We're so happy to be a part of the launch of this exciting new camera! It was a surreal experience to unbox a brand new film camera from a legendary manufacturer like you. Kudos to you, Ricoh Pentax!! 💙📷- Connor
Always nice to see Lukasz. I enjoyed this video so much. Seeing the pair of pictures made me really want to get this camera. Beautiful work, camera, photos, video. Congrats to everyone
Should be receiving mine today. Excited to use it, but honestly, I’m even more excited that Pentax launched a NEW film camera. THAT is why I purchased this camera. And if they build a new K1000 equivalent, I’ll buy that too. Thank you Pentax!!!! 😊
What a cool walk about! I was in Tokyo a couple months ago, and in terms of atmosphere, my walks there were very similar to yours! So that was an added bonus in watching the video 👍🏼. I had my Polaroid I-2 when I was there. A film camera as well, though the dynamics were a bit different in that I got relatively quick feedback on my photographs. I’m so happy Pentax has made this camera! A brand new film camera! What a joy! I’ll be getting one for sure! Thanks for the fun video. ❤
I'm very happy that Pentax has made such a big step and created their first film camera after a long time. I hope there's more coming soon, maybe even an SLR with autofocus (by any chance?).
I'm so glad I started my photography journey with Pentax! From my K10D, to trying my hand with film with a Spotmatic F and ME Super. Now my current camera the K-5II. Will I go back with the new film camera? Probably not. But for this next generation this is their chance to experience film with a new film camera made specifically for them! Way to go Pentax!
I really dislike 1/2 frame vertical cameras but I am considering blowing money on this. Not to actually use it but rather solely to support Pentax in hopes of a more pro level camera in the near future. 35mm FF, 645, 6x7 etc.
I'm so glad the 17 is selling well, half frame is not for me but I'll be watching you for a full frame option around the similar price. I don't need autofocus but I would like traditional manual focus. Too much to ask for the price: probably but maybe in time.
I have my Spotmatic SP II and it was love at first sight. There is something on it that I cant stop using it... I don't even use my Sony a7r anymore lol...
half frame vibs..i love it. I haven't touched film since high-school ( remember the dark room smells ) but I already got my fun street camera the fuji v100.. and this is $899.00 aud. ouchies!
I've only been doing photography for about 10 years and all the recommendations were to go digital because you get instant feedback on the screen so you could correct yourself on the spot and not have to get a roll of film developed to find out you made a mistake which can get costly. I have been looking into film for a few months now and I've decided i want to go medium format and the pentax 67ii is my dream camera, however the pentax 67ii goes for astronomical prices on ebay to the point where i will probably never be able to get one. Pentax, can you please work on designing a new modern medium format film camera in either 645, 67 or 69 with interchangeable lenses. The fact that the 67ii is demanding a crazy price means that there is a huge demand for a medium format film camera. Thank You
Well. First of all I'm happy and excited Pentax pulled this off. Thank you Pentax and Ricoh! Buuuuuut I was a little astonished when I saw the retail price here in Germany (which is 550€ as of now). The camera looks kind of cheap - and there's nothing wrong with that as they wanted to start with a cheaper beginner camera - but that's not a beginners price. I don't believe that's magnesium on there, probably metalized plastic. I haven't got my hands on one yet (if I understood correctly sales start tomorrow) but from different reviews and videos there seem to be a lot of plastic parts. I feel like they have to get up to speed and work out some little issues like the battery screw not being captive, the front and back leatherette look completely different and who knows what the first week will bring. The lens mechanism seems to be ready for autofocus (at least I can't see a reason to move the lens back and forth every shot otherwise). I would have loved to buy one to support the cause but that's too expensive for a camera I don't want just to support the project. TKO mentioned in one of his updates this was going to be something different and not for the traditional Pentax shooters so I'm not too disappointed. So I wait and hope for the best, may this camera sell well and make a foundation for greater cameras to come. I have enough ME Supers to get through a few more winters ;)
a full frame, manual, k-mount SLR needs to happen! professional and amateur photographers aren't worried about you guys borrowing from an old design, we just want something reliable and new, maybe some new features. I love you guys for making a new film camera, but I did not buy, because of half-frame and fixed lens. I would buy a new full frame 35mm without hesitation, and if it were with k-mount, that would be even more special.
I'm curious about how Pentax set the camera program. We all knew that: Aperture: F3.5 - F16 Shutter: 4s - 1/350s 1. When set to no flash P mode, when it is in low light, will it limit the shutter at 1/30s and warn you it is insufficient light, or it will go all the way down to 4s? 2. When set to Bokeh mode, using ISO 400 film under sunny day, will it shoot at F3.5 with 1/350s, or it will shoot at F16 with 1/350s? 3. When set to no flash Night mode, will it always prioritize shutter to 4s? or any range?
yes, but like the 1/4-20 screw located on the optical axis or located at one end (usually right side) of the camera, like on vintage slrs and similar film cameras?
I can't roll my eyes hard enough at this soon-to-be epic fail. I mean....they released something new...so there's that. But they released a well-made crappy camera. Well done Pentax. The only hope I have is that it keeps people buying the film to go in it. Just for reference....I spent less than 500 bucks on a Leica R6.2 with a Summicron 50 f/2...... I spent less than this for a Nikon FM2.... I spent less than this for a Full Nikon F kit with three lenses. I can place some hope on the phrase from Pentax's release video: "The first in a line of new cameras from Pentax".....please tell me you'll make something better on round two.

BIG day for film everywhere! 👏👏👏
Thank you for making this happen, you deserve all the respect Pentax!
Excellent, Pentax. Thank you. Make sure Ricoh develop a great film scanner to go with it! Dave Healey ARPS
How long has it been since a major electronics manufacturer released a film camera? This is a huge deal, super excited! 🎉
If we didn't act now, there was a real risk that the knowledge of how to produce a film camera could have been lost forever...
i love pentax and what they stand for! Wishing you all the best and success

Thank goodness for an original manufacturer like Pentax.
Just bought one, I can’t wait for it. It will arrive today

I am really looking forwards to this. Thanks for making this happen. Film as a format deserves to live on!
Cool camera! Happy to see Lukasz show us the ropes with it. :)
Thanks for watching! :)
Super excited for this camera! Maybe we can get a new Ricoh GR1 film camera in the future?!
Great video, great new camera. But, who is the reviewer in Tokyo who does most of this video? I didn't see his name anywhere.
Thanks for letting us know - Lukasz from @eyexplore has now been added to the description.
Me alegro por la iniciativa de Pentax!!! Así podré renovar mi querida Pentax ME Super :)
I'm all in!
Can’t wait! Congrats Pentax team!
Bringing film back!!

Fantastic design. Feels very classic Pentax, but some with great modern elements. Looking forward to trying it out.

New Pentax LX 2.0 would be amazing. Bill Cunningham snapped with a half frame camera.
Hopefully this will be followed by a medium-format (645 or 67) SLR. I would pre-order one in a heartbeat!

Here waiting for the preorder link ❤
Me too!

I just came from Nikon Z6 III launch but let's go Pentaaaax! I want a new film camera!

Half frame camera is nice but the limit of the lens I hope reflect on the price point. Interesting design
Ich glaube mein ORWO Film springt vor Spannung gleich aus der Verpackung ;)
Awesome it looks really good 😍

Where can i order mine?
is the grip removable?
The grip is where the battery is housed, and also provides a good counter movement when winding on the film 📷
so I guess no
Why are you eating on the train? 🙃

what's the tripod mount situation on the camera?
Very sturdy tripod mount! And there's a remote shutter release socket too

Everything was so underexposed. Surprised in auto it didn’t do a better job of metering. I shoot with a Pentax 645 and the meter is excellent
I appreciate this and I love my 67 but $500 for a half frame with a fixed lens is looney tunes.
Make film afdordable, if not this is an expensive toy.
