I blame it on my ancestors and their buddies in the De Anza expedition, they planted that to feed their cattle. All native California grass is evergreen.

I went to Henry Coe a couple of years before this video and it was a tickfest. Everyone in our group found ticks on thier clothes and half of us had to take post trip antibiotics.

When I lived in San Jose I used to go to Coe all the time for day hikes. There was this certain giant meadow that would be covered in white flowers for a short period during the spring. It looked like snow until you got close. Rad.

Probably out of season in April but Madrone tree berries taste like low-sugar fruit snacks. (In addition to recognizing the tree they're the textured ones, NOT the smooth red berries!) Best when they're good and red. There's still a few good ones around now but mostly past their prime.

uclimb3 i am getting my mountain bike tuned and brought back to life as we speak. I am based out of LA. Let me know if you would be willing to take on a mountain biking noob. I done it a little on rental bikes in New Hampshire and loved it. I want to use it for cross training. Please let me know, sir!

Hey Jimmy, just came here after watching your Cloud's Rest video. My first backpacking trip ever was at Coe, and it was this trip almost exactly in Summer 2017. It was over 100 degrees, and it looked a lot different than this haha. We camped at Lost Spring campground, which is just up the hill (south) from Los Cruzeros. This video brought back so many memories and I recognized many familiar sights, like China Hole, those red trees, and the steep switchbacks. Thanks for posting.

Welcome to the channel! I'm curious to see how this summer plays out given the low snow this winter (so far).

I've been there many times for day hike mostly during summer time but never though of backpacking since it's kind of close to where I live. I like floating in the stream part:)

Great place. Been there 4 times but only for day hikes. Last time I was in March and I swear that I had to cross coyote creek some 20 times a o definitely wet feet at the end of it all

I volunteered doing trail building here before. Thanks for the reminder to come back! Where are you based out of, if you don’t mind me asking. I would love to go on a day hike just to learn from your mountaineering skills.
