It’s DIO. Take away the two mega LPs from Ozzy, the rest of his catalog is 🫤. Those two LPs are incredible but the DIO catalog is way better. DIO is a way better vocalist. DIO never used autotune. OZZY was a weaker singer. OZYY’s voice dropped off the map in the early 90s. DIO doesn’t not get the recognition he deserves. I love DIO’s version of the old Sabbath songs. DIO can sing OZZY’s material, OZZY could never, ever in a million decades could sing DIO’s material.
I love this debate. My friends and I constantly argue over Ozzy vs Dio, Bon Scott vs Brian Johnson, and Dave vs Sammy. The album you are thinking of is Never Say Die, and yes it is the one with the two guys with weird masks on!
I love them both. I just have the feeling I'm listening to completely unrelated bands when I listen to Dio and Ozzy era. That band with Dio should have been named Heaven and Hell right from the beginning. They're both masters in their own way
It didnt seem like you knew what the title "E5150" is about but it actually spells out "EVIL" E=E 5=V (in roman numerals) 1=I 50=L (in roman numerals).
Ozzy & Dio were both great in their own right. The more important question should be why Ronnie James Dio still hasn't been inducted into the Rock Hall yet really. Just saying...
The so-called Ozzy stuff was actually a real band called Blizzard of Ozz. If you're unsure of this statement, go and read " For Facts Sake," by Bob Daisley. Bob tells the unredacted truth about all of his musical career.
That's a really good point, and that's what the guys thought they were signing up for. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems that the record company wanted to push the "Ozzy" angle so they downplayed the "Blizzard of Oz" to the point that it came off as just being the name of the album.
@audiomover In actual fact, it was Sharon outmanouvering the band. She managed to get Ozzy's name bigger than the band name.. The reason why Ozzy's name was there at all was just to allegedly get this new band noticed. My advice is to read the book. In fact , Bob Daisley is a real sweet guy, and if you contact him, he will happily speak to you!
Okay now 1970 I was 8 years old and I heard the first Black Sabbath album it saved me from flower power hippie love songs pop rock I loved it now technical ecstasy and never say die were lackluster albums for Black Sabbath with Ozzy Osbourne I hate to say it but it's true they weren't as good as all the other albums with him now Ronnie James Dio recorded Heaven and Hell mob rules live evil dehumanizer all with Black Sabbath then the supergroup Heaven and Hell with the album called the devil you know I'm going to give it to Ronnie James Dio for being the better of the two because one reason only better voice and the fact that none of the albums he did with Black Sabbath or lackluster or sucked everything he did with Black Sabbath was really good
Ozzy is the perfect heavy metal singer. It is supposed to be the voice of the total loser. A band for the casualties of military industrial complex. Dio only fit in because he was short goblin. If he was 6 5 chad, with that voice, woulda been very weird, like whitesnake or some shit. Sabbath is a band for dropouts an ne'er do wells. Ozzy was the first rockstar that was "one of us".....That is the only why he was culturally relevant so long. Nobody can do Ozzy.
Dio was amazing but the original Black Sabbath with Ozzy is legendary.
Nothing to talk about... Ronnie is the GOAT!!!
I prefer Dio, but they're both great in their own right.
Young Ozzy was raw and new , dio was more polished and better singer, but I love them both

Only Dio and Tony Martin

Last album with Ozzy was Never Say Die released in 1978.

I absolutely prefer Dio... an icon, a legend... I've dreamed so many times being him
I´m 47 my first experience was OZZY in Sabbath only singer worth it in Sabbath i dont like any other singer or albums without Ozzy
It didnt seem like you knew what the title "E5150" is about but it actually spells out "EVIL" E=E 5=V (in roman numerals) 1=I 50=L (in roman numerals).
Super interesting!
Would help these two with the other writers you can tell by every album they release😊
Ozzy & Dio were both great in their own right. The more important question should be why Ronnie James Dio still hasn't been inducted into the Rock Hall yet really. Just saying...
love them both but i like the tony martin era headless cross best album ever
RONNIE is the Best... Ozzy l like me. By RONNIE is wonderfull. The Best
Better singer, in general?
Ozzy wasn't fit to be Dio's mic tech.
Dio is a mega ton better singer than shouty McGee Ozzy.
Even AI sits on the fence!!!
LOL! exactly!

@@colrhodes377 Great suggestion! I read a lot of these types of books. I will have to get it on the list.
@audiomover Most excellent 👌. Bob spills the beans on everything that he ever did.
