During Hong Kong's colonial days, my friends and I, three women and three men in our twenties, were hiking in Sai Kung when the hell, oops sorry, when hails as big as golf balls started to fall on our bodies. We ran the hell, yes hell, with our sacks on our heads, out of the wild and onto the road. We stopped a Land Rover of the Hong Kong Garrison with Gurkhas speaking little English. Unable to communicate much, to the horrors of the servicemen, we simply pushed our three girlfriends on board and waved them, the Gurkhas, away. After some internal communications among themselves, the Land Rover drove off, with reluctance on the Gurkhas' faces - well, understandably, they are servicemen and must be on orders to do something else. We met our friends about two hours later and they have nothing but thanks and high praises to the Gurkhas who treated them as much as gentlemen could do in a cramped environment. The kind Gurkhas dropped them in the Sai Kung town area. A delightful piece of memory. Thank you, Gurkhas. You are not only brave soldiers, you are also kind gentlemen when the circumstances justify.

Respect for these young men!
My Grandfather was in 6th Gorkha Unit at World war 2... BritainIndianArmy...🔥🕉️❤️...
why oh why aren’t the British boys this enthusiast. This is a job that could teach you new trades and skills, take you around the whole World with your mates whilst you’re getting paid . There’s no other job like it unless your in a sports team .
Proud of such a group of soldiers.
This is different than USMC. Recruit looks more calm & happy without being yelled 😅
British gurkha's selection is very hard to pass not like usmc where you go in and they help you get stronger and be able to pass you physical fitness test , they have to train on their own to meet the physical requirements and then they start their military training so most gurkha's and physically very fit and disciplined before then even start the training.
The difference is these kids have wanted to join the British army since they could walk. This is a dream come true for every one of them
Thank you so much Gurkahs.
Yam Rye, my old head of security, 27 years in the Brit Army, gave me his hat before he died, I will have it with me always. These fellows are great and they have big shoes to fill, hope they do as well as Yam. I miss him. ThuFrom.a Yank.
if one says he is not afraid to die either he is lying or he is a GURKHA

Jai Hnd.

God save the glorious queen.
I told my Gurkha S,Sgt, even though they are commissioning him rather than being the first Gurkha going through the Foreman of Signals route, "Take the commission, and use it to make sure a Gurkha gets FoS".
I am French from Polynesia and we hear so much "bad things" about English people in France... but eveytime I met English friends or people from England I found that they had a really cool personnality, I connected with them so much more than with French people. I never wanted to join the French military because they don't respect their soldiers, they make them do the dirty work. The people in France don't respect the police and authority... English people seems to be more positive, benevolent, respectful. And also those young guys in the video, so much respect. I guess it's a long message to say: love you English people, never understood why "my" people are so disrespectful.
Proud of you..............
