      Appreciate it G! I am an 80s baby so 90s 2000s is where my heart is with music. I was more into rapping and producing, was always a big fan of DJs like Jazzy Jeff and DJ Premier and DJ Scratch etc etc. But I always thought a turntable set up would be too expensive for me to buy and learn. But I definitely wish I had started sooner for sure cause I love it! I appreciate the love. Im just a few years in and very much just trying to learn a lot and study the greats and have a little fun with it! Thanks for rockin w me! 💪💪

      Are you talking about Clean versions? (No bad words?) For me, I found the best 90s selections at DJ City (also, Beatsource) and Xtendamix. DMS also has good choices. Its a little tricky as a lot of record pools can be somewhat limited on old school music so you kind of have to rotate through a lot of them to build a diverse collection. I've been doing it for years and Im still not satisfied with my 90s collection. But almost all record pools will have clean versions of just about every song they offer. Cheers!

      @@DJTeddyJetts dj jetts, I got a question? Is it possible that I need to analyze my music on my rane one because I'm noticing when I'm scratching it seems like it's some kind of latency when I'm getting ready to scratch 🤔 I haven't analyzed any of my music yet😮please let me know your opinion 🙏🏾

    • @DJTeddyJetts
      @DJTeddyJetts  3 місяці тому

      @ignoranceisnotatrend4669 I do recommend analyzing all of your music before playing. It takes a while but its worth it. That can possibly fix some latency issues. I did also feel like my Rane One had latency problems when I would try to scratch as well. I think its more of a processor issue in your laptop.

  • @regularlyscheduledprogramming
    @regularlyscheduledprogramming Рік тому +2

    Don't know why my other comments disappeared but good on your for scratching into transition like the chirp to baby scratch between Faith Evans and Color Me Badd. Scratching on beat takes practice and many newer DJs just stick to EQ or FX mixing.

    not a big RNB fan but LOOOOVE the Rane One. I got mine and think it's the coolest controller due to it's classic design and excellent build quality. Hardware effect would be better but it's no a deal beaker. No i don't work for Rane hehe. I am learning how to Dj and will hopefully upload a Tech house Mix soon! go Rane One DJ's

    • @DJTeddyJetts
      @DJTeddyJetts  7 місяців тому +1

      Agree 100% about the Rane one. They really did fumble the ball by not adding hardware fx but like you said, not a deal breaker and they made up for it with every single other thing about the controller being absolutely excellent quality! Sadly, I've had to sell mine since making this video due to economic hard times but when I recover, I would totally buy another Rane One again. If not just go ahead and upgrade to the Rane 12s. Hopefully Rane comes out with a motorized follow up to the One. I was really disappointed that the Rane Four went back to static platters. Oh well. Welcome to the DJ Journey and good luck to you! One of the absolute funnest hobby/side gigs I ever made the choice to start! Ill subscribe to your channel and be on the look out for your Tech House mix! Rock on brother! 🤘

    Question: I'm thinking of getting a Rane One , so I checked out this video. The line volume slides on 1 and 2 are all the way up. You can't push them up any further. But in between songs you are constantly pushing them up, although they don't move and can't go up up any further. Is there something wrong with the controller/mixer that makes you have to keep putting pressure on them upward? Or is that some type of effect adjustment through the volume line control that works if you keep pushing them upward even though they aren't moving? Thanks.

      Thank you! Yea, I play a small club on friday nights, I finally started using stems live just last night and the crowd loved the mashups!
      For the mapping, it's super easy. In the Serato update, you dont even have to mess with the midi mapping settings, they added the setting. I just set my stems pad mode to replace the slicer pad mode. I know not every rig has a slicer mode so I would recommend just deciding whatever pad mode doesnt really get used practically and replacing it with stems. So it doesnt even affect my cue points, sampler, beatjump, etc... 2023 gonna be lit!

    Awesome mix!! I've been wanting to post my mixes on UA-cam, but every time I do, I get it taken off. Some of the tracks you're using are the same ones on my mixes. What are you doing differently?

    • @DJTeddyJetts
      @DJTeddyJetts  Рік тому

      Thank you! I have actually had a few mixes that were taken off when I first started, but I was mixing music videos then... now, are you sure your mixes are being taken off? People often confuse a copyright claim and a copyright strike. UA-cam does not mind if you make music mixes, you just have to waive your right to monetize the videos and the copyright owners will gain any monetization they earn...which is fair. But I get this question all the time and I find that other people who post music, they see that red exclamation point and automatically think they are in trouble. But you only get in trouble if you attempt to make money from other people's music. Otherwise you simply forfeit any possible profits. Also it depends on your country. Most of my mixes are banned in countries like Russia and China. But overall it's fair game. You will run into an occasional song that will get your mix taken down...usually strict copyright owners like Prince or even some Ariana Grande, but for the most part, I have been allowed to post whatever I want. And even though my mixes are not monetizable...the subs and views they have earned did in fact allow me to enable monetization on future videos...which is why I have not posted anymore mixes as I want to develop ideas to make videos on this channel that will actually earn me some money. If that makes sense. Appreciate the love and I hope this explanation answers any questions you may have about posting mixes.

      It’s not just him. Almost every DJ does it because there’s nothing to do between mixes. They feel that they have to look “busy” in order to not look “boring”. In real life, nothing goes on between transitions. You could add effects and scratch during a song but you’re just taking away from the music and annoying the audience.

    • @DJTeddyJetts
      @DJTeddyJetts  Рік тому

      This is a common question. One you need to look at what kind of "flag" you are getting. A copyright claim is NOT a copyright strike. A copyright claim is nothing more than a way for the copyright holder to be able to make money from you using their content. It disables you from monetizing that specific video but does not count against your eligibility to monetize your channel and non copyright content. Some songs may trigger your video to be blocked in some countries or globally but I find that it isn't common unless you use music videos along with the audio. Most of my videos are banned in Russia but that is mostly due to UA-cam banning monetization there full scale.
      So again. You need to look at your flags and examine them closely on a laptop or desktop. If it is only a copyright claim ajd your video shows listed as public or only partially blocked, then you can still post that video and it is NOT illegal. Of course different countries have different laws but that is at least how it works in USA. Many people get scared seeing that copyright claim but that is actually not a bad thing as the rightful owners get paid if your video is watched and therefore you are helping to support the music you love. Most importantly I was still able to join the monetization Partner Program despite all of my content so far being copyright claimed.

    How do you do a mix on UA-cam and not have copyright restrictions or the copyright strike against you?

    • @DJTeddyJetts
      @DJTeddyJetts  2 роки тому +4

      This is such a common misconception about UA-cam copyright laws. You only get a copyright strike if you try to pass off copyrighted material as your own. Simply playing copyrighted music, especially in a DJ set is only subject to a copyright CLAIM, in which the owner of the copyrighted material will have the option to monetize the video, while the youtube channel will NOT be able to monetize that specific video. So lots of DJs post their mixes on youtube and its a great way to grow a channel. But if I ever want to monetize I will have to create videos that dont contain music. If I join the partner program and post a mix and try to have it monetized, THEN I will get a copyright strike for attempting to make money off of someone elses material. A handful of my videos are restricted and cant be watched, usually in places like Russia or China. Other than that, I get views all across the world. Its a great way to practice, grow my channel, and have content I can direct potential clients to so they can see what a DJ does in a typical sense. 😁

    How are you able to play copy written music without getting a strike

    • @DJTeddyJetts
      @DJTeddyJetts  Рік тому +3

      People ask this all the time. UA-cam does not forbid you from playing copyrighted music. You just cant monetize the video for yourself, but the copyright holder will get any money earned. But it also doesnt stop you from using the views and watch time to make yourself eligible for monetization. My channel is monetized from these videos, if I put out non dj mixes, I can be paid. UA-cam only blocks copyrighted music if the copyright holder requests the video be taken down. But most of them just choose to take the revenue. But when you post you need to check the copyright claim to see which songs may get the video blocked. Theres also the option to buy the rights to each track individually to be able to play and monetize. As long as I dont try to make money from my DJ MIXES, it is perfectly fine and actually helps support the actual copyright holders when my video gets decent views.

    • @DJTeddyJetts
      @DJTeddyJetts  2 роки тому

      Well there are different types of copyright flags. Some songs will get your entire video blocked globally. Some will just have a claim that prevents you from monetizing the video but the rights holder still allows you to post it and they then have the option to monetize your video. Some claims will block your video in specific countries. Yes all my mixes have copyright claims on them. But it doesnt prevent me from using those videos to grow my channel and I still got accepted into the UA-cam Partner Program, so now if I post non music content, I can monetize my videos even though all of my content is currently copyrighted music.

    Nothing personal to you, but I don't really agree with this stems upgrade. A lot of these new releases take away the creativity and personality of the DJ and it becomes automated. GOOD MIX!! In my opinion, DJs are really competitive when they have the STUDIO QUALITY stem tracks.

    • @DJTeddyJetts
      @DJTeddyJetts  2 роки тому +3

      I understand where you are coming from. I think its a glass half full glass half empty situation personally. Meaning. On one end, stems are in their infancy as far as live mixing is concerned, so theres a lot of flaws and a lot of resistance and speculation as to where this feature will ultimately lead the DJ industry. On the other hand, the entire history of DJing has been plagued with doubt over the new innovations that enter the scene. The pioneer CDJ wasnt always revered. The CROSSFADER wasnt always revered and Serato Is still a point of debate over reverance among the masters among DJs for the most part... the reality is, things change and advance. And the birth of new things is rarely pretty. Heck, even our own births are full of pain, blood, and mistakes... so I think we can get caught up in seeing the negative of new things and it prevents us from seeing how it will eventually blossom into a beautiful evolution.
      I agree. Having quality studio acapellas and instrumentals has traditionally been the best way for one to set themselves apart from the crowd as a DJ. And that isnt going away anytime (too) soon. But we also must embrace innovation. As it is birthed literally from that which we love traditionally already. And in the long run. Having technology advance in such a way, in its highest form, you will see that when live stems does reach a studio quality within the next 5 years or so. It isnt going to make mashups too easy as much is it is going to make really good DJs be able to do some really amazing things.
      So view the glass as half full. Its the only way to go. Stems is here to stay. And yes it will make mediocre DJs like me put out some good, and some sub par content, and I will continuously work on getting better. And for anyone else who works on getting better (or is already amazing) they are going to produce things for the world that are going to be extremely fun to see. And that's ultimately the most important thing. Big loves! 💗

    • @DJTeddyJetts
      @DJTeddyJetts  2 роки тому +3

      And on another note. I am NOT a fan of automated mixing. I dont know where stems falls into that. But when I say automated, I think of softwares that will literally try to mix for you, do the EQ for you, or even pick the next songs for you, etc... i think those features are dangerous for the craft. We already have robots being cashiers at grocery stores. Robot DJs does not sound fun at all.

      I hear non DJs say this bs all the time... but very few djs actually do what you are saying. The problem is the general public doesnt know what all the buttons and knobs do as they are not all sound related. Sometimes you cant tell if a DJ actually hit a button because all the buttons are clicky and some times we are just turning a knob to select a new song and you cant tell we actually turned it. Sure theres 1 or 2 anticipation "touches" or if we are thinking about pulling an fx trigger or changing our mind about the next song, but you need to look at my video again. The only thing I touched without actually moving it was my cross fader...you need to know what the buttons and knobs do before you assume they are being touched and not used... not every knob makes an obvious sound for the listener and could be something as un noticeable as asjusting the songs tempo to match the new song.

But all I have experienced so far are your commenting skills, your triggered skills, and your negativity... i know I'm not that good of a DJ yet. But I'm not a sync DJ and you need to calm tf down. I never rode a horse buggy either, does that mean Im not qualified to drive a car? I played on turntables when I was a kid in the '90s... my dad was busy killing people and my mom was poor and I didnt have a foundation or confidence to build my skills at that time. I did other things in music and only a few years ago turned to DJing after 20+ years of dabbling.
      Post your dope mixes dumbass... you dont have to be here for "likes" son... you can make money here fool. Instead of being busy getting pressed about me. You should see a mediocre DJ getting views and realize if you're that much better than me, and I am sure you are, you can blow up and monetize your platform.
      Notice the difference in our messages? Wtf you so bitter about? You're a dickhead, I get it. Round of applause.
      Is that why you scared to post content? Cause of dickheads like you? Whatever, im subbed to your channel so whenever you're done with your little tantrum. Show us what you got and stfu.

      "Im not here for likes baby girl."
      Im still not sure why the fuck you here at all! Posting comments aint furthering your career. Hating on other DJs also not furthering your career. Im tellin you Im not the fking one... dudes like you will get slapped in the mouth talkin like that in real life. And you know that... i dont know who hurt you but it wasnt me. Cant wait to hear you mix. Thanks for supporting the channel.
