2023 but resigned within a few days. I did not like the job. But during training, the instructor taught that when you dismount from the vehicle, you first set the parking brake, you turn the front wheels towards the curb, you shut off the engine, then you dismount. This driver did none of this. He left the vehicle running, the parking brake was off. He violated every rule of dismounting from the vehicle. We were taught that it would result in immediate termination if found out by the USPS. That is why the employee quit before he could be fired. He took shortcuts and ended his career as a result. This was absolute stupidity at its finest.
That was my training as well. I did my first 360 and at the end of the 5 days off I turned bldg keys in along with my resignation. We recently arrested an on-duty USPS carrier for DUI and Hit and Run after he crashed into someone's fence and drove off. That's not the first time we've done so either. The FBI has jurisdiction over federal crimes and any crimes (state or federal) that are committed on exclusive federal property. Hit and run is a state crime. Only if the (state) crime occurred on federal property would federal law enforcement have any jurisdiction. The Assimilated Crimes Act which allows feds to arrest or issue citations for state code violations on property with exclusive federal jurisdiction like federal buildings, military installations, certain federally managed lands, etc. This is because only the feds have police powers in these areas and there is no federal crime of hit and run or (in the case I mentioned) DUI, so they arrest or cite for violation of the appropriate state law. The feds actually have zero jurisdiction in the case shown in this video because no federal crime was committed, and the crime was not committed on federal property.

USPS has a long history of screwing EVERYBODY out of the money they owe. I worked for a semi-trailer repair company and most of our clients were railroads and trailer leasing companies. USPS damaged a couple of railroad owned trailers to the tune of $7500.00. When USPS picked up the empty trailers they were inspected at the gate for damage and anything found gets written up and put in the manifest box of the trailer. USPS isn't responsible for any of that damage. When the trailers made it back to the railroad, they were again inspected at the gate and the damage found and documented on another J-2 inspection form. Any damage on that one is on USPS to pay for. We repaired the trailers and billed the post office.
We are way too lax on letting corruption run rampant in our government. It’s the people’s government, it’s not owned by those who are serving as servants to the people. @@946towguy2 If you operate a motor vehicle as part of your duties, then you must have a valid, current state driver’s license in your possession while driving the vehicle.

He pressed the gas instead of the brake lol

I would’ve pressed charges, taken them to court and then some to get the point across that they cannot get away w sh*t like this! How despicable!!
@SarahLovesBoobsandhandsEr.. Yes, exactly! I agree. He could have sued not only for damage to the car but also past and future damages or loss.. whatever it's called.
Ok Karen

This is why I never park on the road
Too many idiots
Some of us don’t have choice.
It must be nice to have the privilege of not having to park on the road.
Take the money out of the postal workers paycheck
There should have been NO MERCY toward the USPS and the driver. Charges should have been filed. Hit and run is a serious crime.
Don't worry. The check is in the mail.
oh great means another "visit" from the USPS. Keep your ring camera running...
Did people not hear that transmission grinding with wheels rolling? Some serious issues there too.
That's what I thought 😂
Kudos to the postal worker, f your car, no mail was late that day
Why do government workers only get a slap on the hand... any normal citizen would have been criminally charged for hit and run for what he did.
Please! They'll steal your mail in a heartbeat, and even EMPLOYEES say exactly what everyone else already said: lazy, thieves, and no honor, as shown. They'll steal it and cut open the replacement BOOK package hope they'll READ IT, anyways.
Despite popular belief....The USPS is NOT a govt entity. However this is unacceptable and a hit and run. Destruction of someone's property and then to run like a coward is bs.
any normal citizen, who isn't rich, or didn't have connections.
@@MaryMary-iw7wh The United States Postal Service (USPS), also known as the Post Office, U.S. Mail, or simply the Postal Service, is an independent agency of the executive branch of the United States federal government
@@MaryMary-iw7wh The Postal Reorganization Act of 1970 established the USPS as an independent government agency.
USPS is incompetent.
Post Office struggling to make money, Post driver struggling to control car.
The Post Office loses money intentionally by underpricing junk mail for political reasons.
😂
@@KarmenD-ce5reWrong, the money it generates in profits is supposed to fund its operations, but it instead incurs billions of dollars in operating losses annually 😅
@@KarmenD-ce5re No you didn’t lol. “They aren’t suppose to make money” they Infact do 56 billion dollars of revenue generation actually this last quarter, it’s just not enough to sustain their operations sustainably. They ideally want to break even but now the tax payers still foot the bill smh.
@phatnum17 think they meant not supposed to make a profit after expenses. I'm an ex carrier and that's what we were told. USPS is meant to be a service to the american people per the constitution, not a business. However, it's not supposed to run in the red and have poor service like it is now 😬 I blame a certain administration for severing ties between the government and the USPS. The latter effective running as well as... well, a run away teenager or freight train.
I work for the PO. We broke! Good luck.
Lol😂 this dude worked another six months before he retired😅
Wrong!
I had one in Michigan crash into a snow bank,, drunk walked past other homes, and went a quarter mile to my house demanding to use the bathroom.
I refused her, reported it to the sheriff, mail stopped coming for a month , no results except mail missing. The post office said it was resolved..
My vehicle was hit by a postal worker. The hoops you have to go through if you get in an accident with a postal worker is INSANE. You have to MAIL in their stupid form and all accident reports/receipts, etc. and pay out of pocket or go through your own insurance and be out money. They have no insurance company you can deal with, all you can do is mail them your information and wait. Its an absolute joke and the postal service should be ashamed and they shouldn't be allowed to operate this way.
I was sitting in a chair 5’ from front door, mail lady puts my mail in slot in door and, once again, there’s a notice that she had certified mail for me but I wasn’t available to sign! She didn’t knock on door and the form was pre-filled. I ran out and stopped her. She apologized, went to truck and got my letter! She LIED bc she didn’t want to deliver my letter. I have been going to the PO and dealing with surly workers trying to get CERTIFIED mail!!!
Yeah I hate those type of workers… my nearest post office is 20 minutes …
USPS does that to me all the time. 😡
I’ve met absolutely lovely USPS workers, so I know that not all of them are this terrible, but boy there are a lot of them!
I know your pain. A lot of third party courier in Australia does something like this too. You would take the day off to wait for important delivery and never get any knock or door bell at all... I don't understand it, they already have the item in the delivery vehicle and made the effort to drive to your address but then not try to deliver it??
@@bleukreuznot defending it but a little inside look.
The mail your carrier delivers is all presorted and a concrete route. They have to drive past your house regardless if you have mail or not to follow their route.
Now as far as the certified letter, I’m guilty of being annoyed of pulling to a house, knocking and waiting 4-5 mins, no response, and the customer decides to stumble to the door after I already wrote up a notice and as I’m leaving. I’ve done that to a house who often gets letters but is never available to answer the door. I found myself “assuming” they won’t answer after a while.
Lot of scenarios but like I said not defending it. Mail carriers have no AC, typically work 6 days a week, unpredictable work hours and trucks with terrible gas emissions in the cabin of the truck.
USPS: We have investigated ourselves and find no wrongdoing.
Typical government agency.
I almost had this happen when I was a carrier at the post office. Didn't go in park. I got out and it started rolling away. Jumped in and got it stopped inches from the car in front of me.
Some of these old mail trucks have an issue where the lever looks and feels like it's in park, but it actually is not. I drove a bunch of them with this issue
He should have filed criminal charges in this case. It was a clear hit-and-run.
Haven’t you ever been to a post office? There’s like two people working at any time. One in the front and one in the back
well that might depend on if your talking about a heehaw post office that services 34 people. Mine in the morning has 40 or 50 people working in the back. In the afternoon there's not a lot of people in the back cause the all out delivering the mail.
That wasn't a tap either. He clobbered that car hard enough to push it several feet while the car was in park.
HEAR THE PARKING BRAKE PAWL RATCHET???? NEW TRANSMISSION? COST MORE THAN THE CAR IS WORTH?
This is so dirty,
Insurance is is the culprit too. They’ve been really shady in California after the fire losses
No.
Insurance companies have always been shady. Where have you been?
Hit & RUN is a CRIME - File it with USPS POSTAL INSPECTOR OFFICE. Find out WHO ran that route on that DATE & TIME
Well, he should have called the cops first. Hit and run is a crime then called his insurance company and let them go after them for damages. He went about it the wrong way.
Absolutely disgusting behavior from our government
Man should have contacted a lawyer. The lawyer would have know what to do to get money quicker and get more money. Probably would have been settled out of court too.
Sue the federal government
Nothing surprises me about the USPS. I've been fighting them for over 30 years for lackluster service. Manager there don't care.
Lackluster service? You want a stage production with music and dancers?
should be criminal charges here. i'd get my own justice against the driver...his mistake was not calling the police and getting a police report.
