In the Netherlands the counterpart from Toyota, the bz4x, had three major updates and finally good specs..... . This week was announced that the RZ get these updates as well and a new version, RZ 300e, with 220mls radius, better charging in winter and still 15 years warranty on batteries...... .
    That's not bad, thats good!

That is a fact. I still wouldn’t consider EVs for long range as the tech isn’t there yet and I think hybrids are THE way to go currently.
I also see others trashing Lexus without realizing that A) this is their first EV B) this car is likely more reliable than the other mentioned models which means less likely to deal with expensive battery replacement C) Toyota is also looking at other powertrains other than EVs which is a single minded pursuit considering the potential of hydrogen and synthetic fuel. Not to mention all the pollution and other stuff surrounding the manufacturing of EV batteries.

Seems like a GV60 or a Q4-etron would be a much better buy. BUT, I do really appreciate one thing about this car, and that is the relatively normal interior, DIC, and overall dash setup. It just feels like a normal car. The DIC even has a cowl over it to block sun and keep the screen cool. Why did that disappear from new EVs? It's a good feature--it makes it so you don't have to use as much energy on a bright screen. Bare screens in a car exposed to variable light conditions, seem so dumb to me. Yea you can make them very bright with high contrast to counteract it, but doesn't that take more energy? Just one more solution to a problem that has already been solved for years.

I love Kyle's channels and everything you guys do. I actually own this vehicle. However, I have the premium with 18" wheels. You failed to mention that it is an option to get more range, albeit 220 rated, which is 6 less than the Mach E standard range AWD, yet no automotive journalist has touched that point. I purchased my RZ in Carlsbad, Ca, and drove it back to my home in Mesa, AZ, which is 397 miles. I stopped to DC fast charge twice. First was in Yuma, AZ. and then again once i got to Phoenix. I got 200 miles going 65 on cruise in 107-degree heat.
The build quality of this car is the best I have ever experienced. Remember, Toyota/Lexus is very conservative when adapting new tech. They focus on reliability and dependability, and I don't regret my purchase.

Is it solid? is is fluid in it's motions? Does it have that Lexus feel that makes driving or riding in it a refreshing experience? That's why a lot of people buy cars. Not sure what is going on with the car you tested, but I have owned this vehicle since Dec'23. Does it have great mileage? No, but I typically get 203-209 miles of range and charge on my at home level 2 charger maybe once a week. The car is showing 2.9 miles/Kw. I keep it on the "Normal" setting and sometimes put on the air conditioning (it is Springtime now). Using the current cost for a gallon of gas as well as the "fully loaded" cost per Kw from the electric company, I calculate I'm getting the equivelent of 99.4 MPG. I have no plans to take this (or any other EV on a long road trip). When I do take these trips, I'll get get a free loaner car using the Lexus Reserve program (up to 30 days over 3 years). After that, I'll take my Lexus RX350 gas car on these trips. The car is quiet, quick, comfortable, realiable and loaded with tech. Just had a friend who bought this car earlier in the week and he too loves this vehicle.

If you are talking about efficiency, combined hgwy+city in SUV category. Only Tesla Model Y(AWD, Long Range AWD, RWD) gets more Le/km. If you are looking at whole bev category then only Lucid air touring and pure, Ioniq 6, Model Y and 3 are the only ones more efficient than this/bz4x. They match Model S, EV6, Bolt EV and EUV. It still more efficient than ID4, Ioniq 5, Model X, Mach E and everything from BMW and Audi.

It can also get OTA updates to upgrade the range. I have more of a problem with the charging speed than the range. It'll do better in the city than on the highway anyway. And it would do better with19" tires.

Toyota's EV's (BZ4X, Solterra, Lexus) are all pathetic. Most people trying to road trip these clones will be forced into DC Chargers every 120 miles. Most owners will not be charging past 80 percent and charging again at 15 to 20 percent.
This means most owners of these vehicles on a road trip will be stopping every 110 to 130 miles, then waiting at a charger for 40 minutes OR MORE to add back 110 to 140 miles of range.
Heck, my Mini Cooper SE around town EV (for almost half the price) is a better road trip car than these CLO(w)NeS.
I was at a Drive Electric Event last Saturday. There were a few people considering different brands. They were looking at these Clones. I told them to avoid them like the Plague, they were Toyota fans.
They asked me why, I told them; TERRIBLE RANGE, TERRIBLE DC FAST CHARGING, TERRIBLE AC CHARGING, no way to display the vehicles actual SOC, and priced at a premium compared to its competitors.

130-150 usable miles, fail. My morning commute all round trip figures 51 miles, picking up wife round trip, kids school, 3 miles, my job #1 10 miles, drop wife at work 51 miles, head to job 2, 10 miles……125 miles….and of course I need 80 miles for in and around “fun”…..not time that I can afford sitting at a charger during my busy day, got errands and groceries and meetings to drive to. My Model S is very efficient, my wife and I prefer to maximize its reliability and cost reductions over her TDI. This Lexus can’t keep up with my commute, leaves no time for an emergency run to the doctors office…. I need 250 “guaranteed”miles (that means no matter how fast slow cold or crazy I will always have this range) with 25-30% battery reserve of 75 or so miles.

Akio Toyoda will only has himself to blame for Toyota/Lexus coming in last in the great EV transition race!! How the mighty have fallen!! Back in the 70's, Toyota disrupted the US car industry with cheaper, more efficient products. Now, Tesla - the most American cars on the road - is eating Toyota's lunch. And breakfast. And dinner.

What incentive does Toyota have to sell a competent EV when mass market adoption is pitifully low? None. It’s a transitionary product co-developed with Subaru as a proof of concept to comply with California regulations. Saying they’re incapable of delivering in the future when battery technology actually can keep up with market demand is suggesting the worlds 2nd largest automotive manufacturer doesn’t know how to make cars.
