- How To Midi Map Serato Stems To ANY DJ Controller ! I am using a Pioneer DDJ Rev7 for this Serato stems tutorial, but with this method, you should be able to midi map serato stems to any DJ controller.
Whats up DJ lovers and learners! Back again with another fire video about serato stems update.
In this guide, I will teach you how to use serato stems with any DJ controller.
You will need to midi map serato stems to one of your controllers current functions.
You will still need a good computer for stems to work properly.
The serato 3.0 update is incredible. Serato stems truly changed the entire dj world with this serato update.
Midi mapping DJ controllers is a game changer. You can select any of the serato 3.0 update features like stem and midi map it directly onto your DJ controller to truly make your controller your own.
I midi mapped my pioneer ddj rev 7 with these serato stems.
Another good spot for midi mapping the pioneer ddj rev7 would be to use the top row of cues on the the rev 7 and leaving all of your 8 cue buttons alone.

Dude I have same controller and I connected it thru MIDI and everything but now I press vocals and the vocals go away but it jumps to my hot cue - how do I fix this?

For all of those people having problems with the Numark NS7III, I was having the same problem and tried everything, but this is an alternative that worked :
simply map the stems to your “side vertical cue buttons” they are to the right and left of your decks and they go from 1-5 right below your shift button
The only disadvantage is that you can’t use all the stems effects, you have to choose one
It worked perfectly, I know it’s a bummer but we’re gonna have to use that until an update comes out fixing the issue

The sampler would be one of the last things I'd get rid of. I use that all the time. Slicer is my first to go. What is that even for, anyway?

I have a mixars primo and I don't use the sampler so i tried assigning those 4 pads to the stems. It assigned them but took it the functionality of all the other buttons, cues, slicer etc..... it worked if i used shift and the pad..... Also the light on pad is went off when tapped once and then stayed off.... Still out works well other than that

I have the same numark NS6ii - I want to reassign the sampler section to stems, which works. But it then breaks the pads for all the other sections, such as cue and autoloop - in that section it also turns the assigned stems function on/off. How do i make it only assign when in the sampler section of the hot pads?

cheers mate, all good! i went to start midi mapping and realized that there's now an option in Settings (in later Serato versions) that allows you to do it (on certain controllers) without the mapping (you still have to give up the use of a performance pad set eg- Slicer) But good work on helping out others! Hey Used your tutorial on how to midi map as Serato 3.0 only allowed the replacement of the Sampler Pads which is commonly used by most Djs... Using the NUMARK Mixtrack Platinum FX I was able to remap my Pads under FADER CUTS mode which i use less then the four modes on the hardware. Thank You

I followed the tutorial with the Numark NS7III. when assigned, it changes the control for each tab (cue, auto/roll, loop, etc) not just the one that you choose. Have you heard of this happening to anyone?

I mapped on Denon MC7000 and pad only can use for Stem, no hot cues, no roll, nothing so I need to reset, I mapped on Numark SJ2GO2, it work fine, and I saw many Denon owner has same difficulties

If stems are delayed it's most likely your computer not powerful enough

Wow over 400 comments no one using or mentions the Roland DJ808. I tried to replace the TR/pattern pad buttons but it won't let me and even has the option in setting to use the Roll pads which I use already so this kind of sucks.

I'm trying to remap my Reloop Ready to be able to control the Stems with the pads usually assigned to the Samples.
However, when I assign them to the four pads in the first row of the Samples group, the Steams function is mapped to the four pads in the first row regardless of my selection (hot cue, auto loop, manual loop). reloopready does not have a different mode buttons is more like you press mode button and the pad u want to use hot cue auto loop etc

Something isn't working, but I don't know why. I did exactly what you did, trying to remap stems to the slicer pads on my Rane Seventy-Two, but once I finished, all of my pads are stems. Cue, auto loop, sampler, roll, slicer are all stems now. I deleted the midi settings and tried twice more, but always the same result. Changing slicer to stems changes everything to stems. I eventually gave up and mapped stems to the "user 1" pads, but I have to hold down shift to access that, which is why I want to remap it over slicer. Any ideas?

Doesn't seem to work with Denon MCX8000. I tried to remap the midi, but it disables my cues, rolls, slicer and sampler

Stems doesn’t work on my Rane One. I’ve tried Serato 3.0 and 3.1 stems is very erratic on both. Had to revert back to serato 2.6 Thanks Floyd
You should just be setting stems in your settings on the Rane one

If you can, I have no knowledge of it,
I would assume you can only do this with mixer settings on your own end

I’m having the same issue with Rane One to. when I click on the stems tab and assign it to a midi pad it gives me the option to choose between overriding the pad or adding an additional function to that pad. I tried both options! I some clarity on this please!

Feb 2024, sl3 box isnt supported with the stems update version 3.0. i have Tech 1200s, Pioneer djm 909 ,sl3 box, Pioneer sp1 controller, i believe i have to upgrade to denon ds1 to get serato v3.0, but how do you operate hot cues AFTER the hot cue pads on the pioneer sp1 are changed to operate stems ... I need to know this BEFORE i piss away $$$ for Denon ds1 box...PLEASE Help

Somehow on my s9. My cross.fader keeps removing vocals from every song. It's ridiculous. I cannot figure out how to disable this. I recently installed serato video and haven't used the mixer since. I just had a gig I had to do . 500 people and I had to use the vertical faders. If I touched the cross fader it immediately removed vocals and bright them back on its own schedule. Drove me insane. Any help ?

Hey I have a roland dj 707 m controller I am unable to do the midi map on this controller whenever I do the midi map it takes over all the buttons

I did this with my Pioneer DDJ-SZ2 it works but is a bit chopy. when I look at the screen on the jog wheel, it is going in slow motion. how do I revert back? I don't like it. and I know is not my laptop because i have a mAcbook Pro, M2 chip, 32gb memory & 2Tb ssd. I dj'a a wedding with it and I was afraid the program was going to crash or somethin'

I tried the MIDI map steps with an NS7ii but there’s no way to do it. This controller doesn’t work with any Serato past 2.6 where stems isn’t available to map . Therefore might want to update your vid bc you cant do it with any controller outside the units that can run Serato 3.0 or later

I got it working on my Roland dj 505. Could anyone tell me how to Re map a knob that is not in Serato just on my controller? My drum machine knob stopped working in Serato. It works when not connected and my Cue/master knob is not functioning as it should either. This happened when messing with midi mapping so I’m sure I changed the function of these but I can’t get them back. Thank you for the great video and all of your help

I own a denon 3900 using serato but I can't seem to midi map the start / toggle / pitch but the cue buttons are mapped but the rest are not even showing up. Do you know if stems is not recognizing this controller

Split cue only works on the s11 tho
Vocal echo, instrumental echo, instrumental braker, and drums echo. Theses are the effects under the stems you mapped. There awesome if they can be mapped as well.

I'm have a Numark platinum fx controller and I programmed the stem to my fader cuts but it's still on my sample button as well. I tried going into preferences and click on replace primary hardware pad mode with stem but I only have a sampler option and I can't switch it to nothing else. I'm having trouble keeping stem on fader cuts and sample on sample at the same time. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I don't really know anything about stems on fader cuts
But you should just reset to default,
And start again
Change only the ones you want
But reset to default and set it how you want

I used stems and my PC overheated I have a DDJ-REV1

My issue with stems is after i finished analyze all the songs i want to use then go to play it,it play only for a while then no sound..anyone have any idea on how to fix that
I dunno man, I've never had an issue what so ever with stems
My only advice is get a better computer,
Or don't use stems
There is 0 issues with stems itself inside of serato
It's a board or computer problem
I tried mapping stems on DDJ SB3. I used the infamous Pad Scratch bank. Now, when I try to use stems, it controls the stems, pad scratch, and cue points at the same time. HELP
Did you get the official releasE?
I would start there first for sure
Than reset to default and try again

i seem to have the same problem with my Numark NS6ii - I want to reassign the sampler section of the pads, which works - but all my other sections such as cue and loop now toggle the stems feature

I tried to remap the mixar primo on the slicer. stems works but it also took over hot cue roll slicer and sampler. So I just mapped the sync buttons as echo fade. Need help!!

i have the numark platinum fx and it will only let me set my pad mode to my sampler function but i want to use my samples too. when i did the midi remapping it set that pad no matter what mode it was on for this function so that does not work either. i need help haha thank you

I don't know much about that board but it seems like it's locked for alpt of people to make changes

If you can't map, there's lots of options of way you can do
Is it possible to Midi map your stems to an Elgato Stream Deck or to some kind of beatpad? I am having a similar issue where I can use hot cues OR use stems, but I can't use both.
Well as long as it's midi mappable
I'm not 100% on stream deck, but literally anything else that does midi
Bear pads and stuff 100% you can
But stream deck I dunno

Somehow, one of the midi functions attached to my crossfader. How do I’ve reverse that?
There's a reset to default right on that same spot
Make sure to SAVE
I dunno about specifically reversing that,
But just reset to default and start again

I have a pioneer s7 I want to have my cue points on the top 4 & stems on the bottom 4 is this possible i tried to set stems on the bottom it didnt work

Only the s11 to my knowledge

But you can't split the cues
Super annoying cause ingot a rev7

Nah bro, didn’t work like you demonstrated. It put stems on all of the selections of buttons. Cue, auto loop, sampler , loop and slicer. I did it actually how you described. I have a Numark NS 7 iii. Please advise thank you.

From what I've read, that isn't supported.

You can midi map any button,
But I can't confirm
If it's not supported, you'll have to map it
