  • I took the Pentax 17 film camera on a ride around Lake Tahoe. I took a bunch of pictures and came back with some updated impressions of the camera.

I came here to look for some motivation. Thanks for showing your bike ride and Beautiful landscape scenery. I bought the same camera recently. I loaded it with hp5 and put a yellow filter. Next is, i just need to go out and take some photos.

Good thing STP wasn't this past weekend. We were over 100 three days in a row here in Vancouver, WA. 103 yesterday. Have a safe ride.

Yeah the first thing I was thinking when I saw your photos was auto mode vs P+distance. I've seen some people get extraordinarily sharp photos from this camera, and I've seen others post a bunch of out of focus images. I'm assuming the difference is from getting not using auto and getting the distance correct.

Im a retired photographer media person, I was wondering how you get your film developed-processed
I was surprised Pentax came out with a film camera, I has a very used Pentax K1000 when I was taking photography classes in the late 1990's
Back then we learned to develop our own film, print our own pictures, don't miss the smell of the chemicals but I always enjoyed the process.
I got back into bicycles about two years ago and just started doing longer rides, did 62km-47 miles for my 62nd Birthday (I was born in 1962 it just seemed the thing to do)
Back in the early 90's I lived in Roseville so I'am familiar with a lot of the riding areas up there, I was into Mountain bikes with there 26 inch tires 😀
I moved away in 1995 right before the area started growing I remember when Lincoln was so small if you blinked you missed it.
! always enjoyed a trip around lake Tahoe especially on a nice day and the lake is clam.
I still dust my camera off it's a Sony a6600 nice little camera still takes great images and video.

I process and scan color and black and white film at home. For color, I use CineStill's C41 kit, a two-chemical process that has worked very well for me. It takes a little longer than BW, and you need to pay attention to temperature, but with practice you'll get results that I think are as good as the local pro labs.

I have seen those kits and the big black changing bag, I was one of the last students to take the color film class at my local college, I had to take my color film to a film place to have it develop, that was before these kits came along, I come from the old wire reel users. 😆 in college I was shooting around 6-8 rolls of B/W film per week, I needed the big developing tanks.

Mostly in P (daytime, no flash) mode. As I mention, I think it works a little better than the "A" mode.
