Probably one of sweetest films. There’s real chemistry between him and the children. I bet they all had a blast as Jack Black seems to be a big kid himself.
According to Miranda Cosgrove he was giving out guitar lessons on set, including her first.
He's pretty much shown that in all his movies, and interviews.
You can watch their backstage chemistry in the making of, it's really nice to see
He was touched by them all.
@@fenhen And he's pretty sure he's touched them too
“NO MORE SECRET SONGS!”.. amazing advice for any kind of band
I couldn't agree more. Great comment.
✌🏻amazing advice for any kind of band ✌🏻
Kurt kabain
As I got older I find it funny how they expect us to think that the rooms next door couldn't hear any of this
But they *soundproofed* 😂
TRU. IN CLASSROOMS U CAN LITERALLY HEAR PPL TALKING IN THE NEXT ROOM
well at the very least they addressed it by putting in "soundproof" measures lol
I think that's why they made sure to include that detail in the script where he assigned the kids to soundproof the room lol
Jack's reaction to the costumes gets me every time!
That was my reaction when I saw those costumes as well!
It’s the reaction most people have whenever they see me.
@@HeyMyLifeIsLibby 😂😂😂
XDDD
Love how he warns the kids not to do late night parties and tequilas.😆
gotta keep them out of trouble
👍😂… me too!
Try to get lucky?
Have sex?
😂
When he tells Lawrence “no more reading, its time for rock” hahaha
I love the part leading up to this, when he's giving them all their "homework" and the fashion kid asks if he can do the wardrobe instead of what Jack gave him. And without any hesitation or problem, he just replied "Of course you can."
fancypants
It's a shame more schools don't teach music like this.
Well, classic music is the base of all this songs.
They should!
You're so right. LET'S CLONE JACK BLACK TIMES A 1,000
when i was in sixth grade our music teacher let us play guitar hero but he was let go :(
Our senior music teacher was like this, granted Australian HSC music is mostly independent project, so there was a lot of benefit to the teaching style
“No more secret songs” 😂
Years on, this is still one of the most fun films I’ve ever seen.
,No more secret ,songs, 😂
The Sitter will movie 🎦 😂Johnnie Gonzalez joy 😂 eggs 🥚 movie 🎦
R.I.P Kevin Clark who played Freddy jones in this movie 1988-2021
What in the Hell was he doing riding his bike at night on an expressway?!?
Drug run?!? 🤔
What?! I didn’t know he’s dead. I was shocked when I read that. Rip Kevin Clark.
Passed away from car 🚗 crash 💥
Rest In Peace
@@SmallvilleFann1983 it seemed to be a popular bike path. Late night could have been a bar, gig or band practice? Just had a new band and played their first gig the weekend before I read.
Dangerous intersection for the bicyclists. Another fatality like a month before.
A witness and passengers of the car said light was green for the car. Did he fully run the red or did it change as he went through it?
Supposedly there was footage and a request was sent in.
Passengers were like 18-20, and maybe less. One wasn't aged, but last name of driver. Driver refused DUI blood test.
Driver was given citations for going too fast. And driving uninsured. And I think without a license. Or this suspended it.
But, also...A little over a month before that female motorist ran a red light. And was fined as well for not being insured. Same thing happened again. What were THEY doing at 1am as well?!?
Crazy situation. Sad.
"Baby, we were makin' straight As
But we were stuck in the dumb-days"
I'm not sure why but I really like those first to lines of the song. Fun to listen to, fun to repeat myself.
I remember wailing it in the shower as a child. Simpler times.
Thought it was dumb daze

An insanely proud teacher right 👉 there😂😂 girl 👧 the time ⌚ girl 👧 really, there😂
What i love about Dewey's "class" is it's a Montessori class geared towards being in a rock band. "What are you good at? What are you passionate about? Lets teach you a variety of skills relevant to that."
Those kids didn't learn any math, but if they never looked at a rock stage again, the feeling of pursuing a passion and following a wider approach to knowledge and wisdom will have changed them forever.
Let alone the coolest story they could tell to all their friends.
This wasn’t Jack Black acting, this was just him in natural habitat, playing MUSIC with kids… and Linklater just happened to have a camera in handy.
No other man could exceed what Jack Black brought for the lead, in my opinion.
Totally agree
"nodon'tbetalkinaboutmabowtiiee" 😂😂
Lol he became a leprechaun for a second
RIP Kevin, an amazing drummer 💔
What happened to him?
wtf for real?
@@Major.P210 he was killed in a car accident, I believe he was hit by a car on his bike, in May 2021

School of Rock is an outstanding movie hard to believe that next year will be 20 years since it came out wow
came out on october 3rd 20 years ago! I will be celebrating it on that day for sure.
One of the biggest assets of this film was how progressive it was for 2003. The film can even release today without arousing a single hint of criticism, that is how progressive it was.
Black treating the children as equals, on screen and in real life, has more of an impact on those children than one realizes.
The non-judgemental way he treats an effeminate child, in an era when such men and gay men were correlated as equals and gay men were almost always mockeries in comedies. You realize how major that is when you realize that despite this, Brian Falduto was bullied and threatened for being gay after this role.
Then the entire film is basically teaching the children to embrace their flaws and make them their strengths. While this feels overdone in the age of self-proclaimed gurus on tiktok and instagram, this was revolutionary for a comedy film aimed at children back then.
People do not understand the influence this film had on an entire generation of children growing up. It taught us that you are never useless, never ugly, and you have talent regardless of what the world says to you. That is inspirational. That is cathartic. Especially to a generation of kids who were, fortunately for posterity, the last generation to grow up without mental health acceptance and in taboo of therapy/counselling.
The impact of this film goes beyond just being one of the most kickass musical comedies of all time, and it's high time we recognize that.
This is a great comment... I've been saying for years now that this movie shaped me so much and I never realized it as a kid. Watching it as an adult, it hit me so hard just how much of it really molded me into who I am now. This movie was a gift and there was nothing better than watching it for the first time as a kid. Still an amazing watch even after all these years. Can't wait to show it to my kids one day♥️
you deserve more likes
yees this comment. always when rewatching this it's so nice seeing him not leave any of them out and be so chill
yeah..
I guess I had an awesome childhood. 😊
Personally I've always loved the glam rock stage outfits and the references to all rock musicians (like when he briefly refers to the kid's attitude to that of Kurt Cobain). Absolutely loved it. ❤❤❤ A gem of a movie. 🎬
This movie is underratedly good.
I watched this movie about 100 times growing up
That smile on Jack Black’s face when the song is coming together. 😆❤️
“arrugegegelege gegegegegegegege gedele”
- Jack Black
he has such a way with words
“I wanna hear it Kurt Cobain” 😂😂
Don't be talking about my bow tie
Can't believe this classic masterpiece movie is 20 yrs old now time sure flies
"You cant even dress yourself" 😂
"look at that bowtie😒"
Funny how lead guitarist got arrested a few years ago for stealing guitars
Jack black gave him too much passion lol
No way. That is so *punk* rock 🤣🎸🪨🔥
He still had that zack mooneyham in him
That is so ironic
Jack Black sure is a good actor and voice actor too!
"Don' you be talkin' 'bout mah bowtie!" I love that line.
Yo I still loooove this movie!! I was bobbin my head the whole time. Jack Black just has this magic with those kids. This movie is timeless!
0:27
That part is funny.
The sequence for this movie should be like, jack or the guitar kid became actually a music teacher in another school that compete in something!
Jack did become a teacher at the end
2:54 when Dewey realises that "fuck!!!, we got something"
He just wanted some David Bowie in the band haha
Can’t blame him. ⚡️
I know right! I knew I couldn't be the only one who found that the music was very Bowie-esque....😊😊😊⚡️🎸

That was my reaction when I saw those outfits though!
It was like he saw them naked or something.
Friendly reminder that this movie is one of Black's proudest moments for the wholesome
Don’t you be talkin’ about my bow tie!
Hits my heard like getting into the movie and feel the way that the kid feels like. Lirycs of the song hits so hard its poetic
Glad I clicked on this, the title should've been called "School of Rock: Zack writes a song"
When I first saw those concert outfits I was like it’s too 70’s!!
“They can just wear their uniforms”
- “That’s not a bad idea“ 😂
Angus Young inspire that line??
The poncey designer kid was adorable.
This movie is about honoring and healing your inner child while becoming a real grown-up.

Why do Freddie and Katie change clothes halfway through their rehearsal?
This is the type of teacher I'd have loved to have in school.
I started crying as I realized this movie is 20 years old. There are onlyfans models younger than this movie. This has completely ruined my day. Like this came out right after Harry Potter dropped on DVD. Time sucks. Only consolation is how many epic movies came out when I was in high school in the early 2000s. My neighbor dropped out of high school because she was knocked up and her daughter is graduating high school now. So that's hilarious too. She literally has her dad's face, an exact copy, and he's been dead about 10 years now. And it's so messed up I can't even look at her. Oh yea, he was also one of my best friends. This has ruined my entire week. Psychologically, this has ruined so much more. There is so much damage from this. A therapist can not fix this. This is shit you die with.
2:06 So how much time actually passed between that transition if Katie and Freddy changed back in their regular clothes?
Most likely an hour or so. Seems like a bit of time passed since the desks were moved and they also learned more parts.
Rock n roll
If my parents were like Dewey, my life would turn out so much different
To this day I still love Miranda Cosgrove 😁 il also love the girl who sings Tomorrow from Annie she’s so me 🤣
