The new Pokemon designs of Scarlet and Violet SUCK. Over one hundred new #pokemon were introduced with the Paldea region in #scarlet and #violet and some these newer designs... well... they fall short to say the least. That’s not to say that there aren’t some absolute BANGER designs that came from this generation, it’s just that Pokemon and GameFreak have begun moving away from their traditional design philosophies and have created some boring and uninspired Pokemon that will not be remembered in ten years time.

it seems like most the gen 9 pokemon were made for shits and giggles worst gen easily
They are intentionally killing Nintendo and the Pokémon. The real Pokémon art director has step down that’s why the making all that crappy Pokémon. Am not surprised if the call a Pokémon crappy
Dunsparce definitely done out of pure joke... Honestly gen 9 is honestly lackluster my problem is how far from creature to just pure characters caricature... Few good majority is just meh and my god ... Nostalgia is the issue itself since its little new pokemon in it....
A lot of Pokémon was characters caricature, and a lot of people are creatures.
@@jadseif8102 yes but let's get down here gen 9 is so far leaning towards that problem alot.... I don't mind bipedal pokemon with characteristic.. it's just how far from animalistic to mascot creature like tony tiger or Trix rabbit...
@@MangaBear The franchise always had humanoid bipedal designs, from Jinx to Hitmonchan. This was never a "problem" at all.
The only thing that's changed is the mindset of some of the fanbase, especially of the older, nostalgic part of it.
@@gsp6517 re read my comment.... I never brought up humanoid.... I talking about characture ideals that take ups the pokemon itself. I'm aware of gen 1 btw I am a 90s person but gen 5 - 7 is my fave. Giving pokemon too much humanoid appearance is a problem. I can ignore machoke line the hitmon etc because that look nothing like humans or at least trys not too much. Imo I wish designers do better with bipedal pokemon. Not just bipedal but also insectoid and aquatics.
every generation has goods and bads
people call the new pokemon uninspired yet completely ignore Pokemon such as voltorb, magnemite, grimer, etc.
My least favorite is tinkerton it looks like it still a first stage pokemon. It feels like if you had a 3 stage pokemon like ralts but then give it a baby form amming it 4 stage. It feels unfinsihed like there should be something nore but in the end it just a pink human child with a big hammer. It doesnt feel like a pokemon to me personally the ssme can be applied to other other pokemon like sawk and throh which i wont dent that but with thinkerton it feels like I looking at the firdt stage of a pokemon line when its the final stage and that it just a pink small child.
If i bought it, Whole team would be older gen, with 1 gen 9

The worst thing is going against a design because it’s not the same things than in the other generations. It’s just the worst thing for creativity. Every time we have a new generation, we have fans saying: It’s the WORST generation! That’s really exhausting.

Every single generation people say this, without fail. This is getting old.
Also: "boring" and "uninspired" are not actual criticisms, but value judgements based on your own tastes, which is fine.. if you recognize it, that is.
Actual analysis takes way more effort, because it requires that the person doing it actually go out of their way to understand the actual intentions of the artists.
Actual good media criticism goes beyond just regurgitating opinions.

You simply resorting to the "look at x design" non-argument says a lot.
Actual good critisism on why people hate the new designs, goes beyond just saying their opinions are subjective, and thefore holds no value. People are pasionate about Pokemon, and probably grew up with it from childhood, unlike lots of people born after the 2000's. We understand the concept of poke monsters. Monsters that live in the wild, just like animals does in our world. It's relatable.
Lets take the Charcadet evolution line for instance. It's makes absolutely no sense, how are this thing gonna survive in nature? Would it even be believable? It's just.. a dude, in a suit or whatever. It lacks context. This is objectively a bad design for pokemon, while it might works in other franchises. This is why humanoid pokemon icks people so much. They don't make any sense. Speaking of design, lots of the gen 9 pokemon, doesn't even look like pokemon. It's a real shame.
And boring and ininspired designs is actually a good argument, like we are talking about one of the best selling franchises in the world. I could understand being lazy with the first gen designs, when Pokemon was new.
@@simonrodriguez7204 It's not just gen 9 that struggles with Pokemon living in the wild. Try to imagine Jynx, or blaziken, or klefki in the wild, they don't exactly fit either. Fans try to use criticism of things that have been there for way longer than they realize.
@@PokemonZenith Sure, there are bad designs from older generations too. But when looking at the pokemon from gen 9, compared to the pokemon from first 3 gen, it's hard to ignore that there are way more humanoid designs, than the 3 first gens combined. And in general, gen 9 pokemon, don't really look like they are from the same universe anymore. I understand it's no problem if you grew up with black/white or x&y, the designs already departed a lot from the franchise back then
@@simonrodriguez7204If you look at their track record, some of their most popular Pokemon are humanoid or bipedal, which is why they make more of those. At least that's my theory. But you do make a good point
i actually really like the new designs, the only ones i dont like are Dudunsparce and wiglet/wugtrio. i already hated alolan diglett and its no different here, its a 2nd alolan diglett, nothing more. dudunsparce on the other hand is just offensive, it comes off as an april fools joke.
