James and Maso, I love your podcast and everything you guys put out. I was recently cheated on by a girl I was with for in total a year and she was cheating the whole time. I did so much for her and her two kids when I could’ve been focusing that attention to my own 3 kids. And I let her meet them and they loved her so finding that out killed me and my kids aren’t happy about her not being here anymore and I don’t know how to explain relationships and cheating to a 6, 5 and 3 year old. Your content always brings me up to a better mood and I just appreciate you two doing what you love and sharing it with the world.
i love ray winstones terrible accent and he's like i've lived in the shadows while also flashing up pictures with like every world leader for the past 30 years
This movie should have come out between Infinity War and Endgame at the latest. This would have made so much more sense than Captain Marvel. Captain Marvel was written out of Endgame because she is too overpowered and the movie wasn't about her but the original crew. It would have made so much more sense to tell a Black Widow story at that point before the character dies in Endgame. Releasing Captain Marvel felt more like a response to Wonder Woman than an actual story they felt they needed to tell at that point.
I fully agree except for the reason they released capt marvel. It was a sweet middle finger to all the misogynistic dickheads that r plaguing the internet. But ya, the black widow movie could’ve done the same thing, if not more
Hugh Jackman will of course be appearing as the hotly anticipated character Jake Bohner, Ralph's Uncle. What other character would they have him play? That'd just be a waste of time if he played somebody else, wouldn't it?
Probably in a flashback, where you see Jake teaching little Ralph a bad habit that's likely to get him in trouble later in life, talking shit to Witches and female superheroes.
I really enjoyed Black Widow! - I have no complaints - it felt like a perfect balance to me - of action, comedy, and some genuinely heartfelt moments This film surprised me - I wasn’t expecting to care so much for her fake family - but I did! - and the scene where her sister is explaining that her childhood was real to her was very well delivered by the actress and choked me up Loved this film!!
My biggest, and kind of only, criticism with Black Widow is the same criticism I had with Luke Cage and Iron Fist. It could have and should have been a joint movie or series with Hawkeye. It would have been a nice change of pace for Marvel, especially if we had gotten it years ago, that we're only now getting and it would have dealt with and fleshed out the two characters.
I disagree - it was time for her to get her solo spy story ..even if the supporting cast was what I thought made this movie great She needed this film by herself since Disney has mucked up the female super hero movie - now that she has a solo presence bring in Hawkeye or whoever else - but the first one needed to be her
@@playmakersc12k82 Plus they already had plans for the Hawkeye series not to mention we already had plenty of them interacting with each other in past films. And then you have Endgame which wrapped that story up. So the last thing they needed to do was have them together again after we had already seen the conclusion in Endgame and while Hawkeye is about to get his own solo series. So it would have been completely unnecessary to have him be in it. As all they would be doing is taking more of the spotlight away from Natasha and putting it on Clint when Clint is about to get the main spotlight of his own series. Not to mention you already have a great dynamic with Natasha and her sister and the rest of her "Family". If you have Hawkeye also be in the film then he's just gonna feel tacked on and like a 5th wheel or your gonna take away a lot of the focus on the family so either way one of them is gonna end up getting the shaft. And then you have what happens in the post credit which again couldn't even happen if you include Hawkeye in this film. As it would make zero sense for that ending to happen if Yelena was just working with Clint and saw how close Natasha and Clint are. So why would she at all believe she was killed by Clint. Or even if she thought maybe he did if the two knew each other already they Clint could probably very easily defuse the situation. The only other option would to have Yelena not even be in this film or just in the flashback which would just be dumb if your trying to set her up as the next Black Widow type character in the MCU. She needs to be in this film so that the fans can actually get to know and like her as a character.
Would have made very little sense to have Hawkeye in this film at this point in time. As we had already gotten the conclusion of their story in Endgame so no point now of going back to it for this film. Not when for years people have been wanting a Black Widow solo film. Him being in this film would have taken a heavy focus off of the "Family" element or scraped that element all together. The timeline would have also made very little to no sense. Seeing how Hawkeye had just been arrested for his involvement in Civil War helping Steve. So he was either still on the raft or under house arrest. This film also needed to heavily focus on Yelena which wouldn't be the case if Clint was in the film being Natasha partner. She would either not be in the film at all if he was in it or she would have much less focus and basically be a 3rd wheel. And then you have the end credits which would make very little sense if Clint was in this entire film. As why would Yelena believe in anything she was told in that scene. And even if she was willing to somehow believe Clint killed Natasha they would already have a past together meaning Clint could probably defuse the entire situation much easier with Yelena willing to actually hear him out right away. Not to mention Hawkeye is very soon getting his own solo series so the last thing Black Widow needed in her possibly only film and final role in the MCU was for Hawkeye to share the spotlight with her when he's about to get the main spotlight in his own series.
I liked Black Widow. Definitely one of the better movies in the MCU. Good closure for Natasha, nice intro to new characters, and the parallels between the Black Widow program and human trafficking added some real world horror and urgency to the destruction of the Red Room. Task Master was odd because that room looked very exploded. Not to mention, Antonia falls into the, "well this person is horribly scarred but not actually that bad because it's Hollywood and who wants to look at an ugly person?" Trope. Would have been nice if it looked more like her face had to be reconstructed as opposed to just horribly burned. Maybe that would have been too difficult though. Overall, very enjoyable. Hope Yelena insults Hawkeye's hair choice.

And you actually get to see her go through stuff. Like go through everyone she thought of as her family claim they weren’t a real family. To feel left behind by her sister and then go through some sort of an arc. And she was funny.

I liked Black Widow, way too quippy, felt like more than usual for a Marvel film, but it was a solid action movie. Definitely should have come out right after Civil War, but I still enjoyed it.
Weirdly, I felt the humour was at its most natural in Black Widow than it has been for ages. The quips didn't break serious scenes. The comedy happened in line with the characters. It was refreshing.
I wish Melina and Red Guardian weren’t played up so much for laughs in the end, being super goofy with the accents but could’ve been played up to be more intimidating.
Hey James and Maso, I like your spoiler free reviews. I find them to be as Maso said, a good way to push me for or against a movie. I have chosen at times to skip ahead on past spoilers to what we read/what we gonna read and other times to listen on. Making this decision based on ur initial review

I cannot believe you guys liked this. They made Black Widow a child murderer and false flag bomber. Completely ruined the character and made me hate her. Every time they joke about Budapest in the old movies, they are joking about the time she killed a kid and blew up a building,
When will Alexei the Pig roll down a hill and become an Avenger? Make it happen, Marvel! Also, a lot of people are saying that Taskmaster was wasted and the movie should have been about the Budapest mission. I don't care about that and I love that James thinks the same.
I also noticed the MLP gaff. Though, in the 90s it would more likely be Gen 2, since that property originated in the 80s. Still not as egregious as the use of DVD season boxsets in Wandavision for the early aughts.
Shocked that you guys found this at the top of the marvel movies...Personally I felt it middle at best...I was glad I watched it as it filled some stuff in, but I doubt I would ever watch it again...
👋HEY JAMES, if you've got some cash to burn, you should get the Iron Man Mk.5 Hot Toys they're re-issuing... I know that's your favorite Iron Man... they're re-issuing that suit and releasing the version where Tony is wearing the race track suit and in the process of suiting up with the Mk.5... ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE 🤩🤩🤩
SPOILER Wtf happens at the end with general Ross. Like ok, the guy can intervene in eastern Europe, weird but I can deal with it, but it just cut? Isn't that a super weird way to edit the movie?
Have you guys tried Mini Wheat-a-Bix with choc chips? And yeah, dry or mushy is weird, they need to be just right. Also, Crunchy Nut Clusters with chocolate flakes. I'd say Coco Pops but they're shit now.

@@MatiProbably Exactly. The Bourne Ultimatum meets Moonraker (with a detour through The World Is Not Enough [avalanche escape] along the way).
Just saw it. My second favorite Marvel movie…maybe. Lol
only learnt this recently, but a high school mate of mine (J*** S******) actually WORKED ON MARVEL'S WHAT IF!!! J*** if u see this, good bloody on ya mate, representing the central coast boys
Censored so no one doxxes my mate
I cannot believe you guys liked this. They made Black Widow a child murderer and false flag bomber. Completely ruined the character and made me hate her. Every time they joke about Budapest in the old movies, they are joking about the time she killed a kid and blew up a building,
When will Alexei the Pig roll down a hill and become an Avenger? Make it happen, Marvel!
Also, a lot of people are saying that Taskmaster was wasted and the movie should have been about the Budapest mission. I don't care about that and I love that James thinks the same.
I skipped ahead to see if you're still "Westworlding"
Cheater😂😂😂
It's not going to stop. Soon they will retroactively edit it into all their older podcasts
I also noticed the MLP gaff. Though, in the 90s it would more likely be Gen 2, since that property originated in the 80s. Still not as egregious as the use of DVD season boxsets in Wandavision for the early aughts.
48:24 I just call her "the blind lawyer from Arrested Development"
A sad song i wish they would use in movies instead of making sad covers of popular songs is In A Broken Dream by Rod Stewart
Would of been cool if there was a Chris Evans cameo were he meets red guardian
SPOILER
Wtf happens at the end with general Ross.
I agree with this Black Widow review 100%. Pretty solid movie that's not perfect....but also...who cares that it's not perfect?
