Sometimes you use a ton of items until you notice that you are not intended to beat that boss. I hate that... :(

+Ledrang At least Beatrix ends it if you stay alive long enough, so outlasting her is at least a (sort of) winning move unlike many other similar bosses.
TheTriforceDragon Yea but playing it for the first time though was infuriating as you had no idea you was meant to lose, i ended up traveling back to Gizamaluke's Grotto and fighting the enemies in the forest area above where the Moogle couple are that have the Grand Dragons, only to then go up against her again and have her own me and realize "Oh i was meant to lose" when the cut-scene played.

its pretty easy tbh.. I haven't played bb in forever but the easiest way " for me at least" is just dodge the attacks until you can set up a backstab/ charge
Or you can just run by him and get to the lantern

For the Bloodborne werewolf, you can also make a mad dash for the lantern and avoid fighting it entirely.

It wasn't a hard fight, granted it takes a few minutes to work it's health down, but it's entirely doable

Zappy Caboose Also true. It's a common enemy you can defeat then by either gitting gud, or being a huge coward and outrunning it.
Special mention: the shinra soldiers Zack fights so he could protect Cloud at the end of Crisis core
the sorrow one was really hard for me to get far enough for it to work on cos i basically murdered everyone up to that point. they gave me a rocket launcher what did they expect
No u had to dodge the ghosts in the river of all the people u killed. On the vita version u had to get a certain distance up the river for it to let u continue.
Back in the PS2 games, I killed so many I barely made to the end (no pun intended) moving past an army of life-sucking dead soldiers.
+Keith johnson You didn't have to make it to the end to use the revival pill, i used to go under the water right at the beginning of the encounter and just wait to drown. Then when the game over screen comes on just take the revival pill as normal.

I tried everything to kill that son of a bitch. I was convinced I could beat him, if I tried the right strategy.
I made sure to collect every rare power up item (speed+, etc), and use it during the fight.
Very nice to see LoD referenced in here. One of my favorite games of all time.
Actually, you can beat the sorrow very easily (depending on your point of view). All you have to do is until that point, DO NOT kill any unforced enemies in the game ( of course, you have your usual bosses so i'm not counting those ). Instead, use your tranquilizer gun. After you get past the sorrow, kill those soldiers to your hearts content :)
I never kill in any mgs, so when I first played 3rd on ps3, I didn't know what the hell was going on. I just thought that I was walking down a ghost corridor xD

One does not simply Not kill soldiers in MGS...
So I'm that guy that kills literally every person I see in MGS and I don't kill them just once.
I'll go a few screens forward and then a few screens back to kill them again. Then I'll go a few screens back to kill more guys again.
And I'll follow it up with going a few screens forward again...
The cycle repeats itself with me, a lot.
I kill everyone a lot in MGS.
What about your first encounter with Seath in Dark Souls. you can't kill him there.

Seath was definitely the easiest boss in the game. My first time encountering him in the crystal caves I killed him my first go wothout taking any damage. Was kinda dissapointed honestly :/

It took me almost 3 years to beat Fable 2's final boss ...... The tears that streamed down my face after victory, greatest day of my life (jk). He was one of those bosses you kept going back to every 3 months determine to beat them an after countless tries I did it
***** The Final Boss, Lucian. He's practically immortal.
***** But he's super hard I mean You have to hold down one button SO HARDDD
*SPOILER* For anyone that doesn't remember or just doesn't get the joke, you hear Lucian ramble on a bit about his plans. During all of this, you're aloud to kill Lucian with one attack thus ending that. if you don't kill him fast enough, Reaver(Hero of Skill) will regain consciousness, wakes up pissed, and just shoot Lucian out of nowhere. The end. COOL RIGHT? :D

I had a rom of Breath of Fire that had the option to turn on God mode and the first encounter with a basic enemy that's supposed to kill you will literally never end.

You can visceral attack the Werewolf at the beginning of Bloodborne, effectively one shotting it.
I just punched it for 5 minutes
He was talking about using your fists not when you get weapons

I was about to comment exactly that. Ive played so much bloodborn that killing it with my fists is the easiest thing in the game

Quick and easy primer for anybody rushing to the comments with suggestions, but are unversed in the meaning of the word "Literal". In this instance - "Literal" as in a "Literally Impossible Boss" is one that is totally, completely absolutely and unquestionably un-killable to the player, and the fight must either be lost or simply survived to completion etc.
So no, Sans doesn't count, because you kill him, monster death sound effect and all. Same goes for the hydra (or Yamata No Orochi) from Otogi: Myth of Demons

Jetstream Sam was invincible in the Prologue of MGR but that changed when his Raiden had his body upgraded after the fall of World Marshall HQ and with the deaths of the Winds of Destruction Sundowner, Mistral, and Monsoon, we face Sam again in the Colorado badlands, then he dies. Sam's VT7 High Frequency Murasama Samurai Sword came in handy to defeat Senator Steven Armstrong once the ID Lock on the blade was disabled. Sam used the blade against Armstrong himself and managed to slice off the Senators arm before Sam was defeated and the Reinforced anti-shock nanomachines caused Armstrong to reattach his dismembered hand.
Seathe the scaleless from dark souls, Crazy damage, literally invulnerable to all attacks., but it takes while to realize that because you can try a lotof attacks.

I hate those boss fights where you're SUPPOSED to lose but the game doesn't make that clear in anyway so you're wasting all your valuable stuff, trying to stay alive, only to realize that you weren't meant to win so now you wasted all that stuff for nothing.

curryvid Ugh, Beatrix was infuriating. I had managed to level my party into the 20s, thanks in part to a lucky win against a Grand Dragon (trust me, a fight with a Grand Dragon on Disc 1 is practically suicide), watched my party shrug off everything, then still got the forced loss. In fact, the game has her win all three fights. Kinda takes a player down a peg.
It took me an hour and a half to defeat Sahelanthropus. I tried eight times.
An easy way to beat him is to use the missile shooting tank

That was like the easiest boss in Metal Gear. Took me about 5-10 minutes.
I used the vehicles right, and then every time he was low I got insta-killed by the giant laser.
Had to Like and Favorite this almost immeadiately for two reasons: 1. Legend of Dragoon. I still love this game and go back to it anytime I can. I hope there is a remake in the future, but we shall see. 2. The Badger winning against the Werewolf was hilarious and made me drop my phone, laughing.

Yes and No. It is a re-imagining of the original game. Things are similar such as the main protagonist, setting, and antagonists in the game, however, it stops there. Boss battles, item locations, enemy attack patterns, certain abilities (aka you can get zero's buster if you don't get the upgraded xbuster), and cutscenes are all different.

Indeed, the megaman series in itself is perhaps my favorite game series of all time. Excluding the Battle Network series ofcourse.

borderlands 2, dragon age, kingdom hearts 2, demon souls, dark souls, dark souls 2, blood borne ;)

took me three hours to beat the end of mgs3 ....dam that sniper lol
you can kill him earlier on in the game, you just have to kill him while in the water with a sniper rifle. Its when you see the general standing there talking with his guards and the end is wheeled rather quickly back into the building. You have to be super fast to pull it off though....

You mean Squall? Yes you can beat him, but it's hard and has the same out come in the cut scene except he compliments you. Although, there is Riku before you leave Destiny Islands
It's funny, my mum beat Squall 1st try and she has to look at the controller to press a button. Me? I got beat and i'm an experienced gamer. I was playing on Hard though for the difficulty trophy. But still... I said "you actually can't beat him". She swipes him a few more times, he goes down, my jaw goes down with him. She looked all smug.

You get to skip skip the prison break sequence in Fort Drakon if you defeat her early.

Shizel from Tales of Destiny 2 (Eternia) should be on here (first encounter). While you can technically win the battle, its not worth the resources unless youre hugely leveled, but even if you win the battle, she still nearly kills you.

Ferril from BloodRayne2. No matter how much you slice at her, there's no killing her, and if you manage to push her off the tower, she just comes back like nothing happened. The way to win is to destroy all condensers on the tower (24 in total) while avoiding her and her folks
Can't believe you didn't mention Vergil in DMC3
The first 2 fights against Vergil you have to win the fight but will get defeated in the cutscene

I thought the Sorrow fight was cool because I figured, "hmm I am currently in a dream sequence because I am currently drowning in the river, what if I try to lay down in the shallow water and drown myself in the dream?" And then the sorrow started to have a different monologue with me, saying not to drown myself or something, either way I didn't know you could use the revival pill as my game had me wake up by myself after drowning in the dream.

Your first meeting with Zio in Phantasy Star IV doesn't go well. He's the first guy to not just be a dude with natural ability, or a monster roaming the planet, and oh boy does he have actual abilities. Very, very lethal actual abilities.

There was a mission on one of the Ace Combat games (I forget which one) where a squadron of enemy ace pilots show up and you're told to get the hell out of there as quickly as possible because (as rookies) you don't stand a chance.
Of course, I wanted to stay and fight, I wanted to prove i could take on these aces, but no matter how good you are, no matter how much you can out-fly them, you cannot beat them. Every time a missile gets close they'll pull off impossible moves to shake it. You can stay out for half an hour, running down the rest of the mission timer, out-flying them and running rings around them but you literally cannot take them down. Eventually you'll have to give up and race your way home before the mission timer runs out and you have to start the whole mission over.
You do get to fight them again later, and that time, they are kill-able, but in that first encounter they are literally impossible to kill.
I don't know why but I really love every video that Delsin is in.
