My Pantera Playlist! • Pantera
In this Revolution Is My Name guitar lesson video, I will show you how to play this awesome song by Pantera note-for-note.
The tuning is D standard at 425Hz. I explain the Hertz thing a bit in the video lesson, however, I am teaching the lesson in regular D standard to make it easier to follow along. However, if you want to play along with the original recording, you will need to use a tuner set at 425Hz and then tune your guitar to D standard. That is, starting from the 6th string, D G C F A D.
There are so many killer guitar riffs in "Revolution Is My Name", along with a couple of awesome guitar solos. There are many many unorthodox things happening that can be a bit confusing to the ear. But I will take you through each section in the order that each appears on the original recording and fully explain everything that is going on.

Thanks Carl, happy Friday everyone! It's just amazing the amount of content there is to learn here. When I started playing in 2000 I was printing tabs out at my college library and bringing back to the dorm. 😃 A lot of guys fiddled around with guitar in those days but most lost interest or gave up.
Same, always had a guitar around, but took it seriously around the year 2000 and printed tabs at school to bring home. I have a huge binder full of tabs in clear sheet protector so I can easily flip through them.

Do you think doing it in d# is overkill or acceptable
I think you mean Db (D flat) because Carl is in D standard (not sharp or flat), but because Dime tuned to 428hz rather than the normal 440hz, then Dime had a slightly flat tone when he tuned to standard. If you're using a tuner that only has a 440hz setting then you should tune half way between D standard and Db (flat).
