Lovely to see this! I truly believe The West Wing Warriors who abide by the code of this channel do not need to say a word...because President Carter did just fine explaining how we all feel when we are fortunate to come in here and allow this channel to let us escape for a few precious moments. This will never be lost on me. Cheers All👋

The most genuinely nice person ever to be President. I didn't always like what he had to say ,but I never doubted his sincerity or honesty.

Great interview by former President Carter. He was someone who inspired Jed Bartlett's characterization, esp the latter's strong moral compass and conviction. I could see him arguing with God just like Bartlett did in "Two Cathedrals." And this interview in which Carter explained his decision not to attack Iran to free the hostages while he had the option on the table was revealing. Definitely inspired Bartlett's agonizing decision whether to attack Syria or not in the episode featured here. He's definitely ranked high on my top-5 list of best US President ever. RIP Mr President.

And I could see Rosalynn standing behind Jimmy, admonishing him for speaking harshly to The Lord.

This was great. His humanity and empathy shone through, but so did his considerable intelligence.

President Carter was not a great president, but he is still my favorite president. His honesty, decency, and the way he went out of the way to avoid war at any cause was amazing. He was able to return the hostages without going to war. It cost him re-election, but he did it because it was the right thing to do. President Carter had guts to do what he knew was right.

What a beautiful thing to share. The first president I can remember of my lifetime, and although he had his faults as well - looking the other way when Monsignor Romero pled for his country, a few bad pardons - in many ways one of the finest humans to hold the office. Such a study in contrasts for these times.

I was lucky enough to meet him because my father worked in his administration. He was then and was throughout his life, a humble, intelligent, and very caring man. I find it ironic, that such a trustful, honest, highly intelligent leader would die take up some of the media attention at the beginning of the next President, who happens to be such a dishonest, self-serving, egotistical, stupid, cheating, insurrectionist bastard. We’re gonna call Mr. President for a second time. WHAT?!
I’m more disappointed in the American people because we know this guy and what he is gonna do and yet people voted for him. Anyway, God bless you, President Jimmy E Carter. You will be sorely missed.

I’m comforted and appalled in equal measure.
Comforted by the knowledge that not so long ago, when I was a teenager, the American people did elect a decent man to the Presidency.
While nobody’s perfectly decent all the time, and I’m sure President Carter made decisions I don’t agree with, there’s a sense of real, genuine authenticity to him.
Appalled, alarmed, truly terrified in a way I didn’t believe possible, at the prospect of what’s coming in just a week. Contrary to President Carter, the next 🤢president🤢 seems genuinely incapable of decency. Whether by nature, nurture or both, he truly seems to not possess certain fundamental human qualities.

No, as further bittersweet reminders for us on how it is supposed to work. You can't create a training video for a person who refuses to open his mind even a millimeter.

It is fascinating to see how far the office of President has fallen since Jimmy Carter was POTUS. Neither Biden nor Trump could even come close to speaking as intelligently, candidly or honestly as President Cater did in this interview.

    • @tejaswoman

Let's not speak as if one of them couldn't have come much closer than the other, especially as only one of them gives a damn about the country rather than enriching himself.

@shalashaska9946 'Cause why? Rockefeller and Trilateral connections? Nuclear engineer? Too close to his mom? Lusting in his heart for women he wasn't married to?
