On this day I call upon the beast
May your name and deeds never be forgotten, again
    Never to be condemned
    Never to be bound
And the power which you bear may never be sealed by prejudice
and let no man use the blindness of the mind as an excuse

The beast lives in me and I struggle to find balance for it feels so good to let the beast out fully and i feel hole but violent and drove by instinct and cravings but when it's suppressed I feel hollow and empty and with out much of my power i need to find somewhere in the middle I also feel like my mind is blinded when the wolf in me is suppressed I need control or just to let the wolf run free and wild

I often wonder about the characterization of wolves as the aggressive. wild and violent side of nature. I have a wolf, he is intelligent gentle and extremely playful. He is mischievous if he is ignored but when he is part of the activity he thrives and is less aggressive than an ordinary dog. He hates confinement and to be alone. He has allowed a rescued duckling to sit right next to him and eat out of his bowl. My cats will rub up against him purring. Wolves are far superior to humans in controlling their behavior.

It's probably because in medieval Europe wolves were said to be less shy than they are now, and very common - and if humans would stray in the woods unarmed or poorly armed, chances were higher that a wolf or a pack would snatch a child in away for an easy snack. Though since humanity thinned out the woodlands, and developed more dangerous weapons, wolves grew more withdrawn and stayed away from humans. That's why people are still afraid of wolves these days, even though wolves don't really form much of a threat for humans anymore.

For those who are interested in the topic, Roderick Dale wrote a thesis on the Berserkers that gives details about this cult. He basically analyzed several literary sources referring to them and backed their existence with archaeological findings. He also raised an important question, did the berserkers go berserk? The answer is no, berskangr was not induced by mushrooms like it was often presumed, but a ritual that helped these warriors to conjure this animalistic nature before the battle. Berserkers existed but not the way literature depicted them.

I was a very wild child, it took me a very long time to learn to control my temper and rage. I found a better release for those energies as I reached adulthood, but never quite controlled my curiosity. The violence is under control, but the wanderlust calls me all the time. I have also found archery is quite calming.

There is something primal and profoundly... human, when an individual connects to and outwardly expresses the wolf. The two of us have a long and deeply spiritual relationship woven through time. I highly recommend everyone to, at least once a year, find some solitude and snarl, howl, growl, flex your fingers and curl them into offensive claws. Run. Just let that animal side of you STRETCH for a moment! Then meditate, breathe, connect to the environment and realize yourself back to the 'docile' human we are most of the time. It is such a healthy engagement with release.
It's probably going to feel really stupid and weird at first but just immerse yourself and your mind will switch. It is part of the human experience we should not ignore it ❤

Hello, I admire your videos a lot!
I loved this one specifically and I have a reflection: Fenrir is the rage put in chains by Odin’s request, and Odin (specifically Wotan) is the deity connected with anger in battle... can you talk a little about it? What would Odin intended with this attitude? And later, the rage itself in a figure of Fenrir killed Odin... I think the uncontrolled rage destroys us, of course, but I would like to hear your point of view. Thank you very much!

Very interesting point of view! And one much more logical than Odinn and Laufeys Son being diametric oppositions. The chaining of Fenris as allegory for an age of "enlightenment", or Odinn recognising he must utilise a cooler head in order to prevent the Twilight is fascinating.

Okay, I left my home for several times in almost 2yrs and went camping in the wild for 6 to 7 days each time. My reason for this is that I am feeling prisoned in my appartment and I need space and the relaxed energy of the forest and/or the ocean. Even staying on the streets of Germany for 5 days gave me such a boost, Talking to people over there, even police officers, to share our thoughts of the world... Sometimes I just need to go, it feels like a certain energy is with me than and that it truly feels like a call... Even overthinking this call by going to sleep first before you go is already changing the vibe and the positive outcomes I felt...

    So many things
First, I refuse to place trust in those who deny in words, action, or attitude, the existence of their shadow. The most terrible things in the history of mankind have been done by those who believe that they act only for the for the 'greater good'. One of my greatest struggles is to accept & control my shadow.
Second viewing the universe as duality of things, it is important to notice that the only aesir to not withdraw from Fenrir in fear was the god of honor & order Tyr. Perhaps he understood the duality of their nature's?
Great video thank you for putting this information into gnostosphere.

I would say that we have gone too far, you said violence is a bad thing, I feel we have forgotten that the real problem with violence is(to quote the Dali Lama) its unpredictable consequences. Controlled violence with good intentions can be very positive, think of hammering a nail into wood in order to build something. Whereas a simple smile can cause great pain and destruction when the intention is malicious.

A very credible explanation of the more proficient warrior class of aggressive tribal people, like the Norse and Celts. (No insult intended as I have both in my ancestry). You adeptly filled in historical 'gaps', like how this separate class of ferocious fighters would most certainly have to be kept isolated from the rest of their tribe. I feel sad for these wolf/bear warriors. Their humanity was stripped , albeit for the salvation of the rest of their people, but then they were shut away like dangerous war dogs, unable to ever enjoy the life they had killed for. They remind me of how the great Irish Wolfhound nearly went extinct, and why. They had been used as consummate large game and wolf killers; and also as battle dogs as they were huge enough to pull a man down off a horse. When people became 'civilized', and the need for these huge hounds to hunt and kill large targets ended, they were allowed to simply die out. Excellent documentary Arith, I really did enjoy it. Thank you.

As one who was a full time traveler for the last four plus years. I can not even tell begin to tell the most authentic and primal feel that I had felt around a bonfire one night; as we had all gathered in the desert in the southwest of the United States. The drum circle and the beat definitely brings out our most primal self. It was something that I had never experienced, but yet I must have, way back in time. The beat of those drums just had brought out another side of me. I just wished that even though I was in a group of people, I was alone. It would have been an amazing moment if I could have shared it with someone on a mental and even physical plane, but I was alone.
Currently I am in my new small town and will be purchasing off grid land soon. I do realize that the bears in the area tend to sleep in the winter months, but the wolves do not. I have dealt with coyotes before, but wolves are another beast altogether. I don’t even wish to run into one or be surrounded by a pack as I go about my daily chores. Those things definitely, put the fear in me like nothing else will.

Wildness does not equal violence- that is more a human providence but when the wildness in humans is suppressed and not accessed in a healthy way it can re-surface in acts of violent cruelty- episodes like the Mai-Lai massacre and other war atrocities. The same with the repression of sexual instincts, ie the pedophilia prevalent in the catholic church.. I'm glad I stumbled on your channel- really interesting stuff!

I've experienced the same thing my whole life. I've never had friends or family besides my mother who is also just like me. I live in a very rural area and though I am very gregarious, people tend to shy away from me. Even when I was in the military and certain areas of law enforcement, people stayed well away. I'm a gentle person unless pushed. I think people pick up on that in my demeanor and body language. People being inherently lazy find it easier to behave badly and to be unkind as it is too much work to be friendly and well mannered. Knowing that, they tend to avoid people they know that will call them on their shit. It may be a lone wolf type of life, but it is peaceful and pretty much drama free.

There is wisdom in what you say brother. The quickest way for my inter beast to stir is for me to feel threat or anger turned toward me. Some of us do not have a flight mode built into us. There are those, and I am one, that instantly go into fight mode. Learning to control that is hard, but can be done. If cornered and forced to turn loose my inter rage I will fight, but only then as the damage done in those moments take a great time to heal. To restrain is not logical and can not work long term is true. To temper and learn ones limits is better. Control is a razors edge we all stand painfully on from time to time. Never confine your nature, instead learn to control it as best you can. You are very correct that there is a beast inside us each and every one. Even the meekest pup will bight if pushed into it.

I've lived in a world of violence all my life. And I tell you, the same thing Isaac Asimov once said: "Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent." I'm still in a world of violence and violence always finds me, and nothing has been solved with it. There are a thousand ways to solve everything without the use of violence.

If a guy is molesting your child, killing him will end it, it's final and the problem is solved. You can't argue that.
You can hope the courts work, and he may be in jail for a while, and that is a solution, but it may not be final in the long run.
You may go to jail too, but again, it's a final solution.

Hahahaha - nice lil bday present this was >.<
All the wolves are gonna come out to comment on this one.
I grew up in the forest (town of 400 people, and 4 kids my age) My dog Sheba, was mostly my best friend, baby sitter and teacher... Plus, my family name is of course Wolfe.
I didn't always live in that town - but that place always lived within me. So much so, that at 23 I shunned the 'civilized' world and lived in the woods/ outskirts of other small towns and picked fruit and did farming sometimes, when I needed some sort of money. I had some people, who would come check on me and at times give me food - for cleaning and maintaining the land I was living around and had many of these locations, around different towns...
This is my first year of 'going back into civilization' - hence, having the ability to watch these videos.
I struggle in how to bridge these two realities.

After 40 + years living and teaching the Tru Northern Folkway it's refreshing to see one that doesnt expouse the - ill-informed- "Viking lifestyle". So many newbies are flocking to Heathenry out of opposition with Christianity, and some half-assed notion that to be Tru you have to be an insane asshole that worships war, everyone's a warrior ( even those that havent even seen a school yard fistfight and is Valhol bound. Thank you so much for presenting a way to LIVE as a Heathen, rather than awaiting Ragnarockr and it's dubious "gloury".
P.S. - in accordance with the topic of the video, the amount of sympathy for Fenrir ( that I believe is influencing the whole Ulfhednar "fad") is completely baffling...especially when it comes from self-proclaimed Odinists!

@@ArithHärger Arith, excellent video. Many questions, comments... As an animist, do you understand the formation of the universe or the spiritual ecosystem that we are part of forming or formed in what way? If we are connected, if we are not even above or below spiritually speaking compared to the spirits around us and we relate as symbiosis, why do we or they have no access to more energies, abilities manipulating reality or even us? What do you think about the ethereal double, dimensions, akashic registers, portals, sigils, enn's, spells, evocations, invocations, talismans etc to exchange at least energies with spirituality? There is much more between heaven and earth and between our dense vibration and spiritual evolution! Please, as you are animist, your opinion and answer will be very important to me, I believe! I will await your feedback on all this. Cordially, Leonardo do Brasil, soure, Marajó Island Pará

Since I was a young adult, I have made long solo trips into the wilds in Canada. On one trip, I went in November for a month and built a bark shelter to live in. On another trip, I took no food and foraged. I learned to make rope from grass, to weave and to carve and make stone tools. I need these trips to touch my inner beast. I like to be that close to having to survive and fend for myself. I recommend this.

What I got from this video is that I believe everyone has a little bit of that raw primal beast within them. Some can control it better than others and some were born unable to control it, especially in their younger years. But like a werewolf, they can't control when they can or can not transform and they become blood lusted, only controlled by pure emotion and instincts. Then they revert back to human form only to be filled with regret, guilt and sadness. The way I view it is, accepting this side of you and learning to control it and find balance. If this side of you comes out more often, find something that can control it and express that part of you.
